Why is this sub hyping this up so much?
Isn’t it just another person telling a story like Lue or Nolan or any of the other usual suspects?
Not saying it’s Bs and I would love for it to be true, but at the end of the day it’s just someone telling us a story that we have to take at face value.
Come on now, let's be fair - how could the BBC possibly cover something as trivial as this in a timely manner when they're so busy cranking out articles on the latest Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby drama? Aliens can fucking wait, yo, the BBC gotta keep us all up to date on This Morning.
Sort of? He's kinda noped out on the whole deal at this point, but he's still the most likable member of our Royal Family by a country mile, if only by virtue of appearing slightly more human than the rest of them.
This was featured on BBC Radio 4 this morning. With an interview with Nick Pope discussing it. For those that don’t know: Radio 4 is a more serious news/talk radio channel that typically wouldn’t touch UFO stories.
The good news is they actually treated it seriously (no sniggering presenter) and Pope provided a clear summary of the situation. The presenter did try to project it as a story about possible human tech at one point - although Pope reminded him that the whistleblower specifically mentioned non-human tech.
I never felt that but then again I was driving and maybe didn’t pick up on it. Just a bit shocked to even see it featured also. Pope came across pretty well I thought.
Yeah, we all know Nick Pop was as just a paper pushing clerk, but right now it's about making sure that the story keeps it momentum. So I'm all for it!!!
We dont need them. Truth is the truth, whoever proves it. The fact they say nothing just shows they are hiding information, and that's a good thing to be aware of (information cover up)
Yeah, I think so too. These major publications might want to bring something new to the table. If the NYT brings another Barnes article that's just pure laziness.
Pretty much: "We are aware of allegations from an individual whose credentials and work may have put him in contact with information of, as he calls them, "non-human craft". We are evaluating the information he has given to Congress and to the Executiveand will update you if there is anything of note. Next question?"
I’m somewhat new here, but I love the discussions and details I’ve found in this group. Can I ask a very “green” question? Would this still be nearly as big of a story if Grusch came out saying something along the lines of… “I’ve been informed by multiple independent resources that Roswell, Area 51, etc. are true and the US has since captured even more damaged debris and materials since.” Again, please forgive me for asking such an elementary question, but when when Grusch talks about the top secret recovery team which has been hidden for decades, Roswell is the first thing that comes to mind. I’m just skeptical about whether this story would be receiving the same excitement and attention if this was someone just stepping forward saying Roswell really did happen and we still have the materials. Again, I’m a newby so forgive my dumb question. Lol
Welcome to the party! 🥳
That's actually a great question. I think the extra spice here is the allegations of criminal conduct.
Telling the news "Roswell was real, y'all!" would be just another day in UFOs.
Telling congress "laws are *currently being broken*" is why this story is so big.
And we’re to believe that the US and any other countries that have managed to recover these vehicles over decades or longer have all managed to keep this a well-guarded secret without any major leaks, right? Or did they all land within US borders?
There are tons of eyewitness accounts of these nonhuman craft being recovered and taken away, even in suburban areas, they had not kept the secret, we just don't have access to the materials that they have recovered.
I’m not talking about “eyewitness accounts,” many of which are fake or have an earth-based technological explanation. I’m asking how every government and every intelligence agency throughout the world has, for decades, agreed to keep this all a secret. We can’t agree on basic things like human rights and protecting the environment. You’re telling me every loose cannon POS leader out there that could give a damn about world order is suddenly status quo when it comes to extraterrestrials?
Any logical person believes there’s other life somewhere in the universe. But you guys are deluding yourselves if you think this passes the smell test.
I don’t understand why this considers interesting. He offers nothing but hearsay. We’ve had eyewitness accounts from astronauts and pilots. We’ve had pics of UFOs released by the air force. This guy saying somebody told him a thing seems very little of anything in the way of information.
He submitted hundreds of documents to congress that back up his claim. Those documents are still classified and cannot be shared with the public. The DoD is currently authorizing him to say what he’s said so far. What other evidence were you expecting?
My only point is that public facing information is less evidentiary than things we have already seen like the video the air force released to eyewitness testimony by pilots and astronauts. We have not idea what is in the classified report. It may be amazing or it may be nothing. But all that the public has is this guy talking. Which is nothing
No, the public is now aware that the guy, who is one of the previous UAP task force leads, presented hundreds of official documents that demonstrate the US Government has a UAP reverse engineering program, who is involved, and location and numbers of UAPs in possession to Congress. The DoD literally cleared him to say that.
That’s what he SAID. He didn’t actually offer and proof of that. Did he? Was there something from the DoD or Congress supporting these claims? Aside from just the fact he submitted a whistleblower complaint. I mean that they substantiated the details.
Keep in mind, you are arguing the entire US government has lied to us for decades. This guy is a member of that government and we’re being asked to believe his claims as truth with no support. Why is he not also a liar? The fact he is saying things we want to hear doesn’t meant it true until hard evidence is presented. That’s the difference between a fact and a story. Evidence
Nothing will come of this yet people on this subreddit will swear that something big was found but being covered up lol. This is like the whole gme craze where people were twisting themselves in a knot all but guaranteeing that gme will take off.
This just popped up on my Google search of this topic.
It looks like the results below are changing quickly
If this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for reliable sources to publish information
So these interstellar space-faring civilizations have the technology to travel the immense distances between the stars -- and yet they are still incompetent enough to crash their vehicles *repeatedly*.
That's the part of this scenario that bothers me the most.
TheBlackVault has a good video on some of the red flags.
So it's either the extremely credible outlets are still digging or the whole story is not as credible as we have been led to believe.
One of the "red flags" that he mentioned is DoD giving Grusch the ok to talk about this. But if DoD didn't we wouldn't hear about it at all would we? So there is no way to not get a red flag then with that logic.
I subscribe to the NYT and sent them a letter of disappointment/request for explanation of why they aren’t running with a story written by an excellent investigator that they have showcased previously; Leslie Kean.
Local idiot stands in middle of town square and claims he's GOD. Local news reports on town idiot standing in the middle of town square claiming to be GOD. News aggregate site finds article and reports on the reporting of local idiot claiming to be GOD.
None of this means the local idiot is actually GOD.
Again there is not one piece of evidence that says this guy isn't either grifting or a simpleton parroting junk he's been fed. It's all the same bad actors over and over with just a different dummy put in front of the camera each time.
If your comparison was accurate then the city hall should've come on down and written new legislation with the "idiot" while several other members of the government swore he was telling the truth.
Telling the truth about what? That someone came up to him and whispered 'hey bud we got a dead alien in some bunker somewhere'. Maybe that occurred but it doesn't mean we actually have dead aliens in hidden bunkers.
Again how many times have we seen the same small group of people propping up outlandish claims only for numerous holes to appear once the story or people are scrutinized? Why one earth would the DOD give approval for this guy to go public with this story if even a fraction of it were true
What a lot of enthusiasts fail to understand imho is that the rest of the world doesn't really care much about most topics unless they are directly affected in some way.
With stuff like this, what exactly should people be hyped about? How is any of this going to impact lives on the individual level? People are struggling to feed their families, working 24/7 to afford housing, while trying to deal with a plethora of socio-economic issues. When it comes to politics, it's one bullshitter after another wasting our time as a society by implementing policies favoring corporations. Majority of people on this planet are being exploited, including children. People's rights are being taken away, women's rights are being eroded in nations that previously had less religious fanatics at the helm, environmental issues causing massive harm to a variety of species, including long-term survivability, etc.
At what point do you see aliens, or at least alien technology of some sorts cause any major interest, unless it is somehow capable of changing lives in a constructive manner?
One of the bigger questions will be why governments and agencies decided to hold back and artificially stifle progress for our species. And one of the main reasons will be nations concerned with handing out insights and technology that is way too profitable.
Capitalism rules this world and helps the power hungry to stay at the top. All of that would be less effective if we had access to technology beyond our understanding. Just imagine nations becoming independent of oil or other resources because they would have some energy source like fusion. Who really wants that to happen? Imagine resources being more accessible, maybe major industries being disrupted to the point they would not be profitable anymore? Who really wants that?
It really doesn't matter whatever was found, the vast majority of people on this planet won't be affected. If anything, it's going to be used to further oppress them and milk them and make their lives even more miserable so a few can own more land and more resources to waste it, while the rest keeps starving.
So why the hell should anyone even care about any of this?
While that is great, a lot of people are busy thinking what to do tomorrow to set food on the table for their family. Sadly that’s the common situation now :(
Yes, and it’s always been the case for many developments. I’m as working class as they come, the bottom of the pile, minimum wage slave, though I somehow seem to care about this.
That's not something most people care about, nor do they see how that kind of knowledge might be helpful.
You have to understand that the vast majority simply does not have the priviledge of spending time thinking about these kind of things. Additionally, they usually don't have neither understanding, nor appreciation for the universe beyond what impacts their daily lives.
It's why so many are hesitant, if not outright against financing research that is about space and/or related fields that do not seem to have direct application in sectors that provide consumer goods.
Oh well, that’s their prerogative I suppose. Just because some people don’t care, that doesn’t mean there’s no point to finding out answers. If that were the case, humanity would of never progressed.
I feel the same way. This was such a bombshell announcement that I was fully expecting *something else* to have happened by now. Some kind of even bigger, smoking gun moment.
But alas, nothing. All this dead air just makes the whole situation seem ridiculous. How is it possible that someone makes such a monumental claim and nothing comes of it?
Saw this body language expert talking about some deception on David Grusch's part, which seems a little worrying, especially because we have not seen any documents, and Grusch has not seen any UFO or ET, it's all just documents and hear say - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f18b9aCaEgk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f18b9aCaEgk)
His argument though is that Grusch might be lying because his body language shows anxiety and stress. Now imagine yourself sitting in that chair, knowing full well that when this footage air the entire world will be able to see your face and kniw your name and that you believe in aliens on Earth. If he wasn't nervous or anxious in that situation he'd be a psychopath.
I can't even bring myself to talk to my family about this because I don't know how they'd react. Telling the entire planet? I'd be shaking in my boots.
I work in the criminal justice system. Although it is not mandatory I've done a few courses on body language on a voluntarily basis. They were informative and good, but even the trainers added a caveat that it was far from precise.
The most memorable experience I had was working with a guy who was separately wanted for a shooting, but the investigators didn't have enough evidence to remand him in custody. He looked guilty as sin, I was certain he did it. Turns out he was just scared shitless as another bloke had tried to shoot him and they knew where he was during our appointment.
But the body language did not lie, see? Even though the reason he was panicking was a different reason all together. Thanks for sharing your experience.
he says that it could either be deception or stress/nervousness/fear. So really it doesn't really add anything to the credibility or lack thereof in regards to this.
NYT, WaPo, BBC, etc. are *very* conservative about running with this kind of stuff.
And for good fucking reason. They’re not as worried about being first as being right. That’s something that people seem to have forgotten in this new age of alternative media and the 24 hour news cycle. I guarantee they have people watching it very closely, but they’re going to do all the boring and tedious legwork of triple checking things before they run a story.
You know, the stuff that used to be called “journalism.”
That wouldnt make a difference. Does not matter who is writing about it. All that counts is the peoole that kept it a secret, and these people have reasons for it that have not changed and are very very mighty (money).
So in the end nothing will come out
Eye witnesses have also testified according to the fact check part 2 which described this section of the original article:
>Associates who vouched for Grusch said his information was highly sensitive, providing evidence that materials from objects of non-human origin are in the possession of highly secret black programs. Although locations, program names, and other specific data remain classified, the Inspector General and intelligence committee staff were provided with these details. **Several current members of the recovery program spoke to the Inspector General’s office and corroborated the information Grusch had provided for the classified complaint.**
https://thedebrief.org/intelligence-officials-say-u-s-has-retrieved-non-human-craft/
From the part 2 explanation:
TM: That’s correct. And that was another detail that was independently corroborated through individuals who would have been part of that process of the depositions and kind of interviewed in Congress and with the Inspector General’s office. There’s very tight-lipped information. **But I was told, and it was corroborated, that additional eyewitnesses provided information in support, corroborating Grusch’s claims to General Counsel and to the Inspector General.**
https://thedebrief.org/fact-check-q-a-with-debrief-co-founder-and-investigator-tim-mcmillan-part-2/
Not sure why everyones getting excited. This government approved whistleblower has not seen anything firsthand and is basically saying trust me bro some people told me and showed me things. He basically is a DOD approved disclosure agent at this point and everything he spouts should be treated as such.

Is there more to the story or is it just:
A legit bro was talking to guys who said trust me bro
And the government follows with the deny deny deny narrative
What is really going to happen?
The BBC won't follow - bearing in mind they live streamed all of NASA's recent event on the front page - Their tax payer funded and have a charter, one requirement is being able to verify themselves + independently verify a story - they won't be able to so it won't get published.
Virtually everyone has run the story at this point. NYT are likely trying to uncover new information that they can use to get a unique angle, rather than just reprinting the story like most other pubs have done.
NYT and others are probably just double checking everything at this point. They have to protect their reputation, but the downside for them is they will be late to the party.
Sort of like science, which for 70+ years ignored the subject out of fear.
Lol. I think NYTimes is on a conondrum. If they ran the story, it would contradict Julian E. Barnes, many attempts to paint the situation as a nothing burger.
Legit. BBC news has had a slow transformation over the last decade into the British Fox News/OAN. They could run a piece on flat earth and have an astronaut and atmospheric scientist but they would be cut off to ensure the flat earther (and of course Nigel, invited to give his opinion on the shape of the earth) are able to make their assertions, and then of course spent 5 minutes listening to Farage about how the Immigrants and brown people actually control the shape of the world.
People just watch whatever confirms their preconceptions and mock whatever doesn't. My preconception is that everyone is lying so I don't trust any of it and I mock anyone who trusts the propaganda arms of the intelligence community.
it's very common on bbc talk shows and such, they're always getting called out for it. i don't think i've ever seen them do it with their actual news though
>Legit. BBC news has had a slow transformation over the last decade into the British Fox News/OAN.
What are you on about? That isn't even remotely close to being true.
I don't think Julian's editorial slant is necessarily representative of the Times' overall orientation to this topic. They did, after all, publish Kean and Blumenthal's 2017 article that kicked off this whole latest chapter of ufology.
I suppose even if they wait a year, they still did the 2017 story and will go down in the history books as an important trigger in the disclosure process.
They just arent the main trigger
Lmao the NYTs has a reputation to protect? They should have started a long time ago. At this point, it’s a fish rag at the bottom of the Hudson that has already dissolved. The NYTs credibility is non-existent at this point. Only a memory.
It should be noted that the journalists who broke this story are Leslie Keen and Ralph Blumenthal who are the same journalists who wrote the story that made the cover of the NYT in 2017
I often hear and see stories from other news sources on reddit, well before reading it on the BBC.
They're funded by the TV license and not ads (main reason I use it- also I'm british). In my understanding, there's no revenue per click, so they tend to take their time a bit for fact checking
State broadcasters have responsibility to provide a service for everyone. They can't just follow what's popular, they are required to provide services for people with disabilities, people living in rural locations, local news, national news, international news, arts, etc.. It's a public service not a private money making enterprise.
Yeah, exactly. BBC is notorious for taking their time to report on an issue. In saying that, it's hardly slow, more like other outlets are quicker but less likely to check facts and sources etc.
I doubt we’ll see it in the **most** mainstream era sources until after the actual interview airs on Sunday.
Right now we’re in the pre-release hype cycle. They really don’t have anything to report except for a quick couple paragraphs, yet.
I believe on the newsnation YouTube channel. It will likely have pieces in print(text) media on thedebrief.com that follow the story
If you haven’t already, they’ve released a fact checking q&a along with the initial article on thedebrief. The two-part q&a piece, to me, is much more interesting than the actual article
I'd like to think that, but for it to take this long is starting to feel very weird.
It's like those with the power are showing how strong they are by ignoring reality itself, and/or making their cronies and underlings do it for them.
There's also the so-called "social media bubble" only showing you what their algorithms want to, and the obvious censorship and gatekeeping by Googlytube and wikipedia that has been rampant for years now. It's like the bars to the cage are starting to show and our tech and media wardens are exposed now, and this issue just illustrates it perfectly.
Looks like we have a job to do by directly sending these stories to people we know and care about, and helping to point them to credible people and resources to help get them up to speed. Which will seem like an oxymoron folks who haven't. Who is "credible" in the field people have been conditioned their whole life to believe is a "conspiracy theory"? I guess I see now why they tried to rebrand it UAP.
Honestly, if Grusch is on the up-and-up, as he so far appears to be, then the NYT would be going through some serious info vetting right now and prepping for a major front page of the Sunday news kind of story. Any serious exposé would take a few days to assemble together.
BBC, NYT, and others like them (WaPo, etc.) prefer to vet their stories before they publish and do their own due diligence.
If NYT doesn't break the story, they will nearly always allow it to play out and get more solid info on it/check with their own sources.
BBC specifically is almost *never* the first to hit on breaking news, because they, too, vet information thoroughly and do their own investigating/corroboration.
There's a reason BBC doesn't end up posting "Breaking News" stuff that they later have to amend very often.
Of course, at this point, two days later, I'd expect the BBC to put something out by now. [NYT supposedly working hard on a story for their Sunday edition](https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/143chyi/big_nyt_article_coming_this_weekend/) however, does not surprise me.
yup it is a legit English Newspaper smiling. but it will be pushed down way down because of the Indictments coming ex- president twice impeached libel sexual rape now likely indicted for espionage and obstruction of justice.
Neat. The [Indian Express](https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/science/former-us-intelligence-officer-alien-craft-8650452/), another broadsheet newspaper, reported on it today too.
Can you imagine the political capital that could be gained by the party responsible for the full disclosure of all things ET???!!! This could sway elections for decades!
The BBC is currently super busy licking Tory's asses and gaslighting an entire nation. I don't think they'll switch gears, they are too subservient to their bosses.
The NYT has lost all credibility. They’re a DOD controlled rag, it doesn’t matter what they publish at this point, it’s all regarded as psyop by anyone paying attention
Hi there!
It looks as though the article you linked might be behind a paywall. Here's an [unlocked version](https://demo.thisischip.com/?q=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/06/07/ufos-made-with-non-human-materials-found-by-us/&o=reddit)

>But will the BBC, NYT et al follow?
Who gives a shit? It's about time they be left behind.
I think that looking to just 1 or 2 media companies as sources of valid information is potentially dangerous.
A couple of French-speaking outlets are talking about it
https://www.rtl.fr/actu/sciences-tech/les-etats-unis-travaillent-sur-des-engins-d-origine-non-humaine-selon-un-lanceur-d-alerte-7900272131

This isn't really verification of anything. News stations will run with anything that's popular, all the stories I've seen have been pretty much copy and paste. They aren't putting any effort into fact checking it. Partly because the whistleblower gave them nothing to investigate. It's entirely based on his reputation.

All of them will publish something, standard, once they have the good blesing of their national security liason. People think we have independent media, but we don't. Going rougue without green light can ostracized the whole paper on other topics that move more readers. Is the sad truth.
