My best friend and I used to stay up late to watch the date change at midnight when we had sleepovers.

I'm a watch nerd. I love my fancy Swill mechanicals. I own several. But these vintage digital Casios give me the weirdest watch boner. I love them. I prefer them in metallic, though. Preferably gold. There's something weirdly awesome about a cheap fake gold Casio digital watch.

I'm wearing one of these, right now...

You'd be surprised at the fandom these still have among people who really care about watches.

It's me. I'm the fandom. Shoutout to anyone else who loves digital watches!

Bring the watch.

Casio with Indiglo was the coolest 😎
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Indiglo is a Timex mark.

awww... .shucks. you right. it was a Timex. I loved the cool blue glow at night. In my defense it was a long time ago. I also had the Casio calculator watch for a bit and at least one other Casio watch.

I am wearing one of these as I type. I found it on the sidewalk three years ago and it still works great. I love the fact that I don't have to pull out my phone to know what time it is, only to get distracted on reddit for a while and then forget why I looked at my phone in the first place.

I wear the tan version at work. It's so light and thin, I barely notice it's there. I have a few other colors, but the tan one is by far my favorite. It has that 80s color palette

I had that exact watch. As a kid I remember that being extremely painful to push that set button.

Wow core memory unlocked!! Story time- I had this watch and programmed my alarm to go off before english class ended in high school. First few times not a big deal but then someone else had their watch go off too and everybody laughed. Welp like all the greats once you get a laugh you have to keep to it going! We would meet up before class to decide the times our watches would go off then of course everyone wants in on the fun. Then came a day that lived in infamy. I think we had a total of like 6 or 8 of us that had our watches going off almost simultaneously!! Teacher lost it and called vice principal who wanted someone to confess but we all kept silent and we were warned no more beeping! It was fun while it lasted.

Synchronize Swatches!

There is a modding community for these.
And they are still being sold. No new features. No new specs. Probably the same assembly lines the old ones were born from.

I had the Timex Ironman Indiglo.
Used to set it with The Weather Network.

One of my friend's dads always had the Weather Network on.

Watching this video days after giving my kid that very watch… she was tickled pink about it.
frostlineheat@reddit
I still wear one every day for work. They get broke and scratched up . But they only cost 16 bucks. So its no big deal. I usually go through two a year.
MartialBob@reddit
My father had one of these but with a stretchable metal band. It was lost when he was bed bound in a nursing home. I bought this for him from a Walmart. I was kind of amazed that it was nearly identical to his old one. He cried when I gave it to him.

You're a good kid.

After the date changed, we used to call 411 and ask them where babies came from. Until my mom showed me that only the first 5 calls were free...

In summers I would go swimming just to test its water resistant promise. Eventually water would seep in after many, many swims and I'd say "see, they are shit". I was a destructive young boy.
