Honestly, I've used this for *decades*, probably since I was a teenager in the 80s (though, I used the gold tube). A teeny, tiny dab is great to seal out frizzies on curly hair.
For me, I was looking for something for shine… I have a pixie cut, and all the color is pretty much out since my last cut a couple days ago. I’m still on the fence about letting my grays be free!
I was 28, and traveled out of town for a two day testing and interview with Toyota. I knew I had salt and pepper hair, but the lights in the hotel vanity were kind of behind me. I stepped out of the shower and walked up to the sink looked at the mirror and spun around! I thought someone was behind me, but looked again and I saw a gray haired man in the mirror and it was me! I just couldn’t believe it. I just let it go after that. But for a man it is different I know.
I'm a Brylcreem guy myself. Seems less old manny.

Fun fact: my grandpa was born in the 30’s and wore his hair in the same style since had heard at one time that VO5 was being taken off the market. When he died in 2000 he had a whole bathroom cabinet full of these tubes!
I used that in the 80s. A tiny amount will suffice. I think it’ll say use a pea-sized amount but lentil-sized is still a lot. It smoothes things down. I don’t know why there would be a separate formula by hair color.
I think the yellow tint of the regular version would make white or light grey hair look yellowed and dirty over time. I assume this version is colorless.
