I was in the military I never had to take a life(I assume I would have if I had to but I don’t know), I know many who did non took it as enjoyable or something to look forward to. I see these people with guns saying “I wish someone would etc.” and you’re legally responsible and also it’s a burden. I don’t oppose owning a gun the question I ask is are you a healthy weight? Do you regularly check your tire pressure? Do you have fire extinguishers? If a new build do you shut every door in your house to stop a fire spreading? Do you have rescue ladders on bedrooms above the first level? Do you have motion activated lights? A good front door and a lock that is well seated to the frame? Do you have glass that can’t be broken on the first level? And have you physically inhibited the window from opening? Do you check smoke detectors? Do you replace them every 5 years? Do you have CO2 detectors on every floor? Do you avoid driving between 10 pm and 3 am? All of these things make you safer healthier and will extend your life…but buying a gun is a quick fix same as wanting an suv so your higher up…but more likely to rollover and lose control…and I appreciate your story because I think people buy a gun as a quick fix feel better situation and don’t understand what it means to use it and you should hope and pray to never have to…and to be truly safe yourself you need to do boring shit
