Damn, Is this finally the age of boomer memes? Because I'm barely 40 but can't stand all those random Zoomer this these days. This.. this right here is peak
12 Angry Men is a movie about 12 jurors debating whether a black boy was guilty of killing his father. Both juror#4 and #10 believed the boy was the murderer, but #4 used logic to support his arguments while #10 is just straight up a massive racist.
‼️‼️HOLY FUCKING SHIT‼️‼️‼️‼️ IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING 12 ANGRY MEN REFERENCE??????!!!!!!!!!!11!1!1!1!1!1!1! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 12 ANGRY MEN IS THE BEST FUCKING MOVIE 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯 JUROR 8 IS SO BADASSSSS 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎👊👊👊👊👊 "YOU DON'T REALLY MEAN YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ME, DO YOU?" 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩 😩😩😩😩 "IT’S NOT EASY TO RAISE MY HAND AND SEND A BOY OFF TO DIE WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT IT FIRST" 🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬🤬😡🤬🤬😡 "YOU'RE NOT GONNA INTIMIDATE ME!" Juror 8 was operating outside the law, and his continual ignoring of jury rules should have resulted in a mistrial. Jurors are not allowed to conduct their own investigations, present their own evidence to the jury, or make legal arguments that were not introduced in the trial. Juries are supposed to deliberate and reach a decision *based on evidence presented in the trial," and Juror 8's extrajudicial antics tainted the jury.
I didn’t know it had a remake and honestly it’s aged pretty well since it’s just a dialog heavy movie, how did they remake it? Just re-shoot the same dialogues and the plot or did they change the basics
I might get hate for this, but when I worked with a lot of Hispanic guys (like 90% of my coworkers), most of the people that were racist towards them were black. So idk, maybe just a coincidence
When a black man and a Mexican meet, either they love each other like brothers off the first meeting or they sling slurs at each other. There’s no inbetween.
It's really good, for me the best part is the details of the characters and room they are, the story of the boy that is told in the investigation, and of course the actors.
Maybe not, but he also doesn’t seem like the type to watch a movie and relate it to his relationship with his son. Actually speaking to him has more of a chance than hoping he comes up with it for the first time in his life
Man, if only the grown man trying to reconcile his relationship with a desperate last-ditch attempt had thought of speaking to his dad first. Tragic lapse tbh hope he tries it
Everyone agrees, you're stating the obvious. If the dad was willing to have an actual conversation, it would definitely be better than conveying vague messages through films. But considering that OOP said he agreed to watch one film a month together, we can assume that option is already out the window.
Err, /u/qpalzm76 might not be wrong here--surely talking (however ineffectual) is faster than watching movies and never discussing the desperately needed subtext
I'm pretty sure everyone knows that, but anon might have already tried and it didn't work or got rejected to even talk about it, and is now using films out of desperation
The reaction to this comment is crazy. It’s the most obvious shit in the world. If talking directly can’t work, then probably nothing will. Certainly not this circuitous nonsense. Life isn’t a fucking hallmark movie.
He would be better off finding a project for him and his Dad to do together, like working on the house or a project car. Technically, that dynamic should be on the father to explore, but this is the real world, so we should keep our expectations low and realistic on that front.
If OP’s dad is the kind of person that watches movies at literal face value and can’t even begin the thought process of relating to a message or theme personally then all a conversation is gonna do is get anon kicked out of the house or at best told to shut the fuck up and quit crying
12 Angry Men has aged phenomenally. I love how it ends, not with a "I know who did it!" or a resolution on what really happened with the murder because that's not the jury's job. They simply had to decide if the boy was guilty beyond all reasonable doubt and decided, no. That's that.
Here's the thing though: The kid was almost certainly guilty, and the prosecution's evidence did prove it. Juror 8 then presents his own evidence and makes his own arguments that were not presented in court, in direct violation of jury rules. The jury is supposed to decide the case on the merits presented during the trial, and they did not do that.
My dad was the same. Started talking with him, doing some stuff I learned on therapy and improved a lot our relationship. If someone in a relationship is not willing to understand and work on their problems, it’s not your fault.

Honestly I feel like memes on old media prolly work better because they're so genuine instead of people consciously trying to be ironic or memable

RonaldMcDonalds2020@reddit
This is a black and white movie, since Jews and Italians aren't white that means that they must be black.
maledin@reddit
That was considered black back when this movie was originally made.

It was not.

Just recasted and refilmed I think. They made the defendant Hispanic and the racist guy black though, which was a very odd decision

I thought the original kid was also hispanic.
he was in the slum, which could've just been code for any sort of minority, but the kid wasn't black or asian.
could've been Irish or Italian or any other sort of other white minority that was also ostracized back then, it's quite interesting how that evolved.
Qverlord37@reddit
similar dialogue, recasted with a more diverse group of actors.
they definitely fleshed out each characters a bit more, but I feel like the remakes lacks the subtlety of the original.
the script itself feels like it's doing a lot more legwork to spell it out to the viewer rather than leave things ambiguous for the viewer to process.
He-She-We_Wumbo@reddit
Yeah, Bruce Willis and Madeleine Stowe were great, but I thought Brad Pitt really stole the show. What a twist!
