Is there a quick way to switch input source on monitor?

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong sub.
But I have a PC plugged to my monitor through DVI.
Just bought an Xbox and it’s plugged into the HDMI of my monitor.
To change the input, I have to navigate the monitor settings which can be annoying sometimes especially because I’ve been spoiled with alt + tab switching on PC.
Just curious if there’s a quicker way? I have a HDMI slot on the back of my PC, if I plug it there, would it make anything different?

you can download a very old program ClickMonitorDDC_7_2. It has not been supported for a long time, but it works with Windows 10 and 11. You can switch the output in it. Hot keys are supported.

If you are on windows and you have a monitor that has DDC/CI capabilities you can download HP Display Center from the Windows store and you can change the input from there instead of using the buttons or menus for the monitor. One thing to keep in mind is that you will need to have two monitors in order to be able to switch back while still using your PC.

I bought DP -> HDMI cables, HDMI switches and returned many of them to only be able to get a working 4k 30hz. I was bummed out and did one last google search. I found this comment you made now 3 months ago AND IT FIXED MY ISSUE.
I DO NOT NEED TO GO THROUGH MY KOORUI MONITOR MENU'S AND PRESS LIKE 7 BUTTONS TO SWITCH INPUTS ANYMORE, YOU ARE THE BEST !!!!!!! (Somehow, button 1 opens the menu, that's fine. button 2 opens the scene type like cinema, gaming etc..., button 3 DOES THE EXACT SAME MENU of scene selection, AND TO TOP IT OFF button 4 raise or lower the volume ... LIKE WTH). This needs to be fixed for sure on KOORUI's monitors, mine is a 27N7U 4k 60hz if this helps anyone/for google search indexing)
MANY THANKS !
Edit : The only thing missing from this HP Display Center app is macro that can be triggered with keypresses but I do not mind going manually. Still better than pressing the stupid monitor buttons. Like this for example:
CTRL + SHIFT + 1 : Screen 2 switch to DisplayPort 1
CTRL + SHIFT + 2: Screen 2 switch to HDMI 1

When I switch the input it makes my screen glitch, go back to normal, and always defaults to the Display Port

Same issue with my monitor, LG 32gr93u-b

The first thing I would check is if your monitor has an auto-detect mode and if it does make sure that you turn it off to prevent it from switching inputs automatically, secondly make sure you are switching to an input that has something to display. 1 of my 3 monitors is cheap and only has VGA and a single HDMI yet in the app it shows multiple additional inputs. Clicking any of the false inputs glitches out the monitor and I have to use the physical buttons on the monitor to fix it. Hopefully, that helps you get Started!

how did you acces this HP thing? I can't open up the app. when I google it, it's giving me go to display settings. Nothing changed here? :> how do I interchange systems on the same monitor( I have M1, M2. I use M1 for work, off work I want to swap it on my PC. I've been changing the HDMI output from pc to work pc. always in the monitor) 2522hg

It's an app on the Windows Store that you can download. It does not come preinstalled onto your system, once installed assuming your monitor has multiple ports you connect your work PC to one port and your personal PC to a different input. Once both inputs are connected you can switch between the two inputs using the app.
You will need to have a monitor that is always connected to the PC that has the app installed so that you can switch the inputs back otherwise you'll have to use the menu buttons which was the original annoyance that started this thread.
This solution only works if you have multiple inputs on your monitor. Otherwise, your best bet is probably just using an hdmi switch.

THIS IS ACTUALLY SO FUCKING USEFUL????
I use the monitors XV272U V and XV271U M3 (basically the same thing) AND IT WORKS TO SWITCH INPUT MODES!! I DONT NEED TO PHYSICALLY PRESS ANY BUTTONS!!!
now i can use my switch whenever i want on my computer monitor, in only a few mouse clicks. i recommend pinning display center to your taskbar, ill be using it that much. Again, thank you.

5 years later and you solved my problem. I have two desktops sharing 1 monitor and poking buttons I couldn't see was becoming maddening. THANK YOU for this!

What was the solution you found?
