How do some people become pilot at a ‘young age’?

I’ve seen articles about people becoming a B777/A350 pilot around the age of 22-25. How, since it takes years to finally fly on these planes?

Start at 18 Get sponsored by a non-US airline, go to school for 1 year and get a CPL/ME/IR, get rated on the A320 and fly it for 500 Hours and you can find yourself flying an A330/777/787 by the age of 21

how much would that cost

Ummm, how about hard work?
Maybe get a $15/hr job instructing? Maybe some other job in aviation that allows you the time and resources to fly? Scholarships, grants, and tuition programs? Money is A correct answer, but there is more that has to happen before you make it that far that fast then just money. You have to have the drive to do it.

I’m 22 and I’ll be applying for airlines jobs in about 12-18 months, I’ve been flying for about a year and a half, and went to a fast track program to get all my ratings in 7 months after completing my private. You either take out a big ole loan or be rich.

hey what fast track program did you do?

ATP, but it’s not the way I would go now. 100k for a zero to hero program? Insanity. There are better, cheaper flight schools out there that you can pay 30k less and get the same if not better instruction. ATP is great, but keep in mind the place is a machine, its job is to get you through quickly and it does it. Anything extra? Forget it.

Which way do you consider going? I’m interested in making a career change at the age of 28.
