Low mpg on new car?

Just got a new 2024 Ford Edge 2.0L, only had 10 miles but l've been driving and it's up to 65 miles, just wondering if the low MPG (15mpg) was due to it having barely any miles? Just worrying because my last car I traded in had low mpg (13mpg) and it was because it had a old and bad engine

You're really still breaking in that engine (though it doesn't NEED to be broken in, that's effectively what you're doing). That, plus what others noted (the computer reads an average over time and you've just not driven this enough to get a good average).
Finally - are you sure you bought the right car?

Use fuelly, calculate REAL, actually MATHMATICALLY PROVEN MPG, and do not trust or live by a trip computer.

You can't get an accurate assessment of MPG over 40 miles. And the fuel mileage computers in most vehicles aren't super accurate.
Hand calculate your MPG. When you fill up next time, keep track of what your odometer is at. Drive until at least half a tank. Fill up again. Divide miles driven by gallons pumped.
A ford edge is only rated at 21MPG in city, and that's under ideal conditions. If you were worried about MPG you probably should have made sure the vehicle you were buying was rated for good MPG.

I love the fact that we're still buying new cars that get worse mileage than the new cars built during the fuel crisis of 1973 that caused alotta manufacturers to offer cars running on diesel 7 years later because it was so much better for the consumer's mileage

So it my be that the gas was bad. City MPG on the car is 21 from what this say.

Or the fact the average was based on test drives and moving around the parking lot. Dude said he had 10 miles on it...
rudbri93@reddit
its averaging the economy from the miles youve driven, if you have driven a lot more city miles than highway itll read low because stop and go kills fuel economy. give it time so it has more data to work with.

Have you reset the trip computer? The average of those 65 miles is going to be lower just from test drives and driving around the dealer lot
