Marty's Recital

The Dude had no obligation to attend Marty's recital, which is one element which show's The Dude's true character. He's a good guy, and while not being able to pay rent on time, he doesn't act avoidant, is cordial, and even brings his friends in support.
RIP Marty.

The “What Have You” is truly a remarkable performance.
Bravo, Marty!

It’s his dance cycle.

I always assumed this was a bit of a quid pro quo. Marty doesn’t make a big deal out of the rent in exchange for Dude’s attendance.

When I was younger, I attributed Marty's anxious behaviour, and request the Dude slips the 'rent' under his door, to be due to the Dude paying his rent in weed.
dejour@reddit
Wasn’t he talking during the performance?
GeoHog713@reddit
Yeah but he parks in handicap spots
