People with recent air con, how did it cost to install and what's the maintenance like?

Live in a "link detached" house and am thinking over winter might get AC installed, probably 2 units inside one in main upstairs bedroom or hallway and the other in living room downstairs, what can I expect generally cost wise? Thanls

Through the wall heat pump/AC unit, installed for near as damnit £1400 on the button. It gets serviced once a year, but that's to maintain the warranty. Barely notice it on, keeps my office at 20 degrees all year round and I don't think I've touched it once since it was installed two years ago. My office is extremely well insulated though, which will make a big difference. I have two Mitsubishi units that were slightly over specified, it is basically on tick-over for its entire life.
