Is 1 zero sugar energy drink a day bad?

I don’t drink coffee, but I’ve got into the habit in the last couple of months of having an energy drink every morning. There’s such contrasting opinions from doctors and the internet and I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand bad experiences of over indulging on energy drinks?
TheMalsh@reddit
No.
There’s your non bullshit answer.
Sweeteners won’t kill you and neither will sugar.
TheUnstoppableBTC@reddit
That’s a bullshit answer, there is a growing body of evidence that points to artificial sweeteners being atrocious for human health.
People are probably better off cutting it out if where they can, if they can.

The studies showing artificial sweetner to be detrimental to health only show that it is detrimental is extreme doses. As it turns out there is almpst zero evidence of negative effects from aspartame or almost any other artifical sweetner that isnt lead.

When I was a student I practically lived on energy drinks and cigarettes.
Heart palpitations and radioactive green piss were not fun.
Mysterious_Ad3706@reddit
How many energy drink a day ?
7ootles@reddit
I was probably drinking three or four litres of Boost at one point.
_piccioni2010@reddit
well that explains a lot then doesn’t it lol
seanwhat@reddit
It's not bad. Those who are telling you it's bad can't give you a reason why, other than that they are scared of chemicals they can't pronounce.
ThatZenLifestyle@reddit
It isn't particularly good but it is certainly better than having a sugary latte/mocha etc.
jdsuperman@reddit
Give me sugar over artificial sweeteners any day. Especially in an energy drink!
EverythingIsByDesign@reddit
There are emerging studies suggesting sweeteners used in sugar free drinks have a pretty disastrous effect of gut bacteria health.
I'd question your lifestyle if you're having to consume at least one a day. I personally only touch the red bull etc. if I'm on a night shift for the caffeine hit before driving home. IMO daily consumption is pretty extreme.
Few_Yogurtcloset_718@reddit
Which energy drink, how big is it and what's in it?
They're not all the same
Evening-Tomatillo-47@reddit
IMHO one is fine. Just don't drink 12 a day and then call for them to be banned because your heart exploded
GXWT@reddit
Is it technically unhealthy? Yes.
Is one drink (I’m assuming a can or 500ml bottle) a day going to kill you or have a measurable impact? Probably not.
But you’re actively aware of it and relying on an energy drink a day is hardly a good for the brain. Try swap it for a smoothie or something.
hamjamham@reddit
I'm guessing they're using it in the same way most people use coffee.
DeapVally@reddit
Not a great idea if no sugar is important. A LOT of natural sugars in fruit smoothies
GXWT@reddit
This is true. We don’t know if that’s a requirement for OP. If it is a requirement then obviously don’t do this.
They say zero sugar drink but I assume that’s them being ‘healthier’ than full sugar versions
That_Organization901@reddit
Sorry to be a bummer…
It depends, but generally they are worse than coffee due to the acidity and the concentration of caffeine and other stimulants.
Sadly, green tea doesn’t quite hit the sour sweet fun flavours of a Monster.
SlickAstley_@reddit
I'm not a physician, but my answer is yes
I've been through phases of having either one Monster, or three Coffees.
Coffee is largely benign
Monster will give me problems after 3 weeks continual use.
I don't think it's the caffeine or sweetener, it has to be all the other shite in there
Kindly_Pass_586@reddit
I’ve always wondered this as I drink one a day. It’s my morning routine.
Massive-small-thing@reddit
As a wake you up in the morning or a pick you up in the afternoon, 1 a day is not gonna do you much harm. The caffeine will speed up your metabolism help you maintain your weight unlike the sugar version. Just eat healthy and drink plenty of water too.
RainbowPenguin1000@reddit
“Bad” is a sliding scale.
It’s worse than just drinking water but it’s better than drinking full sugar coke or red bull.
I’ve drunk sugar free fizzy drinks every day for years. Probably unhealthy but they haven’t given me any medical issues or anything.
