So I work as a delivery driver in the next town over and I carry a duffle bag with my get home bag in it and my plan id something does happen is to put my stuff into my food bag back pack and my pizza bag. That way I dont stand out driving around with a backpacking backpack in my car. Thoughts?

Have a Kevlar backpack insert. They're thin and discreet. And in an emergency situation they're big enough to cover your upper body as you cheese it. Preferably hitting them at the same time so there's less chance of them chasing you/getting to their car and following you

Company or personal vehicle?

Personal

Nondescript bookbags can be found used at thrift stores and salvation army stores cheap. Rugged enough to carry heavy books avoid anything that looks military or tactical. Don't know how much gear you need to carry if you live in the next town over. How long does it take to walk? Urban or rural? What region are you in?

My hubby used to deliver pizza and he was mugged for the money AND the pizza.

This used to happen a lot. I wonder if the rate has gone down since most people aren’t paying for their pizza in cash at the door anymore.

That would be the ONLY reason it might work. But can you trust it?

I would assume this would be larger risk in areas with high homeless populations too.

Gotta respect a mugger with priorities, tbh.

do... people look inside your car a lot?

Plastic toolbox. Back of the car.

Lmao what are you preparing for that you have to be discreet with a regular backpacking bag

I'm also trying to imagine a scenario where you'd stand out less looking like a lost pizza guy.

Yes I have thoughts. Oh you mean specific to this?

I guess it depends, are people more likely to steal a backpacking bag or a bag they think is full of pizza and delicious take out

I picked up a used brown and gray backpack that was designed to be a carry-on. The straps are normally concealed in a zipper pocket so they don't get caught on the baggage equipment. It fits well in the back of my car and is pretty unassuming. If your "get home" commute is less than a few hours by foot, then you don't have to be full gray man. It's usually a few days before people realize they are fooked and start robbing random people...unless you are already in a high crime area...

If you're looking for discretion, go for more of a schoolbag or sling pack. You will sacrifice invebtory options, but that can be adjusted through trial and error while building your bag loadout.

Good for you if thats what you want. Seems like you are overthinking it.
