Job Market

How has the job market here been in your experience?
I was just laid off from my job of 4 years and am finding it difficult to even land an interview at this point.

Try law enforcement. They’ll hire you if you have a good record

As a 26F I don’t think that would be a good option for me lol

My uncle was 26 when he joined and is now returning next year. Full pension

Ive been actively looking since April. Very small percentage of callbacks. I’m in the cybersecurity/IT field. Seems like the election has everyone spooked maybe?

I’m in the same field here in San Antonio and it’s quite difficult with no call backs. My resume is great. I want to eventually move to Dallas.

Definitely seems like the job market has cooled in a lot of industries. My executive chef friend with a great resume and experience recently got laid off and is having issues landing interviews in DFW. I know several IT networking people that are having issues landing interviews as well.
I wish you the best of luck.

I guess it depends on your field, but I can say for my girlfriend it's been a complete shit show all year. She's in Marketing, Social Media and Event Coordination.
Three months of hundreds of applications and no calls back or interviews, then a couple more months of abrupt phone screens and the usual mix of MLM-style direct sales jobs falsely advertised as something else.
After 7 months, she's just started getting legitimate offers through the door, as well as recruiters finally being willing to work with her. So we take that as a positive sign.
I'm wishing you luck, Internet stranger, it's rough out there.

I work in event management too🥲

This field has been hit hard, I have three friends with over 12 years global experience laid off and prospects are not good. Shift to online has dramatically shifted things, even for me. Have you retooled your resume to focus on the project management aspects of your experience? Those roles are hiring across industries, just throwing a suggestion out there.

I feel like a lot of jobs are posted but the companies aren’t actively hiring.

I 100% agree!!

Was laid off and then unemployed for 5 months. Interviews every week. Multiple rounds over and over. Finally got job through a family friend.
Wish I could say the job market is good, but it’s not. Seriously wishing the best for you.

Highly dependent on your field, unfortunately.

Depends entirely on your skillset and ego
