They turned out to be totally justified in their criticisms of the 2020 model, glad Ford listened to feedback.

Ford can't afford to eff up their trucks or SUVs because of their popularity in the general car market..... and also because that's all they sell now lol.
Trumpsuxassholes@reddit
Well using a wet timing belt system on turbos is catastrophe in waiting. These belts don't take much mileage to start to fail. That and cheaper and cheaper plastic parts. It's infuriating.
randeus@reddit
These things are surprisingly fast.
1trickana@reddit
Tuned they are a riot, can embarrass Chargers and Camaros
bestselfnice@reddit
Stock they're 55 HP shy and 1,000 lbs heavier than a V8 Camaro, and it looks like tunes are good for 30-75 HP (Ford performance, ZFG high octane exclusive).
I'm failing to imagine how that would justify your comment.
Zcypot@reddit
In real world it’s enough to catch faster cars off guard. I walked a 392 with my Denali when I got a 15mph head start on him lol. We went up to 80ish. Straight up he dusted me no contest at the light lol. 410whp 460wtq on my 6.2.
iam_LLORT@reddit
15mph roll and the hit isn’t impressive on another car racing to 80 😂
I gapped a school bus earlier that wasn’t racing too
randeus@reddit
An ST caught me off guard once. I wasn’t expecting a race or anything, but he took off hard from the light hard and it took me some throttle to catch up and pass him. AWD and tons of torque does a lot.
1trickana@reddit
Sorry didn't mean tuned, FBO they're good for 700-800HP
bestselfnice@reddit
Are we calling bigger turbos bolt ons nowadays? Lmao
redditisawasteoftim3@reddit
All those components use bolts didn't they?
michlantecuh@reddit
Soon as you open the engine it's no longer considered bolt ons.
redditisawasteoftim3@reddit
That's just like your opinion man
bestselfnice@reddit
I think they were joking
TenguBlade@reddit
At a drag strip, a Camaro SS or Charger Scat Pack will have enough power to pull ahead. In a stoplight race, a tuned Explorer ST can keep up because of AWD.
bluedaytona392@reddit
They can try.
hugh_madson@reddit
They said they'd take it over a cx90 on driving characteristics, reddit in shambles
DocPhilMcGraw@reddit
Hopefully Todd Willing being head of design now at Ford he can straighten out the mess in this design language.
I don’t know how we went from this to this in less than a decade.
Liet_Kinda2@reddit
Well, Todd willing, he will.
DanilaIce@reddit
DON'T.
delebojr@reddit
It did the opposite of the Traverse which went from this to this
TenguBlade@reddit
Todd Willing had nothing to do with this. In fact, design in general had nothing to do with it. They just copied the MY2023 China Explorer refresh for the sake of saving money.
Mydickisaplant@reddit
This ain’t the argument you think this is. They’re both bland and ugly
pvdp90@reddit
I don’t mind either of those. The front on that existed inbetween them is the worse one by far
The_Strom784@reddit
Seems like it got stung by a bee and is suffering from anaphylaxis.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
Neither of them are good looking to me, but this 2025 refresh made the current Explorer worse looking up front. The interior is better though.
Big_Size_2519@reddit
The original explorer savage geese vid for this generation is an all timer, They literally hated that car
Dangerous-Air2566@reddit
For good reason, the roll out of that Explorer, which used to be their bread and butter, was a total shit show. Jim Farley is a hack and has been a disaster from the very get-go
delebojr@reddit
The average time to develop a vehicle is 4.5 years. Since Farley took over in 2020, the earliest program that he "controlled" entirely wouldn't be released until this year, at the earliest.
SireEvalish@reddit
Jim Farley was not in charge when the sixth gen launch. Joe Hendrichs (sp?) was the guy who ended up getting the blame and "retired" shortly thereafter.
Own_Pass_926@reddit
I have some stock, and we had to vote whether to keep using child labor a few months ago. They recommended we vote to keep it going. Lol
kartdotmiata@reddit
I missed the roll out of the Explorer, but I saw the reveal of the new Mustang... Idk who put on that presentation, but was it also Jim Farley? I'm not sure if him or the writers should take the blame for that one...
justgoaway0801@reddit
Didn't the fucking car slide off the ramps?
daver456@reddit
My dad has the previous gen Explorer Sport and it’s terrible too.
TenguBlade@reddit
Farley wasn’t in charge during either development or launch of U625.
Shmokesshweed@reddit
Thank you.
BTTWchungus@reddit
All justified too, Ford shit the bed big time releasing it. It was like watching the 2012 Civic debut all over again
Liet_Kinda2@reddit
It takes true creativity and inspiration to put the Explorer back on a RWD platform and somehow make it suck more than the one based on a fucking Taurus.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
The 2025 model is slightly improved, but I still wouldn’t choose it if I had to get a 3-row midsize CUV/SUV.
vampyrelestat@reddit
How could they destroy the front end so bad? Are they stupid?
Liet_Kinda2@reddit
It’s so bad. Like, it wasn’t great but it was okay. This looks like they cut the grille out with a sawzall.
hiyeji2298@reddit
Welcome to having China influence vehicle styling even in America.
clauderbaugh@reddit
The ST was one of my last to options for SUV. It was between this and a WL Grand Cherokee. I like my GC but part of me wishes I would have waited for the updated ST or even the 2025 Limited as it has the same engine.

Why would you buy a cop car?
