Good/Bad areas in Milton Keynes

Hey all,
I plan to move to Milton Keynes in a couple of years and I was wondering what are the bad areas to avoid & what are the good areas (nice areas to live)? What is the crime rate like?
Thanks!

Suburbs on the outskirts in the west and east are generally very nice but anywhere closer to the town centre besides Campbell park I would avoid same with lakes estate and rough estates in the north like fullers slade Stacey bushes ect

Bletchley is where I currently live, and it's great. There's the MK Dons stadium, lots of large shopping places around it, and there's a lot of really nice neighbourhoods.

Nice areas generally speaking in my opinion are the shenley’s, Loughton, Medbourne, kingsmead, some parts of whitehouse, tattenhoe, monkston, oakgrove etc. all the places above I agree with avoiding, along stantonbury, wolverton, greenleys, westcroft

I've experienced love and kindness from lakes estate to shenley church end. You're probably looking for a healthy lifestyle. I think you should see what you like and go from there.

…but still avoid lakes estate probably

Lakes estate is the biggest dump I’ve ever seen and I’m from Luton

Lakes Estate makes Houghton Regis look like Dubai
SuperEminemHaze@reddit
This is too funny hahaha good analogy
shdanko@reddit
Lmaoo my wife is from houghton Regis. I actually had to convince her to live in MK
shdanko@reddit
That is fucking saying something although I’d argue that the shitholes of Luton feel A LOT more unsafe than Lakes Estate.
SuperEminemHaze@reddit
Also a fair point lol
Beautiful_Shine_6787@reddit
No. See it and be grateful
shdanko@reddit
I see it every day. What am I supposed to be grateful for?
It was nice when it had that dinosaur statue thing like 20 years ago I’ll give it that.
NotDavid-Jatt@reddit
Grateful that you don't live there
shdanko@reddit
Lol that I am

Oakgrove, Milton Keynes Village, Middleton, Monkston and surrounding areas are nice places to live. Oakgrove has a lot of runners and dog walkers if you’re into that.

As said previously, avoid coffeehall, beanhill, fishermead etc. From my experience (born and raised in mk) Middleton, Monkston and surrounding areas are quite nice. Especially near Milton Keynes Village. I walk through there sometimes and used to live there and it was really lovely and a nice community. Good schools around there too if you’ve got kids or are planning on having kids in the future. Those areas are quite high in price, but personally I think they’re the nicest in mk

General consensus is that anything horizontal or north of the shipping centre is decent. Anything further down can be a bit run-down
SuperEminemHaze@reddit
Not sure that’s accurate as four of the most expensive states in MK are south of the shopping centre, and the estates immediately north are shitholes too lol
The better consensus is anywhere with straight roads is a shithole, anywhere with curved roads isn’t. Look on Google maps at areas like Fishermead, Coffee Hall, Neverfield etc and you’ll see how their roads are done vs likes of Milton Keynes Village, Monkston, Willen, etc.

Thats consistent with what I’ve seen so far thanks

Reminds me of how London is. North is good in most places and south is the opposite

Thanks for the tip, I'll work on my search bar skills and hopefully find my dream neighborhood!

Avoid areas in the north like Stacey bushes and netherfield aswell.

All the Shenleys and the estates around those (furzton / tattenhoe / Emerson valley etc) are generally quite nice and a good mix of all sizes of housing, and the estates feel nice and spacious. Lots of parks. I don’t have stats but in my experience they’re fairly low on crime rate and definitely of the lowest in MK. I’m in a different area of MK now and I’d move back there if I could.
polapts@reddit
Rule of thumb in the previous post is to avoid Estates with names of edible things e.g. Beanhill, coffehall, fisher mead, etc

"Stay away from straight road areas" should be in sub description.

Just go look around, everything is pretty close to each other. Many of the spaces offer something different, so it depends on what you what from an area. There are plenty of good v bad lists in this sub. From my POV I’ve lived in what I’d consider a not so great area, and now live someone I really like, but the difference really is what’s around. We wanted a new house, so we moved into a new build but now we are close to good schools, can walk to a nice supermarket and have 3 old areas with nice old pubs in then for quiz nights and Sunday lunches as well as direct access to parks and the lakes. If you want a house with more character then that takes you to a different place. Or if you want to be able to walk into town, or the station. Just take your time and have a good look around but be clear on what you want from an area (just my opinion).

Good advice thank yoi

This pops up around once a week or so. If you're able to work the search bar at the top of this sub you'd be able to see a few. :)

Nice one thanks!
