Never read the book but used to see it in the library and the title stuck with me. I always wondered if they came up with that first then wrote the book around it (pretty sure they did).
On a (sorta) related note, there’s a dj on the NPR station in LA named Austin Cross, and when he says his name, I wonder if he’s ever considered making a condiment called “Austin Cross’ Awesome Sauce”

Holy shit, thank you for posting this. I read this as a kid and loved it. I've been trying to remember the name for a while so I can pass the joy along to my kids.

I love hearing about everyone sharing this with future generations, I’ll have to get a copy to my dragon loving nephew 🐉❤️

I recall reading this, I even recall that the dragon was named Tiamat.

I loved the mythology behind the name Tiamat. I think it’s the perfect name for a Dragon 🐉

Not this one, but I did love his My Teacher is an Alien series.

My reading quantity of the “My Teacher…” series was only trumped by Goosebumps.

I had all the goosebumps up to like 50 when they first came out in the mid 90’s.

No, but I read his other book Goblins in the Castle, I think I got it from scholastic book fair at school.
I liked it a lot as a kid, ended up getting it for my own kid.

Yes. Story is a bit fuzzy in my head but it rings a bell.

Loved this one! Just recently listened to the audiobook with my kids on a road trip!

For sure, I remember this one being read by a lot of other people in my class too, I was always scanning the room to see what other people were reading.

I remember the cover and while I read it (or someone read it to me), I recall very little about the story. Just shadows of recollections of story fragments.
But what is bothering the hell out of me is how young this kid looks compared to my memories. In my mind he was an adult.

Ohmygod!!! I thought I dreamed this book. I LOVED IT!
akraspberry@reddit
Oh god I loved this book! I send a copy to each kid in the family when they hit ten, and so far it’s been a hit😊

Oh man, I have a vague memory of reading this, but I can't remember anything concrete about it. Just that I liked it.

Yes. This and Jennifer Murdley's Toad, Aliens Ate My Homework, and I Left My Sneakers in Dimension X. Bruce Coville and William Sleator were my middle school sci-fi jam / urban fantasy jam.
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
Yes I’m almost certain I read this.

No, but did hear about “Margaret Thatcher, Milk Snatcher”
