We love the gruffalo and other Julia Donaldson books, Harry Mclary, were going on a bear hunt, and other children’s books that seem to be very popular in England but are fairly unpopular here on the west coast of the US. Do you have any other books you suggest that are popular (or not) in the UK? Thank you in advance

The Railway Series - the books that ‘Thomas The Tank Engine’ was adapted from & based off.
The very Jolly Postman - a series of books with a postman delivering letters that the kids can actually remove from the book.

The Hairy Maclary authori and illustrator Lynley Dodd wrote a bunch of other books, which included some of Hairy’s friends and are beautifully illustrated. We always liked Slinky Malinki, which is about a naughty cat!

As a wee one I was a fan of the Percy the Park Keeper books by Nick Butterworth! All of his stories (he did more outside of Percy) were very popular with everyone in our house. They're currently been read to my nieces and nephews so obviously still have the generational appeal!
