The two B-52‘s are waiting to pick up the crew of the B1 and the B2 when they retired at Davis- Monthan

B2 is reportedly the only aircraft, pound for pound, which would have been cheaper to cast in 24K gold.
I shit you not!

Woah! 160,000 lbs x $25,000 / lb = $4,000,000,000. Not exact, but they are definitely comparable.

2 billion off?
-retardigrade-@reddit
Same order of magnitude :P The B2 was introduced in the late nineties. If you do the math with 90s gold prices, I think it will be much closer to the ~2 Billion dollar price tag.

Omg it took me so long to understand this picture 😅

I’m not going to admit how long it took me to realise it was airborne and not just utterly massive

For a second I thought it was a huge B2, probably because the planes on the ground are so clear.

I had trouble with that too 😁

B-1, B-2, B-52, Edwards just daring the nearby housing developments to propose shutting the base down

The B2 is 35 years old?
Fuck I'm old

Haha…. The B-1 is older …. And the BUFF older still.
I almost went to work for Rockwell in Palmdale in 85 when the starting back on production
