Because it wasn't a matter of him not wanting to be behind the truck that hit him, or stuck at either of their sides. He purposely passed the left lane truck, and then braked for no reason in an attempt to show his displeasure at something left lane truck was doing. If he had not touched the brake, he would have been away from both trucks in seconds at the speed he was going. This wasn't about fear or being scared, this was a guy trying to be an annoyance and learning the hard way sometimes actions have consequences
Fair enough, and in that situation I wouldn't be defending the driver. But rigs, especially at speed, don't accelerate that fast unless they've been heavily modified. Nope, this is just a classic brake check FAFO situation
Way back when I was a baby truck driver, I got the chance to do this. The brake check was much harder and it was a smaller, undivided highway. My 1981 Mack showed no signs of damage from the Mazda RX7 that I hit, just a little red paint on the front bumper. Once contact was made and they realized that I wasn’t going to slow down or swerve, they got the fuck out of the way. It wasn’t responsible driving but definitely a case of might makes right.
Mine was playing a game where they were repeatedly trying to get closer and closer before speeding up. The old Mack was topped out at 62mph and I was tired, definitely not in the mood for the bullshit. They miscalculated or finally got brave enough so I hit them. They sped up and took the next left towards the lake, so I’m guessing they were drunk and had made a beer run.
Another time I was behind a school bus on a rural road and the high school had let out. One of the boys had daddy’s Trans Am and kept tailgating behind my drop deck trailer as I coasted every time the bus stopped. One time I tapped the brakes and crunch! I didn’t even stop to look at it. I’m sure the kid made up a great story about how the car was damaged. Ah to be young again!
Both drivers shouldn't have done what they did yesterday, but the car is in the initial wrong. You reap what you sow, and I hope he learned a lesson to not be a dick head around semi trucks.
dude ppl should know it takes half an hour for some trucks to get through the gears and if some absolute jizz flapper starts getting back in your grill for god knows what reason then... surely the strong survive
A truck cannot brake that quickly, they’re how heavy? Plus the added weight of any cargo. Let’s put you in this seat and watch you brake, see how quickly you can slow down
Did you happen to notice what sub you’re in? The driver of the truck that hit the car absolutely could have braked and avoided this. I’m not saying I would have preferred him to do so, but trucks absolutely can stop when needed. Even at max gross weight.
Brother, I am a driver. I absolutely could have used my brakes to stop in time not to make contact with that car even at 80k. The key to success is this case is: Apply brakes when you first see fuckery afoot. As soon as ol boy in the Mini pulled that maneuver and applied his brakes the first time any professional driver can tell what’s about to happen.
If the driver started braking so would have car, and that car would’ve slowed down way faster than the POV driver would have and forced him to hit the car anyway, your point is?
My point is that in the video the truck driver could have avoided the collision as it happened in the video. You can what if this out all you want. The Mini driver could have stopped in the middle of the highway and pulled his johnson out too. But that’s not what happened in the video. That was an avoidable collision as presented.
How was it avoidable? Again, had the POV started slowing down so would have the car, there’s nothing that really could’ve been done, with everything POV could have done the car would’ve followed with a counter, idk what else to say
So you’re saying you think the person in the car wanted to be hit with the full force of the truck? I think the driver was trying to be an asshole and didn’t count on the truck driver not to slow down at all. The person in the truck did not noticeably apply brakes at all in the video. Through the whole thing he continued passing the truck on the right.
And again, you are assuming you know what the car driver would have done. You don’t know that. What we know is what we see in the video. Which is an asshole in a Mini brake checking a truck that doesn’t slow down or try to avoid a collision at all. There’s NO evidence to support your claim that the Mini driver is just gonna do whatever it takes to get hit.
If the person in the car wants to get hit for insurance fraud, they’re getting hit, I don’t think they care about the force of it. Any injuries they get are just a bonus to them, there’s nothing else to really say. Truck slams on the brakes, car probably slows down with them, maybe the truck will spin out, you’re assuming there’s nothing anywhere else except empty road and that slowing down will cause the car to just fuck off like “oh you don’t want to be hit? Alright catch you later then”
This was road rage. Did you not see the arm out the window with the middle finger? There’s no evidence here to support an attempt of insurance fraud. You’re making shit up.
Plenty of people do dumb shit that looks like road rage but is insurance fraud. Regardless, if you’re slamming your brakes in front of someone I don’t think the impact force matters, you already intend to get close to getting hit at the very least whether insurance fraud or not, if you get hit it’s your fault entirely. Most road ragers will gladly stop with you to yell and scream at you, maybe even attack you if they’re psycho enough, and seeing as this is in the middle of nowhere I don’t think POV wanted to deal with any of it, would you?
God I hope you’re lying about being a driver, I’d hate to see you be attacked by a road rager because you stopped and let them come at you. I’d also hate to see that a driver slammed on their brakes after being brake-checked and forced another car behind them to hit them and probably get hurt or seriously injured but I guess I’m just a dumbass for looking out for other people on the road and not caring about the psychos that intend to harm my vehicle and theirs aren’t I?
If you intend to cause or almost cause an accident I’m not stopping for you if I don’t think I can without causing an accident myself, if you are the offender your life is not any more important than the lives of the Mary, 8 year old Jack and 2 year old Katey behind me as they have done nothing wrong whilst you intend to ignore basic traffic safety due to your anger
Maybe there was no safe way to brake hard with his load. I’ve seen the aftermath of someone braking too hard with construction material and it wasn’t pretty.
I would love to know how this played out with insurance.
"Yeah, he hit me and pushed me off the road!
What was I doing before the accident?
I sped up and passed him on the left, just as he was about to pass another truck. Then break checked him, twice, hard break check the second time as I flipped him the bird."
Can't even hardly do this willingly anymore with these new emergency breaking systems in trucks.
I came up on a 63mph truck on the Ohio turnpike and stayed behind him going into a work zone that cut down to one lane, coming out of it I stayed left while he got back right and passed him. Apparently I didn't get back over fast enough, because this little beat up Ford explorer passed me on the left shoulder, then brake checked me. I had no intentions of touching the brake, unfortunately the truck did for me. I would have willingly took the hit just to see the guy explain how he illegally passed on the left shoulder then brake checked me with dash cam proof.
A lot of those automatic braking systems are overridden by pushing the gas to the floor. I know when you start a Cascadia it says "push accelerator pass detent to override automatic braking system" or something of the sort.
I'm sure some of you can attest to how this happened back in the day before cameras and cell phones. Uncle claims to have run several people off the road back in the 80s doing shit like this
I brake checked a stupid trucker in a VW golf. Douche trucker was following me in town and a few hundred yards before the speed limit hits 45 he hauls up on my bumper trying to bully me to do more than the 5 over I'm already doing. There's also a slight hill after the 45 but this guy is empty so that's a non issue. Guy proceeds to ride my ass about 10 feet off my hatch doing 45 in the 45 so I start slowing down. He honks and gets closer so I end up at under 20 going up the hill. I believe I gave him half a peace sign out the window too.... After that he stayed about half a mile back.
Now I don't mind folks being in a hurry and I'll actively slow down a little at passing zones so they can easily get around me. Heck I've pulled partway off the highway to let some faster truckers get around on a two lane. Bullying though, fuck that and I'll inconvenience you as much as possible.
I’d argue self defense. Can’t be too safe on those long, dark roads. If you pulled over or smashed your brakes, who knows who would come up the back to harm you and steal your rig? Survival first, and the Mazda driver wasn’t thinking about theirs.
The level of disconnect from all y'all is honestly terrifying.
Yes, the car driver is a shit bag, driving irresponsibly like that is asking for exactly this to happen.
But SOMEONE has to be the mature, safe driver. If you're going to call yourself a professional driver, act professionally. Don't just hold the steering wheel, and allow an accident to happen like this.

Lmao if you spent all day braking and avoiding poor drivers like this you would understand why the video has so many up votes. But you don't, you know nothing about being a professional driver and you're commenting on something you know nothing about.
Your level of disconnect is not terrifying; it makes perfect sense.
Just because we find something satisfying to watch because we've wanted to do it doesn't mean any of us would actually do what this driver did. This was very satisfying to watch though.
Being entertained is one thing, but so many on here not only condone it but are praising the driver in the video. That leads me to believe they wish they had the balls to do it themselves, and that is terrifying.
Who are you talking to exactly? I already told you that basically everyone commenting would have hit the brakes. I'm glad you are perfect and never have intrusive thoughts.
I would never do this personally… but the intrusive thoughts say that someone driving like this doesn’t run any sort of dash cam. Put him in the ditch and roll on.
That's assuming the car was in any condition to get back on the road and track him down and has cell service out there. Also very possible this guy never got caught.
I am starting to wonder if I am the only person that will brake check a car to force him to let a truck lane change or merge… People don’t seem to be able the comprehend that 80k versus 3k in weight is nothing to be trifled with. He f*ckd around, and found out. 🫡
I've been tented to do the same more than once. Some 4 wheelers don't think about consequences. You guys know how hard is to keep the composure at times. Specially after drive for 7 plus hours.

faeriekingelija@reddit
i think this is called “right of weight” 😊
Show_Quality_Trash@reddit
We should be allowed to rear end 2 cars a year, we do 100,000 safe miles a year avoiding every idiot, 1 or 2 good hits should be a reward
NeoAcario@reddit
I would never do this personally… but the intrusive thoughts say that someone driving like this doesn’t run any sort of dash cam. Put him in the ditch and roll on.
TrappedAndThotpilled@reddit
Hahahahahahaahaaa. Good. Piece of sh!t.
Arth3r911@reddit
Looks like he deserved it. Unfortunately insurance won’t see it this way. He had time to prevent this. Best of luck to this driver.
WIbigdog@reddit
That's assuming the car was in any condition to get back on the road and track him down and has cell service out there. Also very possible this guy never got caught.
noturaveragesenpaii@reddit
Hell yeah
LED_Ambience@reddit
Bullbar?
Rdtisgy1234@reddit
I hope he did not stop. And the other truck driver help a bro out, erase your dash cam footage and saw nothing.
Cs0331@reddit
Welp i hate to break it to you but they posted it on the internet
Ok_Assistant_6856@reddit
😂
Rdtisgy1234@reddit
Or….. random guy named Joe found an SD card on the ground in a parking lot and it had this video on it. Joe decided to post it on the internet. 😉

NastyStreetRat@reddit
The car driver will never do this kind of stupidity ever again. Lesson learnt.
vfittipaldi@reddit
That was beautiful
momayham@reddit
If you brake check? You’re trying to cause an accident. May as well oblige, & make their dreams come true.
whubbard@reddit
Funny we don't have the dashcam for previous minutes.
Abject_Ticket3730@reddit
Yup. That’s pretty much how that works out 💯 🍻

Alexlatenights@reddit
If you think you can stop something that outweighs your car then you deserve the ditch nap. Someone will be by later 🤣
rogerg0834@reddit
😂😂😂😂 did what 💯 of all pro drivers have thought about doing at least once a day 👏👏👏👏
DukeReaper@reddit
Move bitch, get out the way
BriskManeuver@reddit
They actually did what all of us want to do
I salute you
HMG_03@reddit
I am starting to wonder if I am the only person that will brake check a car to force him to let a truck lane change or merge… People don’t seem to be able the comprehend that 80k versus 3k in weight is nothing to be trifled with. He f*ckd around, and found out. 🫡
An3ros152@reddit
Yeeted that fuckwad off the road! 🎉🎉
Long_Yak_6274@reddit
I've been tented to do the same more than once. Some 4 wheelers don't think about consequences. You guys know how hard is to keep the composure at times. Specially after drive for 7 plus hours.
maroco92@reddit
This should be legal country wide.
SmoothBoreMoose50@reddit
Because fuck 'em! That's why!
