The world can fuck off. Topanga should be untouchable.
ShaneBarnstormer@reddit
I wonder if the actress (that played Angela) Fishel harassed for years on the set feels the same way. Probably not though.
JBMiller77@reddit
I had to Google this and the only things that came up was she was preg during filming and that someone came up to her and said the cast did not want her. Sounds like no one liked her very much. That says a lot.
future_hockey_dad@reddit
Who cares. Christ… grow up.
bratikzs@reddit
You said it. I can only add that. I fully agree. Yes. Fuck right off.
kkkan2020@reddit
I got a hunch she will do fine
Verbull710@reddit
Lots of young people have cancer these days
EfficientLoss@reddit
My friend died of breast cancer. I hope she makes it through
ruafukreddit@reddit (OP)
My understanding is that what they found is a precursor to cancer, and if they treat it, she shouldn't get cancer. I hope that's correct. In the article, she calls it stage zero
EastCoastDizzle@reddit
Glad it was found early and she will likely be fine. She’s always been a “friend in my head” as Wendy Williams would always say.
aucontrairemalware@reddit
Last week I had a mammogram callback. It came back clear. It’s a tough wait. This topic has been on my mind. Hugs to everyone affected by cancer.
ttw81@reddit
I had one in July. It was so scary. Hugs.

Baby girl…
PercentageRoutine310@reddit
I wish the best for her. A couple of my aunts had it. One of them had it twice on both breasts. It’s beatable. But it can also be bad that killed Shannon Doherty. All the best, Topanga. She’s born in the city I currently reside in.
cmgww@reddit
I’m glad they caught it early and she’ll be ok…But yet another “young” person being diagnosed with cancer…(43). Hate that this is becoming more normal. Cancer used to be (with some exceptions) a problem that didn’t appear until later in life. 79% increase in early onset cancer cases since 2010. Not good.

I had colorectal cancer last year and am cancer free now. My oncologist lamented something similar. He also said a lot of people drink heavily, eat meat and lots of bread/potato without enough fruits/veggies and he thinks that’s part of the issue too. As a proud carnivore who loved fries and whiskey, it didn’t sound far off to me. I rarely got fast food post 30 but before that I had lots of hostess and double cheeseburgers from mcdonalds with maybe not enough veggies and more than a few whiskey benders.
Be good to your body it’s the only one you get.
DuskformGreenman@reddit
Congrats and big ups on beating that coward bitch back into the pits of hell where it belongs! You give hope, friend! Thanks for sharing!
PopsiclesForChickens@reddit
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Not that commenter, but I had colorectal cancer last year too. I'm in remission, but now dealing with chronic health problems due to the treatments (besides the fact that there is a not small risk of reoccurrence). Cancer sucks. Life after treatment sucks too.
methodwriter85@reddit
I'm honestly kind of surprised that Shannen Doherty had breast cancer and not colon cancer. She had been diagnosed as having Crohn's disease. I had an e-friend who died of colon cancer when he was 34 and he told me that Crohn's disease really upped your chances of getting colon cancer.
PopsiclesForChickens@reddit
I personally had zero factors and I have no idea what caused mine. It's kind of terrifying.
onions-make-me-cry@reddit
I had a very rare 1 out of 100,000 lung cancer.
Beat it (it is an "easy" type to beat) but I will not be in the clear for recurrence for at least a decade, and I personally know a handful of people who saw a reference decades later. Not to mention the scanning itself is a cancer risk.
I don't think I will ever be the same. And in my case, my breathing isn't.
DuskformGreenman@reddit
Thank you for the perspective and I wish you the very best. Congrats on your victory in battle. Your war is still raging, but just know that you and everyone like you is a hero to me and everyone like me. Keep Pounding, friend!
darkr3actor@reddit
Same, I'm 39 had small intestine cancer at 35, 4 years cancer free after surgery.
CanyonCoyote@reddit
That’s awesome man! Congrats!
PopsiclesForChickens@reddit
I had colorectal cancer last year too, I don't know. I've had two drinks in my whole life and eat meat maybe 5 times a week.
CanyonCoyote@reddit
I was friends with someone going through it who is vegan and barely drinks so I am sadly aware there is no hard and fast rule. I’m just doing what I can to prevent recurrence. In my case I do think some of my life choice’s contributed to my cancer but I’d agree there is no way to know for sure.
They completely removed my rectum, gave me a temp ileostomy to help healing and I had six months of chemo so fingers crossed they got it all. I was also told no booze, no processed meats, very little red meat, lots of fruits and veggies, working out regularly as well as coffee and tree nuts daily. Obviously staying hydrated too. No idea if this will all work but I’m doing my damnedest.
I hope things work out for you and if you ever need to vent via dm, feel free to reach out. Good luck!
onions-make-me-cry@reddit
Count me in that group. I was also 43 at diagnosis.

Anyone who's spent a lot of time in San Fernando will have a higher chance. Closer to RocketDyne is has a very real impact on the population there.

A friend of mine went to her first mammogram at 40 because that's when insurance will begin covering them. Even though neither she nor her doctor felt anything she had stage 1 breast cancer. After treatment she is NED. Another friend of mine had no symptoms & then a cold wouldn't go away and she was stage 4. Thankfully after 5 years she's finally NED.
ruafukreddit@reddit (OP)
What does NED stand for? I understand it in context but have never seen/heard the term
L_wanderlust@reddit
No evidence of disease because you aren’t cured unless you die and it never came back. Until then there is always a risk
onions-make-me-cry@reddit
That's not exactly.how I've heard NED been described. No Evidence of Disease.means there's no evidence of disease, but it's not something that usually lasts until.deafh for most cancers.
At a certain point, for most cancers, if you're NED for 5 years (or whatever the data shows for your cancer), your risk of recurrence does go back to the same as someone in the general population getting it.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case for the very rare cancer I had. I know people who had it come back many decades later. It's so rare, once a person has had it, I don't think their risk ever goes down to the general population's risk.
481126@reddit
No evidence of disease
VaselineHabits@reddit
I'm slightly relieved by your last line. My SIL just discovered Stage 4... she's 40 😥 I'm hoping her youth is on her side
veety@reddit
Treatment has changed a lot in the last decade and people can now live with Stage 4 breast cancer for decades. Hopefully your SIL lives a long and happy life.
481126@reddit
I hope your SIL gets her NED. <3
onions-make-me-cry@reddit
I had a very rare lung cancer, stage 1. Lost 1/3 of my right lung, miss how it used to feel to breathe, and due to the type I had, I will need to be monitored for a decade or longer.
It's definitely a shit situation. I wish the best for Danielle. Only cancer survivors can ever understand.
TheSilverDahlia@reddit
I’m 47, had stage 2 melanoma 2 years ago, “beat it”, was just diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma last week after being NED. Fuck cancer.
mom_bombadill@reddit
I’m so sorry. My mom currently has Stage 4 melanoma and her cancer has responded quite well to immunotherapy. I wish you all the best ❤️
veety@reddit
Fuck it all the way to hell. Stupid cancer.
probablyatargaryen@reddit
That’s absolute shit, man. I hope you kick its ass again and never hear from it the rest of your days
mom_bombadill@reddit
Oh thank goodness it’s caught extremely early and is very treatable. Sending love to her and also ladies let’s get our mammograms!!
mperiolat@reddit
F cancer. Seriously. All my best to Danielle and her family on the fight and recovery ahead.
ShortBrownAndUgly@reddit
Hope she recovers quickly and completely
ruafukreddit@reddit (OP)
Sounds like they caught it in pre-cancerous stages, which may be why she calls it stage zero.
Willing_Ant9993@reddit
Sadly, it’s still “real” cancer, most breast cancers start as DCIS in Situ before becoming invasive when they’re caught. I’m glad she found it early and hope her course of tx will be as smooth as possible. I was treated with chemo for invasive ductal carcinoma caught at stage 2 in January at age 44. Chemo for it all, surgery confirmed that. Restaged to stage 0, because I still have to do radiaton and continue infusions of targeted therapy all to prevent reoccurrence. Because DCIS presents in lots of clusters of calcifications and not a solid tumor, it often requires mastectomy to remove it (whereas with a tumor, chemo can shrink it and then lumpectomy can remove the tumor bed). And all the other meds age you and create their own problems (neuropathy, early menopause, heart problems, you name it). Breast cancer sucks so badly and the odds used to be/currently are 1/8 women (and men can also get it), I wonder if for our generation it will be even higher. I have no family history of BC, no genetic mutations (like BRCA), not overweight, non smoker for a long time, etc. Even now cancer free (which of course I’m grateful for!) the rest of the year will be consumed with treatment and recovery. Being under 50 makes me a "young" cancer patient but so many are getting dx'd in their 30's and even 20's now, it's heartbreaking.
monchichiface@reddit
Remember to schedule that mammogram and colonoscopy….
Kerensky97@reddit
I had a friend diagnosed with breast cancer at 42, and another at 35.
I don't know why but breast cancer ins just a 40 and older thing now. It's happening to women younger and younger. Get checked. If you have suspicions get a mamogram. If your doctor refuses, start shopping for a new doctor. My friend who got diagnosed at 42, TOLD HER DOCTOR she had lumps at 40, they refused to give her a mamogram until she had stage 4 cancer.
Don't let cheap ass doctors and insurance companies screw you. Demand health care if you have health issues.

Article says they caught it very early and she’s going to be fine.
ARCHA1C@reddit
That’s great news.
Still terrifying, and not a guarantee that she will be it, but it’s nice to have favorable odds.
