**EDIT 28 Feb 2024 -- **

For those looking up on Google, I paired the 5800X3D with the Mobo mentioned below a couple months ago now and it's been working great so far (:

This Mobo VRM cooling is quite modest, so as long as there's decent airflow I guess it should be just fine.

=============

First, what's gonna be my build as of tomorrow when the 5800X3D arrives, for context purposes:

CPU: R7 5800X3D

MOBO: Asus PRIME B450M-A II

GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 7800XT 16Gb

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 2x16Gb CL16

PSU: NZXT C850 80+ Gold 850W

Regarding Air Flow, my case and cooler for the 5800X3D are/will be the following:

Air Cooler: Peerless Assassin 120SE

Case: Lian Li Lancool 216

After reading for literal days about the combo of the 5800X3D and my Prime B450M-A II board, I got a complete mix of opinions regarding the weak VRMs and how it would be totally fine if the case was properly ventilated and CPU was aircooled, because the B450M-A II has got a very modest VRM heatsink. At the same time I read multiple people saying it was not recommended at all because I could damage my board or throttle the CPU heavily.

According to multiple benchmarks and videos and multiple dozens of posts on various forums, including this subreddit, and the subreddit's Discord members, I should stick with the B450M-A II and not switch it, as it was my original plan just to be on the safe spot.

The questions to be asked are the following: (Please I encourage you to educate me on this as much as possible!)

1- Will the 5800X3D work fine long term with the Asus Prime B450M-A II?

This configuration will mainly be used for gaming and very, very sporadic video editing and your usual consumption of multimedia of all kinds.

2- If you oppose to this configuration completely and felt like a new motherboard is 100% needed to avoid potential problems, which AM4 motherboard would you pick and why?

Keep in mind that I don't intend on switching to AM5 anytime soon, so please avoid redirecting the topic on me going for the new architecture :)

Oh, and the Motherboard is already updated to a version that supports the 5800X3D.

Thanks in advance to everyone!
