What to prepare?

Hi, I want to know about what is the must-have equipment and knowledge i need to prepare, if a war broke out and the supply chains got cut off.
I live in a city near a ocean, but the closest forest is way out of my ability to reach(there are small parks though).

Read your insurance policy if you own a house and look into flood insurance if you don't have any. All the stuff other people have said would be nice to have on hand. I would also suggest a decent chainsaw and proper PPE, I would rather prep for a large storm system and sawing out streets for emergency services rather than nuclear war.

At first? Absolutely. Get food and water for the emergency situation as well.

(1)Hot water from the tap (if you store the water in the refrigerator to let it get refrigerator cold). (2)Prepackaged food such as anything canned chili or packaged nuts. Basically anything that you can buy that’s prepackaged and ready to eat right now that you like and can rotate around with other items so you won’t get sick of. (3)A battery powered flashlight and radio plus single use batteries for both such as a C or D radio and flashlight to save on cost and storage plus you can use the radio to get any form of news if the power grid goes down and have a flashlight to help you see.

A map a compass and an absolute solid understanding of your area and how to navigate it.
In the area i live in there is a large canal network with acess roads not listed on google maps or street maps.
This network allows me to navagate the entire valley without having to use surface streets or the freeway.
I have met people who have lived here for 40 years with no clue this network exists, and im sure there are routes im personally not aware of myself.
Using a map and a compass i can effectively travel regardless of weither or not an earthquake shuts down the freeway or travel is artifically restricted by the goverment.
The people who claim to know everything about their city but cant navigate with out the existing roads is abundant.

In an urban setting you want to invest in a good first aid kit that includes bandages, antiseptics, pain relievers, and any personal medications. Stock up on non-perishables - canned goods, rice, and beans, along with a reliable water purification system (like filters or purification tablets) and a proper way to store them too if you have the space. Other things you might want - 50 Doomsday Apocalypse Survival Items can help. Oh and also consider storing water in bathtubs or any large containers you might have in your home if you’re anticipating some form of conflict or outage.
Don't forget a flashlight and a battery-powered or hand-crank radio for communication and information. Since you mentioned you can't reach the forest easily, consider learning basic self-defense skills and urban survival techniques which is a very underrated prep! People often neglect self sustenance techniques and defence i.e. things you can’t buy but only able to learn, so consider learning some form of gardening, basic carpentry, and mechanical repair too.

Why would you need a forest?
You are looking at the basics.
Food for at least 3-4 weeks
Water for at least 3-4 weeks
A way to cook in a complete grid down situation
A way to heat your place in an emergency if the grid goes down.
A way to keep cool in an emergency.
You will need a way to clean yourself with limited water.
You will need a way to clean cooking things with limited water.
You will need to be able to go to the bathroom safely with limited water.
You will need medications for an extra month in case you can get to a pharmacy or they can't get in medications.
