Even young adults just getting started, or who need to get away for safety reasons. 10 years ago I was able to find a hole in the wall apartment and pay for it on part-time wages and still have grocery money, not much else though.
Today though, that very same hole in the wall is going for triple the price and your entire paycheck is going towards it. That's if you'd even qualify for it today.
And a federal appeals court said no to student debt relief, I don't know how younger folks haven't fallen into complete despair yet because shit is not going to get better.
Absolutely what I came to say. We're aware, and majority of us know by now there's nothing we can do. I just do my best every day. It's not much, but it's better than nothing.
Shit, this month alone, I'll be picking rent instead of groceries, and trying to see how long I can string my groceries about until my job's union contract ends and we strike for better pay. That's all I can do. I already know my children, should I have any (and I won't), will suffer worse than I have and am,
I will say this I do think it will get better, yet I think it'll be a lot worse before that can happen. We are all just a match strike away from exploding, all we can do is our best. I am with you in the never having kids boat I didn't ask to be born into this and I won't subject them to that.
What is annoying is that older people think everything will be fine wile they are still alive. Not only do they not seem to care about their kids' future but they also refuse to accept that the climate is changing right now. They helped design a system that is bringing us close to extinction and then refuse to help prevent that.
I thought my FIL was finally turning a corner when he said "it got hot a lot earlier this year!" When I said, "I know, and it's only going to get worse," he said "no, it's just normal summer."
Our summers have never had weeks of excessive heat warnings like this summer has had. It's different, and he knows it, but just can't fully admit it for whatever reason.
To get to a 10 year average of 1.5, you need some whole years averaged at 2.0 in there.
So "a 1.5 C world" is actually a world that is sometimes 1.0C and sometimes 2.0C, and to get there, you will probably see individual days over 3.0C

Submission statement: it's casual Friday and we all need a little laugh!
This is related to collapse because most of us fear it's too late to fix what's broken, and once we accept that, we can let our truth be known. Whether that truth is about collapse, or about how much Mrs. Baker sucks.
Happy Friday, doomers!
