Any good RDP software alternatives

Nevertheless there are times when you need GUI access to Microsoft servers where RSAT does not suffice. Or production software that requires logging onto a software, because there’s no web interface. Plenty of reasons why RDP might be needed, but yes, it’s a protocol that should be narrowed down in usage & scope. I use mRemoteNG to store RDP sessions to on-premise servers & list up all devices I can SSH into like my switches, Linux production kiosk terminals, servers,… I limit access to my management server for those and only allow RDP on that for domain & enterprise admins on the local network. In case of emergency, both my network monitor and patch management solution allow RDP in a website tab via a temporary VPN tunnel. It’s a good way to ensure quick intervention without having to haul my laptop all places. (Both require logging on with SAML or OAUTH to MFA enforced Entra ID.)
