Is my CVT transmission worth replacing?

I bought a 2012 versa brand new in 2012 and after 70,000 miles CVT transmission started messing up. Now car is undriveable and Nissan dealership wants $4000 to replace transmission. I’d like to repair car and give it to my daughter for her first car. $4000 is more than car is probably worth. Does anyone know if I could save money taking it to a transmission repair shop like Mr. transmission? Is there a cheaper option instead of buying a brand new one? I’ve read cvt’s aren’t rebuildable. I really don’t know what to do. I really can’t afford a new car for her but I don’t want to put that much money in a piece of junk.

120k miles and my Sentra transmission blew forward gears

Do you happen to know if that is a common problem with nissan?

Yes, their CVT transmissions go out around 100, 000 miles. Give or take.

When I started having trouble with this versa I started reading up on the Nissan CVT transmission. And yes apparently Nissan CVT ‘s are total junk and Nissan knows it and keeps selling them.

CVT's in general are a terrible idea :( You cant rebuild them almost at all...

I believe CVTs can and are made reliably. Nissan just chooses to make trash

I am in the same boat. I have to replace my trans on a 2001 rouge. $4000 for sure. But a decent car costs $20,000 and I don't have that kind of money. Blue book value is not practical value. My car is in great shape otherwise.
