Air Canada Pilots

Spotted near YYZ today. Paid for by ALPA. Should be interesting to see how this plays out. A first year FO salary of $58,000 CAD +/- is ridiculous.

As a passenger, I too would like more money being invested in pilots over the smucks at the top.

This sounds shitty but I rather it go to cabin and comfort upgrades. More space, better food, cleaner cabin, and I’m just gonna say it - every single airplane should have outlets for every seat.
TheProphetic@reddit
All that doesn't see improvements if it's going to the executives.

I’m saying the money shouldn’t go to executives nor should it all go to the pilots salary. It should go into the hellish tube we all have to sit in

I prefer my pilots not being underpaid and overworked, instead of cabin furnishings.

Once again, I’m not saying pilots shouldn’t get raises, I’m saying not ALL the money should go to pilots.
Like totally arbitrary example, but let’s say a company has 20 pilots and made an extra $20m (once again totally arbitrary). I don’t think every pilot should get a mil raise. Maybe 250k raise and the other 15m go to the planes.

Jeezus. First year FOs in the US are making double that (accounting for the exchange rate).

Yeah but at least COL is cheap in AC hub cities like Toronto and Vancouver 🙃

Exactly.

The first that came to my head seeing this is: “Where’s this guy going? He’s on the taxiway!”
Spino2425@reddit
Where?
meetgeorgejetson10@reddit (OP)
Toronto. The AC pilots could be on strike on September 18.
Peacewind152@reddit
It’s very likely AC will lock out before then. The talks are stalled pretty badly. AC pilots that I know don’t see a resolution coming before the deadline and they as a whole are pretty dead set on their terms to keep working.

Thanks for the info

The industry should put significantly bigger investments in their mechanics.
