One of the snippets I saw was them opening a backpack with drugs in it, telling a child that sometimes drugs are okay to deal with issues. No idea if I could find that particular snip now but I was pretty stunned anyone would be so ridiculous as to actually put that into a cartoon.
That may be so, but it's literally a spin-off from scooby which is one of the most classic childrens cartoons ever. Either way; luckily no one will watch it anyway.
Yes I agree, but what I'm saying is that it's unlikely a kid or parents sees a screener or poster for a slasher film and instantly think it's suitable for the kid to view, where as a cartoon spin-off of scooby? Could imagine quite a few sat to watch it expecting something different.
Either way though as I say - neither will really be watched I'm sure.
So itâs not the parents fault for not taking the extra 5 seconds to see the rating on it? But no itâs her fault for making it a cartoon so it must be suited for kids.

What pisses me off is the Despicable Me movies kept pushing more and more onto those stupid yellow, talking tampons and less on Gru, because Steve Carrell is genuinely one of the funniest dudes and has a pretty decent rap sheet of some films including Dinner for Schmucks and Ron Burgundy.
I'm with this guy. If you want a real bad movie from Blomkapt or whatever you have to see the one about the haunted pneumonia ward or whatever the fuck it was. Demonic? One of the worst horror movies I have ever seen.
Damien Chazelle, director of whiplash and lalaland. They're not bad movies, but his most recent ones The Stunt Double (2020) and Babylon (2022) were a definite downgrade from his earlier works
First Man pretty good too⌠i never even heard of The Stunt Double, might give it a goâŚ
Babylon is a good example of high on own supply as with a half decent editor it would be great. but it it is very jerking off how cool he is for making movies. and then toby mcguire bit is unwatchable. soundtrack is killer.
I think it's also important to realise that if someone has a really successful movie or something, then they did substantially better than their average with it, and statistically is quite probably that the next ones won't be as good.
Michael Cimino comes to mind. He directed The Deer Hunter, was showered with praise and adulation, and was basically handed a blank check to create his magnum opus: Heaven's Gate. A movie almost no one remembers except as a massive flop that lost United Artists a fuckton of money and led to them being acquired by MGM.
Artists in general need to learn when to fuck off. No one is perfect, if you don't have real passion/inspiration for whatever you're working on its time to stop.
Yeah they should learn to turn down free lambo money that has literally no negative consequences for them, I mean the didactics are obvious here, society couldnât be clearer that thatâs not how youâre successful

M knight was the lowest problem with ATLA. He gets all the blame but it was non-stop studio interface straight down to the casting. The white Katara? Some producer producer promised her a role in a movie and shoved her in there.
Whatâs interesting is that ATLA and After Earth both made money (not a LOT but they did) but the studios realized the audience response was so toxic they didnât continue the franchise.
George Lucas wrote the prequels which at the time were widely heralded as ruining Star wars. Then Disney was like "No, THIS is how you ruin Star wars" so in comparison they don't seem as bad anymoreÂ

Hell, even Mike Judge misses sometimes and I fucking love the dude.
tbh it's not Velma's badness that ticks people off, it's how absolutely meanspirited the show is.
Bloodsoaked Velma twerking over the maimed, dead body of Fred's mother can't be explained away through "it's just bad writing" - that's the writer being absolutely vile.
Or it's a poor attempt at making adult comedy cartoons (which almost always suck anyway) targeted to an edgy far left audience (which is a super niche audience, but a real one none the less), no surprise it turned out garbo

What? That episode was great. When it aired the cast were talking like Dennis was gone for good and that Mindy was replacing him. People were losing their fucking minds over it.
Then she played a straight man character for the episode until the reveal
From a glance nothing as bad, but it's her most recent project and her other stuff before seems to be getting more mediocre over time with some standouts here and there (but those standouts seem to have a lot of addictional names attached so who knows)
Also like.... If anon's issue with Velma in that shit show was that she was brown and not that she was an unlikeable bitch I question his ability to analyze media.
I think thereâs still something to say about it. The character is a white character, why change it? I donât see an episode of the boondocks and go âhmm we need one of these characters to be white for me to feel included!â. Why do we lazily change characters skin colors rather than making new and interesting characters if you want more diversity. I think thereâs numerous bits of criticism that you can throw at the show.
It's not like race has literally ever been relevant to her character, like she's never even been explicitly said to be white even if she's traditionally been portrayed with lighter skin her eye and hair color make Hispanic or Asian equally possible because again it's never been important enough to come up. And it's not like it's even a retcon as it is the tradition of the franchise to start a new continuity with each new show with some redesigns being par for the course. Plus giving any attention at all to it just distracts from the multitudes of real issues with that version of the character and the show in general.
I don't even know what you're trying to say, good lord. "To their fish mouth slipping onto the hook" what does this literally mean????
It feels like you're a 6th grader trying to over write a paragraph to hit a word quota, turning the whole thing into a mush of big words and bad grammar
From what I can tell she wasn't even that involved in Velma outside of being a VA. She was an executive producer (which in and of itself is often a pretty meaningless title), but I can't see any writing or directing credits anywhere.
I hate her because she sets back south asians and perpetuates stereotypes constantly, there are legitimate reasons to dislike this woman, why on earth would you pick out the one good thing she's done anyway lmao.
She just wanted to self insert as Velma and then ship herself with Daphne while she fucks Fred, thatâs legit the whole show, or not I didnât watch it.
Mayo sandwich is way better than dying of dysentery from the goop scoop you get at the local market, and atleast my sister consents to the fucking where as you just drag women into dark alleys and rape them with your other stinky poo hand friends
lolol white ppl rape more than anyone. vikings, police, catholic priests, you goys are like 16% of the world population and have built literal empires on it. you love it so much you legalize child rape by allowing it when they are forced into marriage. the uk had so many rapists they shipped them to their own continent, today we call that island nation Australia. Youâre probably a rape baby and dont even realize it. and even if you did you wouldnât mind, thatâs how ingrained it is in your culture hahaha.
Nothing against victims or SA in general but how was this such a well known thing in those circles, literally joked about on air. And women still followed him to a hotel room pretending it was strictly professional
Itâs gotta be like a Harvey Weinstein thing, not just that theyâre getting a blowjob but that itâs from a powerful famous woman who millions wish could have from her.
To be fair it seems she genuenly did write some funny episodes for the Office. It seems she was always full of mental issues but it only got worse as time went by.
They were pretty open about that - they literally claim that they're very similar in dynamic to their characters on the show. It's also fairly likely her child is BJ Novak's.
A lot of the side characters' actors were also writers on The Office so I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them essentially wrote their characters to be self-inserts.
I mean that because Mindy Kaling wasnât the âPamâ of the office people assume she didnât do much even though she mightâve written some of their favorite bits
I guess I was extrapolating to some âmusiciansâ that donât write a lot of their songs but have a lot of hits. Like writing and performering are two separate skills and some people think that performers do it all.
Idk if that makes sense Iâm a little crossfaded sorry
Thatâs actually very interesting, the writers wouldnât have to on camera all the time as most of the show took place in the other room of the office
The Sex Lives of College Girls (underrated, pretty funny show)
Never Have I Ever (I donât like it but not terrible, not hated, huge fanbase and 93% on RT)
Mindy Project (hated by men but loved by women which is fine cuz thatâs who itâs written for)
Champions was bad but on the same level as every other cheap sitcom of that era (The Ranch, Kevin Can Wait, Disjointed, Workin Moms, Breeders, Great News, Young Sheldon, etc. all basically the same level)
Finally Velma: unfairly attacked by racists and trolls pretending to care about Scooby Doo purity. Yes, it was bad. Very bad. But it was a media sensation, memed to death instead of just ignored. Itâs gone down as the worst show ever made but itâs actually on par or slightly better than many adult animated garbage shows. Brickleberry, Paradise PD, Hoops, Fugget About it, Chicago Part Aunt, Crash Canyon, Momma Named Me Sherrif, Mulligan, Bless the Hearts, Royal Crackers, Goode Family, Strange Planet⌠even Digman yet Andy Samberg is still generally loved. Why is Mindy hated so much more than any of those terrible show creators? Because woman. Brown woman even.
To be fair writers haven't been able to write good male characters apart either. They're all just generic no nonsense stoic action badass dude with no depth.
Iâm so tired of this trope . Wish theyâd just take inspiration from Ellen Ripley: smart, compassionate, and instantly likable but also extremely brave and hard to kill
If Ripley came out to today, she would be absolutely torn to shreds for pushing âwoke propagandaâ. Especially if she ever dared to mention the fact that she was a woman.
I like how people here are more mad about a velma being writen as a mean girl then they are about mindi kackling sexually assaulting a set hand or someone on the offeice and told him basically "tell anyone and you're fired lol jk but for reals haha"
Mindy Kaling, don't let the post fool you. She was also part of the writing team for the office and wrote some of its best episodes as well as having a minor role in the show.
She went on to create and write the Velma show which is considered one of the worst cartoons in recent memory. Which is why people are hating on her.
fuckers in this thread are soft as shit, no wonder yall needed an offshoot sub of 4chan, this is babies first 4chan playset tier of taking shit seriously.
She's not actually credited as a writer anywhere for the show. Not sure if that's because she knew it was fucking atrocious and scrubbed her involvement outside of being a VA or if she genuinely had no involvement in the writing.
Mindy Kaling, don't let the post fool you. She was also part of the writing team for the office and wrote some of its best episodes as well as having a minor role in the show.
She went on to create and write the Velma show which is considered one of the worst cartoons in recent memory. Which is why people are hating on her.
She wrote and had a major part in The Office and most fans of the series refuse to let go of the very brief and not very memorable cultural impact the show has.
Come on that's bullshit, she did a lot of good writing on The Office. But her talent definitely took a nosedive since then. Velma should never have made it passed the pitching phase.
âGlorified extra on the office,â get the fuck outta here with that. She was a writer and exec producer and wrote some classic episodes. Yeah Velma sucked but not because Velma was âbrown.â Jesus
She wrote 24/201, so almost 1/8 of the show but at a certain point shows like that are just on autopilot. What should we do next? âAhh fuck, just have Michael fall into a Koi pond or some shit, I donât knowâ
Well, she did write some of the universally loved episodes of The Office US, so idk if no talent would be smth I'd describe her. Maybe just someone who doesn't know her limits
Okay?? And where did i say they aren't. All you said is she's talentless, considering she wrote a lot of the universally beloved episodes in The Office I'd say that requires at least a smidge of talent
I haven't seen any of her work post Office, but I read something about her original plan for the cartoon wasn't well received, so she repackaged it as a Scooby Doo reboot to garner interest in the project.
She co-wrote quite a few episodes and even directed some of them so she probably did a very good job for The Office, but damn her latest work is awful and she seems obnoxious.
It's purposefully downplaying her role in the office, mostly her behind the camera work on the show which included writing and directing several episodes.
ChuckVideogames@reddit
This is wrong. She didn't just "turn Velma wrong"
She also turned her into an asshole.
stormcomponents@reddit

I don't think a slasher film is the same situation as a cartoon, personally.
Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
Both are garbage spinoffs of children's media that, in an attempt to appeal to an adult audience, they completely botch any possible appeal
stormcomponents@reddit
Yes I agree, but what I'm saying is that it's unlikely a kid or parents sees a screener or poster for a slasher film and instantly think it's suitable for the kid to view, where as a cartoon spin-off of scooby? Could imagine quite a few sat to watch it expecting something different.

Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
Comically small, assumedly length wise, thankfully we don't have to actually see it

"your specific act of thought" bro wtf đ
StrongLikeBull3@reddit
Yeah everyone who sat in that little separate office was a writer or director, thatâs why theyâre in a separate area.
SuicidalTurnip@reddit
From what I can tell she wasn't even that involved in Velma outside of being a VA. She was an executive producer (which in and of itself is often a pretty meaningless title), but I can't see any writing or directing credits anywhere.
whitetip23@reddit
Fair enough.
It's still a complete bag of shit, however.
OldManMoment@reddit
Bags of shit are still useful as fertilizer. Velma, on the other hand, not so much.
whitetip23@reddit
LOL
Quality post right hereÂ
SuicidalTurnip@reddit
Calling it a bag of shit is generous.
LemonFlavoredMelon@reddit
I thought Executive Producers were the one's who basically yeeted money at people to get the project done.
SuicidalTurnip@reddit
Sometimes, but not always.
It's very common for actors to get Executive Producer credits as a part of their "compensation" for a project.
TheWiseBeluga@reddit
Didnât she admit to kissing Fredâs VA without his consent during one of the recording sessions?
AntDracula@reddit
Yes she's admitted to straight up sexual assault. And it was laughed at, on a night show.
SteveImNot@reddit
Yeah but everyone on the office was a writer for the office. But didnât the cast only right the worse half of the show after Steve Carrel leaves?
WhiteAsTheNut@reddit
The problem is the office isnât that funny to begin with itâs basically one step from friends if you think about it.

Beneficial_Pear9705@reddit
lolol white ppl rape more than anyone. vikings, police, catholic priests, you goys are like 16% of the world population and have built literal empires on it. you love it so much you legalize child rape by allowing it when they are forced into marriage. the uk had so many rapists they shipped them to their own continent, today we call that island nation Australia. Econmajorhere@reddit
Nothing against victims or SA in general but how was this such a well known thing in those circles, literally joked about on air. And women still followed him to a hotel room pretending it was strictly professional
jobitus@reddit
It's plausible that some of them were innocent enough to believe it.

IRideZs@reddit
BJ Novak was hitting that im pretty sure
Foxehh3@reddit
They were pretty open about that - they literally claim that they're very similar in dynamic to their characters on the show. It's also fairly likely her child is BJ Novak's.
blaqsupaman@reddit
A lot of the side characters' actors were also writers on The Office so I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them essentially wrote their characters to be self-inserts.
Captain_Sacktap@reddit
IIRC everyone in the annex area was a writer, including the guy who played Toby.
Foxehh3@reddit
My favorite "side characters as writers" is the Paul Lieberstein (Toby) was a main writer on King of the Hill.

MikeTheDude23@reddit
Another celebrity with zero self awareness? Get out of here, noooo way...
IRideZs@reddit
She was a writer for the office so, bit more than an extra
Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
This was the whole point of the annex room.
So they could have writers not have to act out background appearance on episodes they where... Y'know... Writing
That's why Toby, Ryan, and Kelly specifically were placed there
geofox777@reddit
People cannot comprehend that someone would be a good writer but not a good performer
Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
Wdym by this?
I think all 3 of those people play their character fine, it's just a time saving thing
geofox777@reddit
I mean that because Mindy Kaling wasnât the âPamâ of the office people assume she didnât do much even though she mightâve written some of their favorite bits
I guess I was extrapolating to some âmusiciansâ that donât write a lot of their songs but have a lot of hits. Like writing and performering are two separate skills and some people think that performers do it all.
Idk if that makes sense Iâm a little crossfaded sorry
Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
Oh yeah I sort of get what you mean.
Not that was a bad actor per se, but that she was more of a side character so people can often underestimate their contributions to the show
EngineeringOne1812@reddit
Thatâs actually very interesting, the writers wouldnât have to on camera all the time as most of the show took place in the other room of the office
Honest-Birthday1306@reddit
that's right. a lot of the behind the scenes stuff on that show is really interesting

ozzythebeast@reddit
Who is she?
Fit-Paper-797@reddit
Pandering?
Amazing_BvB@reddit
She was a writer on the office
EternityLeave@reddit
wrote a handful of The Officeâs best episodes
Salaino0606@reddit
Who is she in The office?
shockingblve@reddit
well that's not true, she also turned Velma mean, something she never was in the original series
Tommy_____Vercetti@reddit
strong woman = mean in the context of the "message"
OldManMoment@reddit
"unlikeable cunt" is a big part of the """girlboss""" formula, for some unfathomable reason.
DJDemyan@reddit
Thatâs a thing that drives me nuts. The best leaders do it through compassion , not just being a dick
InquisitorMeow@reddit
To be fair writers haven't been able to write good male characters apart either. They're all just generic no nonsense stoic action badass dude with no depth.
AntDracula@reddit
Because the girlboss trope simultaneously: complains about toxic masculinity while also forcing women to have those same traits.
gary-cuckoldman@reddit
Iâm so tired of this trope . Wish theyâd just take inspiration from Ellen Ripley: smart, compassionate, and instantly likable but also extremely brave and hard to kill
Marik-X-Bakura@reddit
Always Ripley lmao, watch more movies
If Ripley came out to today, she would be absolutely torn to shreds for pushing âwoke propagandaâ. Especially if she ever dared to mention the fact that she was a woman.

Mindy Kaling, don't let the post fool you. She was also part of the writing team for the office and wrote some of its best episodes as well as having a minor role in the show.
She went on to create and write the Velma show which is considered one of the worst cartoons in recent memory. Which is why people are hating on her.
MAS7@reddit
I wouldn't call her role 'minor' she had a bigger arc than most characters.
stormcomponents@reddit
Unfortunately.
