How do you convince others that StackExchange is legitimate?

It's impossible to type math on Reddit, as it lacks MathJax. I have to link to http://Economics.StackExchange.com, so that people can read mathematical notation.
But some Reddit moderators are unaware of SE, think SE's spam, and remove my links to SE. Sometimes I can convince them that SE is legitimate, and they approve my post. Other times, they dig their heels in.

just write to them instead of bitching here, or upload a photo instead of linking. try imgur. no means no, if a mod tells you no, you can't do anything about it. Sorry but i don't make the rules, the mods do.

If you explain what Stackoverflow is, and how it's popular in the programming community, and stack exchange being linked to it, that might help
RecipeElectrical8566@reddit
f stackoverflow, the mods here are nothing compared to the fascists on there. lol I'm totally understand why they marked it as spam, maybe it's triggering to a lot of people... lol
Coolerwookie@reddit
Is it popular? Hard to get any solutions there. I personally never have, and other people's experiences similar to mine.
And now I hear of its declining popularity due to AI.
Good riddance.
Psychological-Owl783@reddit
The StackX network is probably >50% of the training data for any AI that codes.
Coolerwookie@reddit
Back in my day, we didn't need AI to code. We had StackOverflow, where you could ask a question, get downvoted into oblivion, and then figure it out yourself out of pure spite. Character-building stuff.
mohirl@reddit
At least you still have here to get downvoted into oblivion.
RecipeElectrical8566@reddit
I had to form my own subreddit because you can't negotiate with mods. It's their community.
QuentinUK@reddit
They don’t think it’s spam but it is a rival website. You will find that few Redditors have anything good to say about it for the same reasons.
ChingChong--PingPong@reddit
Rival website? I mean, I could see if they owned Reddit but being free labor for a for profit company AND caring if a competing site gets some traffic? That's approaching Stockholm Syndrome.
whatever73538@reddit
Stack exchange is MUCH BETTER than reddit, and i use it for my every topic possible. Just stay there for everything math related.
Prime624@reddit
I feel like being at least familiar with stack exchange should be a prerequisite for being a Reddit mod lol. That's insane that they've never heard of it.
IIlIllIlllIlIII@reddit
I actually thought ot was a shit post at first
kdjfsk@reddit
just type up the math over there, take a screenshot, and post the screenshot.
nickN42@reddit
Paste raw LaTeX code and let them figure out. Don't use
tag
cecilkorik@reddit
After doing your PhD thesis you get used to it. I don't even see the LaTeX anymore, I just see blonde, brunette, redhead...
nickN42@reddit
Heh, my masters work (here you have to do one for bachelor, one for master and so on) was about automating thesis formatting using LaTeX. And that was first and last time I've used it.

Is Stackexchange similar to Stackoverlow?
Stackoverlow is so toxic. I never get any help there. Either the post gets locked for no reason, ignored or some other bs.
PlaneCareless@reddit
How is it toxic? You either suck at writing questions, or suck at looking for answers before asking your question.
Stack Overflow's culture is to not be a reddit forum. It's not a place to chat, it's a place to have solutions to distinct one-of questions. That way it's easier to find the solution, because all the answers to that question are inside a single post.
Have you ever seen a post where the primary answer was edited 5 or 6 times in a span of 10 years because the current technology changed? That is thanks to the culture you claim to be "toxic".
Granted, classifying, merging and removing free-form questions in a public forum in an attempt to create more of a Wikipedia than a Subreddit is not an easy task and it's bound to have mistakes and produce some disgruntled users, but I think they do a really good job.
I've been programming for 8 years, I used SO almost every single week, I don't remember a single time where a doubt I had wasn't answered before to some extent.
Coolerwookie@reddit
So, stay there, and when it finally gasps it's dying breath due to lack of content and users, you can bring that toxicity here...which you already have.
PlaneCareless@reddit
Aaaah yes, disagreeing and explaining my point. Peak toxicity.
MaleficentFig7578@reddit
It's the same site
Coolerwookie@reddit
Seems to happen to a fair majority for site to die.
HotTakeHoulihan@reddit
I...think that's like asking "How can I convince the Enquirer that Associated Press is trustworthy?"
I sincerely hope you succeed but in your shoes I'd just try to find a social engineering workaround.
People are buggy, and organizations made of people are buggier. The best mods left Reddit in the middle of 2023 or before and the rest are quiet-quitting or doing the bare minimum.
nickN42@reddit
You can't convince a mod. Mod is a state of mind, and "changing views to better align them with reality" is not a part of it.
ratttertintattertins@reddit
I did persuade a mod to unban me recently. I found grovelling and suggesting an alternative punishment for my behaviour very effective.
Nicole_Zed@reddit
Mod is the internet version of a Karen.
Power hungry and cheeto encrusted instead of power hungry and hair spray crusted.
InternationalPlan325@reddit
Lol, seriously. Tyrants.
