I made a totally free subtitle transcriber and renderer that works 100% in the browser. It runs whisper-ai to transcribe the audio and renders the video back using webcodecs.
Check it out https://subtitles.fframes.studio/

Hi , is there any way to make a model that does real time captioning totally locally on device ? Like no need to upload the video. Because I find a big use case for this in Video Players like VLC where sometimes when movies or large videos that don not have subtitles can get subtitles using this
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
There are a bunch of them: look for whisper ai, whisper cpp and so on
Rukelele_Dixit21@reddit
Ok will look them up, so with them there is no need to upload the video right ? The video plays and in real time the subtitle is overlayed ?
Fancy-Earth@reddit
Hi, the application works well, but I miss the fact that you can't export to SRT or translate the subtitles.
Silent_Dependent4711@reddit
IT DOESN'T SUPPORT AUDIO MAN
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
IT IS A TOOL TO RENDER SUBTITLES ON VIDEO HELLO “MAN”

Is it possible for me to run this website localy on my personal server?
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
Yes it’s totally open source you can see GitHub link
PrayerWarrior91@reddit
Great idea! It works, but only partly. It missed quite a few random parts in the video. Just wanted to provide my feedback for you in case you're still working on it. Thank you so much for sharing this! It certainly has great potential, as I recognize it is better than a lot of other paid SaaS businesses.
shyamntk@reddit
Hey, thanks a ton for this tool. Can you please add the 'Export as SRT' option as well? Thanks again.
shyamntk@reddit
Hi, can you please help? I'm getting the following error:
'We couldn't find decodable audio stream in your video The buffer passed to decodeAudioData contains an unknown content type.'
Gameruler1@reddit
Just found this and its awesome! Thank you.
If you don't mind me recommending it, a way to tell the AI how many words I want on the screen at a time. Right now it seems its based on the gap between words? So it if reads "Stronger. Faster." It will only pop up that word at a time. I know I can just manually fix it but I just wanted to mention it. Again, it's an awesome tool so thank you!

Is there a way to handle multilingual video? (i.e. a video that has a conversation in multiple languages?)
Little_Ladder_2319@reddit
He has some issues with Slovak, but it can be adjusted. However, I can't find an option to add another subtitle window anywhere. :( A few sentences were completely skipped, and I don't know how to add them. Is there any way to fix this?
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
I am sorry! Will fix it asap :)
Ok_Advisor_7246@reddit
It works with Mp4, but doesn't accept Mkv files, could you add .mkv support?
After_Address1185@reddit

In your browser cache storage. Open dev tools and navigate to app state

"Your browser is not supported"
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
This is a cost of running really fancy browser apis
Evening_Ad6637@reddit
But wait, shouldn’t it work anyway in brave if it works for chrome? And the same for chromium and all the other chromium based browsers?
Qunit-Essential@reddit (OP)
A little update on brace: they specifically not allow file system api which I need to render files directly to the file system and to not run out of memory.
Ok-Excuse-4371@reddit
Cutting edge coolness !
