Dell s2725ds (2k 100hz) vs s2721qs (4k 60hz)

Choosing between these two options for use on a Windows PC: I don't play games seriously, I mainly watch videos, browse the web, do some CAD, 3D modeling, and casual video editing on it.

Will 1080p full-screen video/game look bad on a 2K screen since it will be scaled up by a non-integer?
-
On a 4K screen with 125% scaling, will the content appear the same as on a 2K screen?
-
Is 100Hz noticeably better than 60Hz for Windows/apps operations, not for gaming?
and the 2k is $50 cheaper...
Thank you!

Hey OP, which one did you go for eventually and how is it? Can you please tell me if you are happy with the choice you made? Thanks!

I didn't buy any of the two in the title. I bought a Redmi 27 4k 60hz, as external display for a Macbook. and a Dell 34 ultrawide 2k 60hz for my main windows pc. And I did switch them for testing. For Mac, it is definiatly better at 4k. For windows I prefer 2k, 4k at scaling isn't work very well for some applications. For 100Hz, I don't have the chance to test it, but I had a 144hz 1080p (which was replaced by the Redmi 4k 60hz) I can't notice any difference in daily use, as the UI are mostly stationary, I think it only make sense for gaming. So I can't comment on the two Dell models, but personally I would reommand 2k for windows, 60hz is perfectly fine if not gaming, and a highter quality panel, color, brightness, interface, is more important.

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply. Thats very helpful. I think I will also go for 2K monitor as I'm a windows user.

What is the price range? $200-250?
Get the MSI MAG 274QRFW instead, better brightness, much better panel, higher refresh rate (moving the camera around would look smooth AF). Or the GIGABYTE M27Q if it's cheaper.

Thank you. yes that is the range. Specs on MSI are better indeed, however I prefer a simple and clean design of Dell. Between these 2 Dell you will recommand the 2k 100hz, right?

Mate, the 100Hz Dell and the MSI look almost the same thing, i would not really recommend a monitor with a lower-end IPS panel, that costs $200, over something that has better color, higher refresh rate, better response time (granted the contrast on the Dell is better).
But yes... the 100Hz would be a lot better, it's a much newer display. The Dell S2721QS is 4-5 years old, and 60Hz is not really amazing
