Is battle hawk good now?
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
Just received my Revolution. Battlehawk was quick and easy. I’d say they’re good now.
MD_0904@reddit
Nice. Maybe they’re all better and fixed now. Glad you’re g2g
r4zen@reddit
The owner(?) had a shit attitude and severe customer service problems because of it when they got originally blacklisted here, years ago. Classic screwed something up and strung people along while refusing to take responsibility.
They’re a lot bigger now and I doubt the ownership or whoever was being a huge cunt is involved in the day to day of the e-commerce side anymore, I’ve been ordering from them off and on for at least 3 years with no problems.
WarlockEngineer@reddit
They still do shady stuff, like raising the price of items within hours of them getting attention on gundeals
https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/comments/1eja3wq/handgun_mp_m20_compact_le_38438_1995_shipping_75/lgdbnke/?context=10000
Scatterbine@reddit
How TF is that shady?
fap-faparoo@reddit
Why sale if unwilling to sell at sale?
_not2na@reddit
Because they sold out of a good priced gun only being offered by one distributor, so their system automatically moved onto the next distributor who had it in stock at the next lowest price?
Bearloom@reddit
Correct. The only thing that makes this stand out from Family Firearms doing the same thing is that BattleHawk transitions immediately from A price to B price.
Among their various and sundry scenes, this isn't one of them.
_not2na@reddit
You mean, they sold out on a great deal that was offered by a distributor, so they moved onto the next distributor who had the next lowest price.
It's pretty common and not really unique.
PGT_FTW@reddit
they PM'ed me asking me to remove my previous comments about how they were shitbags in exchange for extra cost consideration. Sorry guys...the time to care about my experience was back when I had the issues and a few % off years later won't fix that. You made the bed....sleep in it.
FalloutUser76@reddit
They asked me to remove my negative reviews of them on google, of course I didn’t because they deserve to go bankrupt.
rollindeep3@reddit
Wondering the same
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
What was wrong with them? I saw someone else post them this weekend so since I saw the guns discounted I figured post’em.
Bearloom@reddit
They pretty much had most of the "garbage-tier customer service" strikes against them.
Pewpewpew05@reddit
This happened to me when they listed the incorrect part number for my m&p 2.0 apex triggers. Ended up with 3 wrong triggers that wouldn’t fit my guns and they were going to cost so much to return I just threw them in a parts bin rather than lose something like a hundred bucks to return them.
I was honestly shocked how shitty their customer service was.
FalloutUser76@reddit
You should’ve done a chargeback, fuck these dirty scammers.
UserNameNotSure@reddit
They're one of those dealers that acts like they're doing you a favor by existing. They complain about profit margins. They tack on bullshit fees. They have shit-tier customer service. They talk mad shit on reddit. I will give them this though: It seems whoever runs the online portion has at least learned their lesson and not sound off whenever they get criticized. They were blacklisted for awhile but must have shaped up enough to rehab themselves.
LaffintyFinELdSi@reddit
they were blacklisted for years and only recently have been readmitted to these hallowed halls
FalloutUser76@reddit
No. They are complete scumbags with rude customer service, they should be banned for that alone. They love to run “deals” where the deal is simply MSRP. They also take an eternity to ship since they are dirty dropshippers.
the-flying-lunch-box@reddit
I've ordered a half dozen guns from them. Quick shipping and no issues.
ruthlesswickit023@reddit
Same here, no taxes too.
Direct-Example@reddit
They started charging tax to FL, which sucks bc they had some of the best prices.
sixfive407@reddit
That's a Florida tax law that went into effect in 21'. Every out of state e commerce that sold more than 100k had to start charging tax.
xX_Monster97_Xx@reddit
Same bought a pair of oakleys they had on sale and had no issues.
Able_Twist_2100@reddit
They're a drop shipping outfit, your experience is unlikely to have anything to do with them.
DaYmAn6942069@reddit
This gets asked like every other week when they get posted. It seems like this subs black list isn’t permanent. Googling them, a lot of bad past experiences. Never used them myself. There is always chargebacks I guess if it goes wrong
Direct-Example@reddit
I've ordered numerous times from them without issue. Ymmv.
AristoNYC@reddit
Ordered a pistol from them a couple months back with no issues.
ExplodingChupacabra@reddit
It's marked down $1300! Isn't POF a pretty good manufacturer?
Subverto_@reddit
These rifles have tons of issues from what I've seen posted.
YouArentReallyThere@reddit
I have two of them and they absolutely rock. Zero issues from either.
More-Willingness-588@reddit
Di or pd ones? I have a PD revolution that is chewing up brass and locking up / fail to extract to the point of requiring mortaring the thing. Called POF and they said it’s part of the break in for their proprietary system 🫠 tempted to get some steel cased stuff to break off whatever’s catching
YouArentReallyThere@reddit
DI for both of mine.
Bobchillingworth@reddit
I actually own two of their rifles (the semi-discontinued P308 AR-10 derivative and a Renegade+ AR-15), and both are great. Not sure about the Revolution though, there's always a lot of innuendo about POF's guns but not that much information from people who actually own them and aren't Youtube shills.
Scatterbine@reddit
I've been to three suppressed-only industry shoots POF attended. They did not allow anyone to fire any of their 308 rifles nor fire them for demonstration purposes. They told me their rifles do not work with a silencer. They now have a warning on their website that says their rifles will malfunction and break.
They only let people fire their 9mm lever action, which is by far the crappiest levergun in existence.
Odd-Internet-3876@reddit
Going against the grain here, I guess, but overall they make excellent ARs, but have had a few issues with shitty CS- I have 4 of their rifles- the oldest since 2008.
They actually do properly innovate in the AR space- the engineering put into this AR15 sized AR10 is very impressive. It works. I've had the piston Revolution since 2020, put 3-4K through it suppressed and not.
It has a 5 position gas block, so running it with either my ancient high back pressure SRT Omega XL or my new hybrid PWS BDE, I've never experienced "overpassing"
Also in their favor, probably the best ambi lower on the market, 9 position gas block, a truly excellent 5R barrel, superb trigger.
It's a better rifle than most alternatives at anywhere close to that price.
Sampsonite_Way_Off@reddit
When these things first came out I wanted one so bad. I kinda forgot about it after getting the SCAR. I saw one go locally at auction for $1200 and figured they were junk. I'll have to keep an eye out.
Glacierr7@reddit
Their early rifles were good.
mtbmaniac12@reddit
Not really. Over priced and over hyped with tons of issues across most of their products
rocketboy2319@reddit
Limited experience base here: I've got the Piston model (second hand, trade in) and it ran flawlessly when I took it out with some Wolf Steel case 308. The brake was stupid loud though so I put an OCL Polonium 30 on it and it was very overgassed. Had one FTE (Wolf blown primer) and one FTF likely from overgassing/bolt speed (stovepipe) so I'm trying an H2 buffer in it to see if that helps.it did auppreas nicely though and all made easy hits on Steel at 200yds off hand.
I did reach out to POF when I wanted to see about removing the brake using a reaction rod and they replied back within a few hours so I feel like the CS was good.
Odd-Internet-3876@reddit
Did adjusting the gas block not help ?
rocketboy2319@reddit
I had the piston set for suppressed mode but need to double check if I left it in "adverse" or just regular mode. Both settings were overgassed and I made the adjustment after the first couple of shots shots since it was ejecting around 1 o'clock.
Odd-Internet-3876@reddit
Maybe you have an older gas block, my '08 308 has 3: off/Normal/adverse, my Revolution and P415 have 5, off/normal/adverse/suppressed 1/suppressed 2.
The plugs look interchangeable, maybe reach out and ask if you can get hold of a newer one ?
rocketboy2319@reddit
Mine has the same 5x settings, just overgassed on both suppressed modes. Looking on r/NFA it seems like a few others may have had similar experiences and had POF send them a new piston with a smaller port to compensate. I'm going to try the H2 buffer route first and if that doesn't fix the issue I'll reach back out to them.
Bobathaar@reddit
This is the di model btw not the piston gun. Generally known to suffer from the same issues as the ruger sfar in that, well, you're really not supposed to be shooting .308 out of at AR-15 sized receiver... and both companies haven't quite figured out how to pull it off yet (seeing as ruger pretty much ripped off this gun).
The concept is good but there are so many horror stories of things just not working that it isn't surprising that the top shelf AR-10 market, the Spear market, and the Scar market are still where it's basically at.
No-Afternoon-8035@reddit
My SFAR runs like a champ and eats everything with the shit OEM gas block swapped for a $39 aero low pro adjustable. Awesome ride for the $.
Scatterbine@reddit
This would be the first ever report of a functioning SFAR. I'm gonna say video, with proof of no case head failures, or it's BS.
No_Artichoke_5670@reddit
The SFAR is actually pretty popular over on the AR10 sub. The stock gas block seems to be hit or miss (was more miss than hit when it was first released), and is nearly always the cause when you hear about an issue with the rifle. My buddy has one, and his has been flawless with the OEM gas block (close to 1,000 rounds the last time I saw him). I've been debating getting one and just throwing a RifleSpeed block on it to play it safe.
No-Afternoon-8035@reddit
You must be right but here's a stage from the last rifle match where it won high overall by over 20%.
https://youtu.be/DFG7I4Nvmgk
I just got it and don't have a ton of rounds on it yet, maybe 300, but if something breaks we fix it and shoot on.
Scatterbine@reddit
I'd love to see that brass.
Spirit117@reddit
Hop on YouTube did a pretty detailed series on how he got his SFAR to not suck and it seems like the solution for ruger really should be to increase the price by 50 or 100 bucks and put on a nice AGB from factory.
Until ruger fixes that, it sucks buying a completed rifle from factory that likely won't work properly, won't be fixed if you send it in for repairs, and if you want to fix it yourself it requires completely dissambling the thing and installing a new AGB. They might replace it for you if you send it in, but the new one might suck just as bad because replacing it doesn't fix the issues.
bongripsandfaketits@reddit
Same story on mine. I got it with intentions of it probably needing something fixed which ruger is pretty solid at keeping people happy. Shoots lights out. Threw an acog and huxwrx on it. Only thing I didn’t like was the charging handle so got rid of that. Still want to do some tuning via gas block and captured buffer. But no complaints.
Subverto_@reddit
My SFAR appears to run great after a trip back to Ruger where they replaced the barrel and gas block.
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
I just ordered a piston one from them. Very much discounted as well. Guess I’ll find out if my bolt will hold up.
Send_It_Linda_308@reddit
I have a piston revolution, its seen likely 1000+ rounds with no issues whatsoever. Its my go to.
saucegod@reddit
Fuck these dudes
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
POF or Battlehawk?
Loppsided_Loppster@reddit
No experience with the .308 but I have a 6.5 creed prescott (forged receiver version) that is an absolute tack driver. I did have to add an adj gas block block to get ejection where I wanted it but not many under 11lbs dmr’s with full power optic and loaded magazine
Outrageous-Ice-412@reddit
Hello , I am considering one of these. How was your reliability without the AGB? Thanks.
Loppsided_Loppster@reddit
Never shot it without an agb, I pretty much only run suppressors now on all my rifles. Everything I heard on ar10 type guns, even for traditional big frame ar10’s, said you need an agb so I bought one.
Loppsided_Loppster@reddit
If you buy the revolution rifle not the Prescott version it comes with an adjustable block.
According_Bird_6450@reddit
Why so expensive for a fuckin AR?
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
It fires .308 in an ar15 frame
According_Bird_6450@reddit
I know what an ar10 is. Still about $700 overpriced
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
It’s an AR15
According_Bird_6450@reddit
Oh it just takes ar10 mags then
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
It uses the same bolt dimensions the 556’s use, they say they use a special alloy so it’ll hold up against .308 pressure.
brianstheman@reddit
Effectively, yes. Same frame & BCG size.
Odd-Internet-3876@reddit
It's not for an AR10 and not for what you get quality wise.
hbatneal@reddit
I am not one to judge their business, they can do what they want to. I will say the dealer price is well above 1500. Are they trying to liquidate product? Even at a loss? Or have they had these guns in stock so long they were worth $1500 when they bought them so long ago?
Bearloom@reddit
You would have to ask their distributors what the motivation is, but you're not the first dealer account to point out that some of the prices they list - after accounting for processing fees - put them at a profit margin of ~1%.
It's why I've suggested that their issues stem from being run so lean they legitimately can't afford to provide customer service.
MonoTrauma@reddit
So how did an 1800 dollar gun suddenly become a 2800 dollar gun? Fuck no.
Junction91NW@reddit
POF is the flaming 8 ball wallet and chain of the gun world. It owes child support in 3 states and can’t hold down a job. Bar S lunch meat and plastic half gallons of vodka.
Foxxy__Cleopatra@reddit
I'm always going to hold a huge grudge against POF taking the SIG route on the Tombstone by using it's customers as beta testers. The POF Tombstone was a huge POS that flopped so hard that no one wants to touch the manual-action-detachable-box-mag-fed-9mm concept with a 10ft pole even though there's still plenty of demand for such a gun and it'd be an incredible suppressor host 10x more practical than Henry Big Boy X and about half as cheap to feed /rant
WarlockEngineer@reddit
Henry is making something like that in 5.56/300 blk:
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2024/01/23/shot-2024-henry-lever-action-supreme/
Foxxy__Cleopatra@reddit
Yep, when Henry first announced the Supreme in 2023, they said it would be released in Q1 2024, but here we are at the end of Q3 and still no word of an update, seems like they're too busy releasing
to get around to dropping the Supreme, or tooling up more than a dozen All-Weathers or Big Boy X's at a time, ya know, stuff people have actually been clamoring for and would actually help proliferate the incredibly stunted market of suppressor-ready lever actions.
Luckily we also had Bond Arms and FightLite Industries both announce lever action AR15 lowers during SHOT Show 2024, and Rock Island Armory actually just released to retail their threaded box-mag version of their 22LR lever action this quarter, so the suppressor-ready detachable-box-mag-fed lever gun market is still picking up more and more momentum.
laskmich@reddit
Small frame 308’s are so hot 🥵
renegadeGDI@reddit
Gun is trash, sold mine after a few range trips, super unreliable
Helmsshallows@reddit (OP)
Other POF’s are marked down, check prices in cart.
