Is it worth it to upgrade an rtx4080super 16g to an rtx4090 24?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn’t find any concise information on it. I presently have a 4080 super with an i9 14900 and 32gb ram. Just was wondering if the cost to benefit is worthwhile to upgrade to a 4090 and 64RAM? I only use my pc for gaming, I don’t do any streaming or video editing or anything, but I do like to play games in high performance, naturally. I do have some knowledge of pc tech of course but I’m by no means a whiz. Appreciate any insight thanks !

Nobody can answer that question but you. We don’t know how much money you have and how much extra performance means to you. It’s a very silly question.

It’s not a silly question at all, but this is a silly comment. If you don’t have any input then don’t say anything at all? You commented for what, to insult someone? I didn’t ask you to calculate my finances I asked if the performance output between the 4080 and 4090 is effective enough for how much it costs. It’s really not a complex question to interpret not sure how you’re having trouble

hes not wrong, its really up to you.
"worth it" is different for everyone, some people could never imagine spending over $500 on a gpu, while others are happy to pay +$1k for a new gpu.
that aside, with new gpus coming out soon and the 4080 already being pretty good, I wouldn't upgrade right now. also 64gb of ram is pretty useless if you are only doing gaming.

Lmao oh you mean my choices are up to me? You don’t say? Never heard that before. Nobody asked anyone to make a choice for me so idk where the hell you read that at lmao You guys really just be making stuff up.
I asked if the increase in performance from a 4080S to a 4090 is worthwhile for what I use it for. No where did I ask anyone to make a financial decision for me 😂 price and performance doesn’t change based on someone’s opinion lmao It’s really not a complex concept, not sure why you’re getting confused. Maybe google can help you understand the words I used in my post so you can read more than “I love to game” -which isn’t even in the post to begin with 😂

The is google for that, you gave no info except “I love to game” lol, what advice did you expect?
Groundhog_Gary28@reddit (OP)
I gave plenty of info, you apparently just can’t read. Other people had no problem giving advice ? Man I get tired of clowns like you every single day always have something demeaning to say just stfu, google how to do that
OneMoreShepard@reddit
Why are you getting to triggered by the simplest of comments?
Groundhog_Gary28@reddit (OP)
Why are you getting triggered over the simplest of questions? I guess there’s too many words for you to read at once considering all you think the post says is four words

4090 is about 24% faster than 4080 super, personally I'd say it's not worth the money or hassle, but ultimately it's up to you.
As for the RAM I'd say it's nit worth it at all.

Thank you! Appreciate the decent response. I think I’ll hold off on the upgrades for now then thanks for the input man

4090 is nice card to own, imo it's an enthusiast pc builders choice. If you have the budget for one, go for it.
I don' t own one but I remember when I got my gtx 1080ti and that was a good feeling. Back then I could have gotten a gtx 1070ti and had a similar experience, but I wanted the best gpu and I got it.
Now I am gaming on a rtx 4070ti at 1440p and it runs fine the games I enjoy playing.
It all depends on your needs. The rtx 4080 super is probably enough for modern games today. You should consider the 5000 series as a good upgrade path for you and if you have the budget for a 4090 you should be able to get a 5090 when it launches for example.
Groundhog_Gary28@reddit (OP)
I honestly didn’t even know a 5000 series was due to come out in the near future lol thanks for the decent response ! I think I’ll just wait for that 🙂
Ausles@reddit
For the most part, a 4080S and 32GB of ram will be totally fine for gaming purposes. The 4080S is the second best gpu out, with the 5000 series coming out soon (I think rumors out it in January of 2025 now). The 4080S also has the better value for performance between it and the 4090 buy a large margin. The 4090 is basically a titan card in previous generations, and it wouldn’t be even thought about by gamers for gaming, if it was labeled as a titan card.
If you are successful and have enough free spending money and you really want to upgrade to it, then go for it. But if you have any hint of possible buyers remorse, don’t do it. Save the money and upgrade to a 5000 series card when it comes out. And of those cards aren’t as good as expected, it’ll likely drop the price of the 4090 as well

Thank you for the decent response and insight ! Very helpful

What a silly question
MyNameIsWozy@reddit
a 4090 is only worth it for non-gaming tasks, such as rendering/editing videos and 3d design. It is never worth it for gaming, but you can make an argument for it if you have a successful job related to playing video games or streaming.
Groundhog_Gary28@reddit (OP)
Thanks! Yeah I don’t stream or use it for work or anything, I just game for leisure. I do like playing high performance though like 4k@100-120ish+fps and don’t want to have any limitations for playability when it comes to games, and I haven’t really yet with my 4080. Certain games I only get around 90fps which still is great, although for the price it should be lol Just wasn’t sure if a 4090 would push out more performance on a significant enough level to warrant an upgrade so I figured I’d ask someone more knowledgeable! Appreciate the insight. Another question though, would I benefit in upgrading from 32gb RAM to 64 or would that also kinda be obsolete for what I use it for?
MyNameIsWozy@reddit
I mean, it depends on how many chrome tabs/background progams you have open while playing games lol. But upgrading to 64gb is not a bad idea/waste of money nowadays. I saw a video/post on how much ram popular games use, iirc it was about 10-15 gigs of ram for each with a couple outliers (hogwarts uses 22 gb iirc)
