FIA and AGI written test similar?

If I do test prep for FIA through Sheppard, would I also be good for AGI test? I got 96% on FIA in 2017, and went all the way through ATP rating in 2021. I’m planning to finish up CFI and thought AGI would look good on resume if just one more written test.

AGI isn’t very tough, and if you did well with FIA and CAX, you’re almost certain to get a 70% or better. There’s no oral exam or check ride or grades of AGI rating on your ground instructor cert. Don’t overthink it – 70% gets the goods just as much as 100%.

If you know your instructor stuff it's identical enough to be a cake walk. There is 1 wrongly scored question that I happened to get on my written so there is that. If you did FIA and FII through Shep then I would probably grab the AGI and just pound it out. It's one of the smallest banks out there at high 400s low 500s of questions. Took me a weekend on the heels of FIA and got a 100%. The thing about AGI and IGI is they are the only test where your score really, absolutely doesn't matter. The "checkride" for that is just an admin one where they associate those scores with you the instructor. So all you gotta get is a 70. So if you don't think you can get a 70 grab the prep, otherwise go in blind. (That's what I did for FII on the heels of IR and got a 94)

It was different enough to make me uneasy during the test. I passed with like 83% after getting 95% on FIA with Sheppard air. I didn't buy the new gouge but I did study Quizlet for a few hours and there were a few questions on there that helped me out on the AGI exam.

With a high score on the FIA, you would do okay without prep on the AGI. However, Sheppard Air does a significant discount for repeat customers doing the instructor exams. And with the prep, you have a shot at scoring 100%
