I was in bed with my girlfriend who was sleeping when I heard a noise from the closet and for roughly 10 secs I watched a spring loaded closet door handle violently move like an invisible person was frantically trying to open it. I questioned what I saw and was about to go back to sleep but my gf saw it too so we ran out of the room..all these years I can't explain it

My wife wrote a former high school teacher (let’s call him Mr. Smith) who was a mentor and somewhat of a father-figure to her. Both of her parents were neglectful and abusive addicts, and she lived in dire poverty in a rural area to the point of being underfed and anemic.
Her schooling suffered because of her chaotic home life and Mr. Smith encouraged her to take courses by mail to make up for the school classes she had failed (she paid for these courses with her own money earned from her job as a Walmart cashier. Even the school counselor told her that there’s a 0% chance she will graduate high school that year and she should just plan on staying behind to repeat her senior year.
She hustled like crazy despite zero support or help from her parents, just the encouragement of Mr. Smith. She miraculously graduated on time. She moved out of the area, lost contact with Mr. Smith, and went on to get her undergrad degree from UC Berkeley and later received her graduate degree from an Ivy league school.
After 20 years my wife was inspired to write Mr. Smith to thank him for the positive impact he had on her life and to let him know that, thanks to him, she had escaped poverty and an abusive family (who she went No Contact with). She hesitated to write, what if he didn’t even remember her? But she decided to send the letter. She was sad to not hear back after several months. Until suddenly, one day, she received a letter from…Mr. Smith’s wife.
She read the letter aloud to me, soon in tears. It turns out that Mr. Smith had indeed received her letter, it moved him to tears and he was so happy after reading it. He was eager to reply, but after a few days he passed away suddenly (was 81 years old) before doing so. Mrs. Smith felt that the letter of gratitude may have been just the right amount of self actualization to send him on his way, feeling good about his life. To this day we still can’t believe the timing of that and she is so grateful to have sent that letter instead of hesitating further.
I wish I had met Mr. Smith, I don’t think words could have described the impact he had on her life. Ever since I met her in 2005, she could hardly speak about him without being choked up. He gave her the only support she had known as a child, and she will always remember him.

Very touching story. The world needs more Mr. Smiths.
Also, congratulations to your wife for her perseverance. Success must taste so sweet!
Practical-Witness796@reddit
Thank you so much. Yes I wish I had met a Mr. Smith, but I certainly don’t need that in quite the same way.
I’m so proud of her, and although she’s happy with what she’s accomplished, the hard part is stopping to smell the roses. When you’re in survival mode for so long and raised yourself, it seems difficult to turn off that mode and enjoy where you are at. But lots of therapy has helped immensely in that regard. A few years ago she decided to not go for a PHD and I was proud of that, because she had previously felt she “needed” to accomplish that. And the question is, when have you accomplished enough ?
She’s said she’s learning the difference between being driven vs dragged. I think she was subconsciously trying to prove something to her parents, even though she wasn’t even in contact with them. Now realizing that none of us have anything to prove. Thanks for your kind words.

About 10 years ago I was house sitting at my dad’s house when this happened. My dog was always spooked of the kitchen there and would often growl at it for no reason. Anyway, I’m staying the weekend there while my dad is away. I’m watching TV and my dog is sleeping next to my feet when he suddenly wakes up and starts creeping toward the kitchen with his back hair standing up. I don’t think much of it since he’s always been freaked out by my dad’s kitchen. Nonetheless, I continue watching him when he starts growling and barking and then whimpers and runs to my dad’s bedroom. I should also point out I’d never heard this dog whimper or show the slightest bit of fear of anything. So I stand up. Just then the two cabinet doors below the sink slowly open up. I legit froze. No earthly idea how or why but something will never forget.

Yeah, that would be an explanation if he hadn’t already shown me he didn’t give a flying fuck about mice. Had one in my apartment around the same time and once watched it run circles around him and he never even bothered to raise his head. Legit acted like they were buddies.

Animals always know! My cat isn’t a hisser. Years of going to the groomer, to the vet, getting shots, etc. and never a hiss.
One day I’m in bed and she’s hanging out with me. Suddenly she popped up and started hissing and batting at the air. About a month later it happened again. Then she started getting weird about some spots in my home office.
Went to a charity event that had a pet psychic. Figured why not get a reading, it’ll be entertaining. To be clear, I believe in psychics but I had a hard time believing she could read my cat without being in the same room.
She tells me some general stuff and then says “she’s a little dehydrated, and would like more water sources” and “oh and she says the ghosts are a nuisance and can you please get rid of them”. I hadn’t mentioned the hissing behavior at all.
A few months go by and I forgot all about it. She started having a small health problem so we went to the vet and…..she was dehydrated and I needed to get her more water options.
Weird behavior in my office kept happening so I brought in a medium who confirmed there were ghosts and did a clearing. And when she got to my place she asked my cat where they were and my cat trotted into the office.
Weird behavior stopped immediately after the clearing.
Bandando@reddit
Question: why does it take a medium to get rid of ghosts? Like, seriously, what do they do that we can’t?
szechuan_steve@reddit
I'm not a medium, but I listen to more "true ghost experience" podcasts than God intended.
Many of them claim the spirits didn't know they're dead. Or the spirits don't know how / are afraid to move on. So the medium helps them move on.
Often the medium claims to have a guardian angel or spirit buddy who helps from the "other side".
Some of them also seem to use a vague form of traditional Native American or spiritualist (crystals) rituals. I've heard some use holy water or blessed oil. Though, it seems to be few.
For the record, I'm personally very skeptical of mediums. I think if it's real, you don't know how careful, talented, or experienced the medium may be. It's a gamble. I've heard people's experiences include a medium that was like "I can't help you", or just screamed and ran out.
It seems to attract a large amount of fraud and / or amateurs.
Still, if someone started telling me everything spot on, they'd have my consideration.

General-Carob-6087@reddit
Haha I checked to be sure nothing was in there before shutting the doors back.
JoyKil01@reddit
Scary! Any chance it was a rat? I had a brown rat coming into the cabinets from an oak tree. Thought it might just be a mouse but it freaking leapt out at me. They can get huge!
General-Carob-6087@reddit
I guess it’s possible but my dad kept a pretty tidy ship and I never saw evidence of rats or mice when I stayed there.
Also, I had a mouse in my apartment around that same time and the dog thought it was the coolest thing ever.

You don't have to have a dirty house to have critters want to come in from the cold and find neat stuff to eat.

I had a very similar experience except the door was open and suddenly it swung closed. The room was still and air wasn’t on. There was no reason for it to swing much less have enough momentum to close. My wife and I both sat in silence. My heart was in my throat and I didn’t dare move. Finally got up to check it out. I saw our cat and to this day I just claim it was the cats fault.
PurpleVein99@reddit
Door thing happened to us a few times, inexplicably, but the one that always comes to mind first was at least ten years ago, if not more.
We were in bed about to watch a movie. This was when we were still primarily using DVDs, so really long ago. Anyway, there was a preview of the movie The Descent, and we sat through it and then afterwards my husband said, "If I never watch another horror movie again it will be too soon."
Cue our bedroom door creaking open in THE most unsettling way possible. And there was no one there.
My husband jumped out of bed and flipped the lights on, then flipped the lights on in the hallway. Nothing.
Checked on the kids. Made sure they were okay. Watched some Friends episodes to "cleanse" the creepy vibe we were both under.
So weird.
Natprk@reddit
That would have done me in. I honestly don’t believe in that stuff but it would only take one experience to creep me out!
FriendlyPea805@reddit
Friends bought a house with an entity that was friendly. We were there late after having dinner with them. I asked about the entity and as soon as I did a framed picture went flying off the wall hitting the floor with glass all over the place. We left immediately lol.
PurpleVein99@reddit
A couple of years ago, a co-worker and I were chatting companionably when she asked how my son was doing. A couple of weeks before, I had mentioned that he had been sleeping in the living room rather than his bedroom because he felt a presence in his bedroom. Once he thought it was me and that I had come in to cuddle with him and hugged him from behind, only it wasn't me. This freaked him out, and he'd been sleeping in the living room since.
Anyway, she asked how things were going, and I was telling her the latest when an abstract painting made of wood "jumped" off the wall and onto the carpeted floor.
We both stared at each other in disbelief and cautiously approached it. The hooks on the wall were intact. The slender cable along the back used to hang it was still in place.
We squealed like a couple of grade schoolers and laughed, but it was really startling.

Damn that is crazy. My first thought would be someone broke in or perhaps an earthquake happened?
i_dream_of_zelda@reddit
It was my first time spending the night at my boyfriend's condo in college. We'd had a normal night, and he had another friend staying over in the guest room.
After we went to bed, I was suddenly awoken in the night by bed shaking and the covers moving like waves of an ocean. Then it sounded like someone was thumping on our door. I immediately started screaming and ran over to the closed door and pounded on it, screaming "Help me! Help me!"
My boyfriend woke up at roughly the same time and he said he ALSO felt the bed shaking and the covers moving. He went over to get me and we were freaked the fuck out for the longest time. We lived in the midwest near no fault lines, there was no earthquake, it was a newer condo and only had one owner previously. Very quiet neighborhood with mostly elderly or retired people.
The next day his friend said he had heard some kind of commotion but thought we were arguing and went back to sleep lol. He was a quiet, reserved guy and not the type to play pranks or anything either.
It was one of the scariest things ever and I still can't explain it.
PurpleVein99@reddit
I grew up in a house where occasionally strange things happened.
One of these things was the shaking of my bed. It was a double bed. Nothing special. Just a frame and mattress. I'd wake sometimes to it shaking violently and would lie there, clutching the covers, saying the Lord's prayer over and over until it stopped.
My parents never believed me until my grandparents came for a visit and, as we didn't have a guest room, they stayed in mine. Second night there it happened to them and my grandma scolded my mom for it, saying she'd never had the house blessed properly.
Bandando@reddit
We do get earthquakes in the Midwest, though. But I’ve never felt them when other people have said they’ve felt their beds shaking, etc.

I never said there wasn’t earthquakes in the Midwest but we lived in an area where they were exceedingly rare and we checked to make sure it wasn’t one

I am about as skeptical as one can be when it comes to ghosts, but I swear I’ve had a few encounters. Always when I’m in bed.
Once, I saw what looked to be the silhouette of a small child by my bedside. Thinking it was my niece (who was maybe 3 or 4 at the time and would often come into my room to ask to play my Nintendo Switch) I asked, “What do you want?” And this figure LUNGED at me. Freaked me the hell out. Another time, I swear I felt…something wrap an arm around me. Not in a threatening way, but like in a big spoon way. Very uncomfortable feeling.

Maybe the kiddos was just playing, you asked what they wanted and maybe they wanted to play wrestle.

sweetestfetus@reddit
I’ve been reading “Journeys Out of the Body” by Robert Monroe. He describes beings he encountered in the astral plane who would often cling to his back in this way.
PurpleVein99@reddit
This gave me chills.
I've had dreams where I notice an otherworldly being in a room I enter and feel an overwhelming instinct to pretend not to see it or acknowledge its presence. In the dream, I know I shouldn't turn my back on it, but I have to cross the room to leave it, or turn around and go. As soon as I do either, the thing jumps on my back and tries to take me over.
Sometimes I'll wake and be in a state of sleep paralysis. Other times I'll wake and feel and hear something else in the room. An energy of some sort that will crackle and make popping sounds as it moves around our room. Occasionally, our dogs will sense it, and whine or bark at it. Very unsettling.
_Lil_Piggy_@reddit
Something like this happened to me once when I was 6-8. I remember I was in bed at night with my back to the door. All of a sudden I was awoken to someone running a finger up my neck, and sent a chill. I assumed it was my mother…because, what else could it have been. When I rolled over to see her, I had what I could only describe as “a witch” directly face to face to face with the me staring into my eyes…inches from my face. I thought it was a witch because there was a greenish color to her and her hair was a bit mangy. I freaked the fuck the out and pulled the covers over my head too terrified to come back out. It felt so real. Next morning I asked both my sister and my mother if they had come into my room. Both said no.
I’ve heard that, that’s the age that one could have a spiritual encounter….and if one’s unafraid, the “skill” can be developed. And if one is petrified, that part of the brain can shut that shit right down. I have no idea if any of that is true ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
WanderingNNT@reddit
As someone that's had encounters and is terrified, I believe my brain has shut that shit right down. Thankfully.

I've had a similar experience. Woke up to a ghost at the end of my bed. My dog, who was sleeping at the end of my bed, woke up and saw it too. He looked directly at it and barked at it. Once my dog barked, it went away. She actually was very beautiful and peaceful looking

When I was 5 or so, I had one of those big mickey mouse clocks that looked like a wristwatch. It started ticking louder and louder in the middle of the night, and I pulled the covers over my head. Then there was a croaky kind of scream when I didn't think it could get any louder and something grabbed me, like a big hand across my torso that shook me. I sat up with my heart racing and clock ticking quietly. It was very unlike any other sleep paralysis episode I've had since; I swear I was awake for the whole thing.

Age 13, me and my still-to -this day bestie were walking our bikes though the busiest intersection of our then small city
I looked up, and there, hovering above the movie theater listing sign, was a fucking UFO. I point and my BFF sees it too.
What's crazy...is No one else seems to notice! None of the adults driving seemed to notice at all. It suddenly shot right up into the air, and took off. We tried to chase it. We even looked up the FBI in the damn yellow pages when we got home.

I’m pretty damn skeptical, but I had one particular prophetic dream that freaked me out so much that I don’t really like to talk about it to this day. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever told the whole story. I guess since this is the chillest place on Reddit, I’ll try to do it here.
*Tl, dr I had a crazy realistic, but in the end kind of sweet, dream that came true and my head is still fucked up from it some 15 years later.
This happened back when I was in college. I was sleeping at the apartment of my new girlfriend, but I couldn’t really sleep. I had been sick and was uncomfortable and kind of restless, so I got up and sat in the window and just stared out at the buildings. It was probably 1:30 am. All of a sudden I noticed myself really focusing in on this one particular building. It was pretty nondescript and I assumed it had been owned by the university and was now an admin building or something … but it felt like there was something special about it. Something important. I found myself wondering about the people inside, and their well-being. I laughed it off as me being delirious (I was) and went back to bed and eventually went to sleep.
A couple nights later, I had the weirdest fucking dream. Usually I don’t remember my dreams, or if I do they don’t make any sense. People are switched, places are strange combinations of other places, etc. But this one was different. It was so clear. I was riding my bike home — a new (to me) bike I had just gotten, and I was taking one of the exact routes I normally take. I remember it was a beautiful sunny day, and as I rounded the corner onto my street I saw my friend Paul sitting on my doorstep.
Sidebar: I had known Paul for a few years at that point. We met in community college, when a TA who hated both of us decided to put us together on a project so we’d drive each other crazy — me being a scrawny punk rock hipster, and him being a gangster guy with a solid foot of height and a hundred lbs of weight on me. Unfortunately for the TA, he didn’t realize that punk and rap are basically cousins, so we got along like gangbusters. He had had a rough life and was in and out of gangs, and we bonded over being angry, young and poor and stayed in contact even after I moved 150 miles away to go to a university.
Anyway, in this dream he told me that he needed to stay with me for a few days, and then I woke up. He had always had this uncanny ability to call out of the blue a few days after my room mate and I said “Hey, I wonder what Paul’s up to,” so I texted said roommate And told him about the dream and joked with him that Paul would be calling soon. He agreed it was a weird dream and we left it at that, half expecting to hear from him … but we never did.
A few weeks later, it was a beautiful day in the freakishly early false spring we were having. I was riding my bike home — the same way I did in my dream — and when I hopped off I saw that I had missed a call … from Paul. His voicemail said he was in town and to call him back. I had forgotten about the dream, but I went to pick him up and brought him back to my place and we spent the afternoon shooting the shit.
My roommate got home after an hour or two, and he mentions my dream. All of a sudden Paul turns white as a sheet, takes off his shoe and pulls out a piece of paper with my phone number and address on it. He gets serious and says “I have a confession to make … I’ve actually been in town for the last 30 days … at [Redacted] in-patient rehab program.”
Turns out, he had fallen back in with his old crowd and got into pills, which culminated with an incident with the police and his family giving him and ultimatum: Rehab or you’re out of the family. They offered to pay for him to go anywhere in the state for the program he wanted, and well … this is the part where I saw him start to tear up.
“I knew I could get sober, but I didn’t know if I could handle all the bullshit where we talk about our feelings. I picked this one specifically because, out of all my buddies, I knew that if shit got real and I had to bug out I could just show up on your door and I know I’d have a couch to crash on while I got my life together, no questions asked.”
So, here I am. I have a passing interest in the unexplained, but I don’t really believe in it. I’m a pretty diehard skeptic, insofar as I only really believe what I can see myself. I don’t believe In precognitive dreams. But the night I had this dream about him showing up on my door, he was packing up to go to rehab and memorizing my phone number and address in case he needed to just show up on my doorstep. I hadn’t talked to him in months, and I didn’t even know he had gotten into drugs.
What am I supposed to do with that?
I can tell myself it’s a coincidence … but that’s a fucking lot of coincidences to all lead up to me having this unusually vivid and realistic dream in which he was even wearing similar clothes to the ones he wore when I saw him.
I wouldn’t believe it if anyone else said it. But it happened. I was there. My roommate and his text messages confirm it.
Fuck me, this turned out embarrassingly long. I’m just going to cut the ramblings here and end with this. Remember that building in the beginning of my wall of text that I was inexplicably focused on and concerned about the inhabitants of? Turns out, that was the rehab facility.
WanderingNNT@reddit
That's fucking crazy. Gave me major chills. Hope Paul is doing okay!!
flamingknifepenis@reddit
He is. He had one kid of his own from his ex-wife who he met in that same rehab facility and turned out to be a little crazy, but he’s settled down with a nice girl who has two kids of her own. He’s living the lame suburban dad life and loving every second of it. Most importantly, the rehab stuck for him. He told his family when we went in that he was doing it on his own terms, so he’s “Oregon sober” these days (beer and weed only) and hasn’t touched any hard drugs since.

Omg. I just remembered an incident from my childhood.
I lied and told mom I was sick (i was maybe 11) so i could stay home and watch tv. I made good grades so I was often allowed to stay home by myself when sick.
I settled in watching the parents TV, a HUGE 19" color TV! Price is Right is in and...Booom...went something in the attic. I looked all over the house, no damage. A little while later a louder BOOOM. RIGHT ABOVE ME! there was someone in the attic. I hid in my room. BOOM! They were following me room to room, trying to drop something through the ceiling on me about every 20 -30 minutes. Eventually I went outside on the porch, my scammed day of tv and snacks was ruined. I waited for mom to come home from work on the porch.
She was soon home. I ran up and warned her of the maniac in our attic. We walked to the porch. Suddenly there was another boom. "SEE!" I exclaimed. "It's something huge!"
Mom looked shocked, but said "that felt like it came from underground!" She went inside and dialed a neighbor. Talked for a minute. Hung up. "They're doing blasting for oil exploration down the road. "
Then mom got to tell all her friends about the 600 lb monster I thought was hiding in our attic.

I saw a black triangle UFO in the mid-90s, with my friend on a boat as we were crossing the canal behind his house. It was during the day, bright blue sky, and this silent shape just glided over the treeline coming directly toward us. It moved slowly, still silent, and passed directly over us. We both estimated its altitude at about 200 feet, and its width about 100 feet, though the craft itself seemed flat. It disappeared over the opposite horizon over the houses on the far side of the canal.
Here's the thing... last year I discovered that in the mid-90s, there had been an airstrip in the direction this craft was headed, which had been purchased by an unnamed aeronautics firm. There's a public record database that archives these sales, but when I investigated this particular sale, I got a 404 error. Hmm, interesting. Every other link works. What I realized after discovering this airstrip was that this craft must have been on a landing approach, which would explain why it was flying so low. I never claimed it was aliens, I'm sure it was simply some experimental craft.
nanneryeeter@reddit
How large was it?
Did it have a bright light or reflection from the center?
TheLakeWitch@reddit
The one I saw did, but it was silent.
elkniodaphs@reddit
It seemed very large. It was quite imposing, flying as low as it was. It had one white light on the front corner, and one red light on each rear corner. There was nothing in the center, though I have seen mock-ups of crafts that do have holes, lights, or concave domes in the center. Ours was just flat and black.
TheLakeWitch@reddit
I saw the black triangle in the mid-80s. I was about 8 or 9 and did an early morning paper route in Pittsburgh with my mom. Since it was still dark outside, she would leave me at a well-lit corner near a park while she delivered to the couple of houses down a dark side street. One occasion I was sitting there and happened to look up and see the black triangle flying over, kind of low. Another occasion, I saw a triangle of lights that seemed high up in the atmosphere that would occasionally switch places like geese flying in formation. I didn’t really understand UFOs at the time and thought nothing of it until I started hearing of other people seeing the same things as I got older.
HamsterMachete@reddit
I saw one of these, too. I was alone. Nobody had ever believed me. I stopped talking about it because I thought my family was going to think I was crazy. I did see it on the 90s. I am glad someone else has seen them too.

I saw a stealth bomber one day back in 2002, flying over Fairbanks, AK. It's surreal. I remember hearing it for sometime before seeing it, and once I saw it, I thought "seriously, that's not very stealth." But, it looks so alien, compared to a "regular" airplane.
AL_12345@reddit
See, the silence associated with these sightings tells me that it’s not the stealth bomber. They aren’t quiet. What makes them “stealthy” is their ability to avoid detection with radar.
elkniodaphs@reddit
Thank you, that's the only thing keeping me from going all-in on the stealth bomber. I can even forgive the bomber having a jagged rear edge when the craft I saw was a perfect triangle. But as you say, it was completely silent. And also, it wasn't moving fast enough to maintain altitude, unless they had B-2 VTOLs in the mid-90s.
dezeus88@reddit
Sometime late 80s my Dad came home from a business trip and was insistent that he saw the same thing floating 100 feet over his car on the QEW. He was really freaked out by it. A year or so later they were reported on Unsolved Mysteries.
hacksawomission@reddit
It was probably a B2 bomber at idle descent (granted, 172 foot wingspan so bigger than what you surmised if so). They are still a sight.
elkniodaphs@reddit
Southwest Florida. Interestingly, I had discovered a patent for a triangular spacecraft filed in Puerto Rico in 2004 (discontinued in 2006) which doesn't solve for my sighting in the mid-90s, but this application has citations dating back to the 1960s. The citation that directly preceeds my sighting was filed in 1991 and details a magnetic propulsion device, the type one might use at each point on a hovering triangular craft. I consider it noteworthy that the Puerto Rico patent was filed relatively shortly after my sighting and it's not too far away from where the sighting occured. I understand this is all rather conspiratorial, but I'm just trying to do the legwork.
hacksawomission@reddit
I promise you the fact that there's a patent means less than nothing. Our patent process is extremely, extremely broken.
elkniodaphs@reddit
I'm 100% with you, of course, but the least I can do is poke around to see what I can find. I always liked the B-2 Bomber explanation, but the craft I saw didn't have the jagged rear edge so... I'm sure it's all very mundane, but 15-year-old me was quite impressed.

An absolutely perfect triangle.

It moved impossibly slow, and its back edge was straight. But I'm pretty sure you're right, I've always assumed it was something that was similar to one of these crafts.

I also saw a black triangle with my mom in the late 80s. It was flying just like you described, treetop level and completely silent. Just seemingly drifting. It was massive and blocked out a fair amount of the sky — it was nighttime, but not pitch black.

My mother died as a result of bad divorce. In the whirlwind of everything going on, I hadn’t been able to stop down at her grave more than 1 time in the year after everything.
My (future) wife and I finally got a chance to get away and as a date, I took her on hot air balloon ride.
We took off, flew for about 1 hour by the pilot in a group with another balloon, then landed across the street from her grave. This was the picture I took as we were landing.

Okay I’ve got one it’s going to be long and weird ride that is absolutely 100% true, so here we go….
My wife and I were out walking one night. it was sometime between late spring and early fall. I remember looking out into this park we walk by and there was this strange green oval light hovering out in the middle of one of the soccer fields. I should add that we take these walks late enough at night that there’s usually very few people around. We stop and look at it for a while and comment that it’s strange and keep walking towards the corner up ahead.
At about halfway to the corner I look back to see if the light is still there and catch movement on the ground. I think that leaf is moving really strangely behind her, I wonder if it’s somehow stuck to her. I look down (we are still walking) and I realize it’s a squirrel following her. Very calmly I said something along the lines of, that’s weird, that squirrel is following you. - the what? - there’s a squirrel following you. She turns around and understandably freaks out a bit. We are basically at this corner we were walking towards next to a dentist office with some really great landscaping. Anyway, the squirrel has somehow gotten in front of us and is kind of, for lack of a better word, dancing around in front of us. It was at this point I tried to put myself between her and the squirrel and began trying to kick it away. She of course is scared and kind of screaming. Somehow we end up on the ground (both of my knees hit the cement sidewalk, which was as pleasant as it sounds). The squirrel is still dancing around and my wife is still screaming. At that moment, a police officer drove by and didn’t stop. Which we later acknowledged was a bit weird. The way police present themselves they would notice if two people are struggling on the ground making all kinds of noise, but I digress…
We both get back on our feet and my wife halls ass around the corner and the squirrel disappeared. I make it around the corner in time to see it tearing through the landscaping like a chupacabra. When it gets to the sidewalk it begins hopping behind her like Pepè La Pew. She’s still running and occasionally looking back with this look of sheer terror on her face.
At the next corner there is a 24 hour gas station that’s pretty active most nights and I guess the squirrel gave up because by the time we got there it was MIA. We don’t use, she doesn’t drink and I barely drink (and wasn’t that night). I would have checked myself into a mental ward if I had been alone when it happened because I still don’t know why the squirrel behaved that way.
This is exponentially longer than I anticipated and not a story about a supernatural occurrence.

I was recently in my kitchen, and directly behind my head, I heard a very loud clap. My wife was in the next room and she swears I clapped. But I had my hands in the sink.
Now, what I was doing was harvesting and examining mushrooms I grew. The trippy ones. I could NEVER handle tripping again, but I considered micro dosing for depression. It's as if a ghost wanted to warn me not to. So I threw them all in the garbage. All it could possibly be, is a sign.
And what's really fucked up, is a couple days before this, I read a story on reddit about a clapping noise someone else had wrote about. It's as if I have a spirit guide, and it knew that a clapping sound would resonate with me, since I just read about such a thing.
It's probably not spooky to hear me explain this. But picture being in a room alone, and somebody claps their hands a foot or 2 behind your head loudly. It's a bit shocking.

In 2000, I was walking down a dark country road between town and my family's property. Suddenly, without warning and completely silently, it became as bright as day. Like, the sun was out. It faded quickly and when I looked up, you could still see like a light streak in the night sky.

I have one that is not ghost related.
It was 1998 and I was about two weeks away from leaving home for college. I borrowed my mom's car to go to the mall, and was shopping for stuff for my dorm. About a month prior to this, a family friend had been in an accident and was paralyzed from the neck down. We visited him in the hospital and it was sad, but I wasn't really emotional about it. Anyway, I was driving around the mall area, and I just started thinking about him, and how it was so unfair that he would have to live the rest of his life as a quadriplegic, and how it would have been better if he had just died. The thoughts were really intrusive which is out of character for me as I'm definitely a laid-back person. I started to get freaked out, so I pulled over into a strip mall to calm myself down. I had this intense urge to call my mom, and there was a payphone in front of the grocery store where I was parked, so I grabbed some quarters and quickly walked over. Just as I grabbed the receiver, this older man grabbed my wrist and in a panicky voice said, "can I use this phone, please? PLEASE". I was fully panicked at this point and backed up a few feet to let the guy use the phone. He called someone, and was asking about his mom, that someone told him his mom was there and he wanted to speak to her. There was a pause, and he yells, "SHE'S DEAD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD...". At that moment time froze, and I saw this middle-aged man curled over the phone with a look of pure grief on his face. I heard a booming voice that seemed to come from inside my head, it was a male voice and it said "Death is still death", and at that point time restarted and I ran back to my mom's minivan, got in and drove home. I never told anyone about it until years later I told my husband who wondered how the man would have known to call the hospital, as this was before cellphones. I've had a few weird experiences over the years but nothing like that.
butterflypuncher@reddit
This is really bizarre. What was your take away from that? Why do you think you heard that phrase?
WillBsGirl@reddit

Death is final. They’re gone. At least he’s still here to experience life, even if as a quadriplegic.

Yeah, but I could also interpret it as being a quadriplegic is its own death, even if the person is still alive. Like, there are many ways to be dead in the world, or even alive.

My daughter, who was almost two, woke up at 6:12 am and clearly said "Bye Papa." Before falling back asleep.
I got a call about an hour later dad had died overnight. We set the estimated time of death as 6:11 am.
I also have no idea how I was up at that time either, as I usually slept later than that on a weekend and hadn't been woken by an alarm clock.
My beat guess is I woke up as he said goodbye to me, and then said goodbye to his granddaughter.

TheLakeWitch@reddit
I’m a hospice nurse as well. It’s just part of our training now to educate family members on the fact that their loved one will likely see and/or hear their deceased loved ones as they’re actively dying. It’s incredibly common, whether you believe in an afterlife/spiritual world (which I do), or just believe that it is our brains releasing hormones and chemicals like DMT to ease the process of dying (which is also true).

This is my wife’s story but she was spending the last moments with her father who had fought cancer for years but was on hospice and she determined this was his last weekend so she spent the weekend with him and her stepmom. She was in the bedroom with him when he seemed to take his last breath and their dog ran to the back door and started barking. My wife and stepmom were both crying and unsure what to make of the dog. Then the dog ran back into the bedroom and her dad gave a sudden gasp, jolted his eyes open and kind of shouted(for a weak dying person) “do over!” while my wife and her stepmom were in awe. He still passed away within an hour or so.
EndlessSummer00@reddit
My Grandmother did the same. Something along the lines of “not quite ready” with a laugh. About an hour later, as we were all sitting around her she passed. In the moments before, she was staring into the corner and saying let’s go. I know that my Papa was there with her to bring her home.
Casti_io@reddit
Really similar thing happened to my wife with my grandfather.
When he died, she was pregnant with our daughter, and I was at a work event while she was at home, taking a nap.
I got the call from my mom that he had passed and headed home immediately. When I arrived, and my wife saw me walk through the doo, she asked me “where did you go?” Because she was absolutely convinced that I had come in, given her a kiss on the forehead, and let her sleep.
She described it as “someone tall like you, giving off a very kind and good energy.” My grandfather and I were roughly the same height.
Putting two and two together, it really feels like gramps came by to say goodbye to his unborn great granddaughter.

I can’t believe I’m putting this out here but, here goes.
My mother-in-law is a cabbage loving, good food making Eastern European who has a particular smell related to her cooking that can’t be concealed with even a potent fragrance. It’s a smell that is unique to her.
One day, as my husband was working and she was at her home 1.5 hours away, I could smell her. It was bizarre. I was with my son who was a tiny guy and we were just hanging out at home. We were a decent distance from neighbors and I mean, it was her smell. It was so intense, I almost called my husband to see what the hell?
Anyway, her father passed away that day in Serbia. Just a huge heart attack and a sign out. It was very strange.
My second story is from around the same time and kinda similar?
I had a friend I worked with for a while in the 90s and we’d hang out outside of work and go to clubs. He was an awesome guy and a ton of fun to be with - he was an all around good person. Years pass and life creates change and we lost touch.
There was a morning where I was simply existing and he entered my mind with a brief yet intense presence. I hadn’t thought of the guys in years and he wasn’t in my circle of friends on social media. For the life of me, I could NOT remember his last name to look him up and came so close to texting someone who might have remembered just to scratch the itch. I didn’t text, though I wish I had, because he had ended his life that day. I had only found out a few days after the fact when friends of friends began the chatter on Facebook.
For what it’s worth, I’m a fairly rational person and I don’t really buy much into anything woo. These 2 experiences, though, were too weird.

When I was a teenager I had two instances of intense fear where I felt a presence next to me. I was too scared to look or say anything. Both times my friend who was next to me said she saw something—without me even asking. The first time I was in a Baltimore motel and she said it was a “person but I can see through him.” Interesting it was right after the police checked every room as part of a manhunt (like, did they shoot the dude and that’s who was there?). The second time was a a beach rental in southern NJ. Fast forward to a house I was renting in Southern California. Our son who was around 7 yo at the time always came out because he felt the bed shaking. The keyboard in his room would turn on by itself in the early morning hours, play one of the preset tunes, and stop on his own. Both my spouse and I woke up after a nightmare and saw an elderly Asian dude standing next to our bed. Interestingly my spouse has Tourette’s and only when we lived in that house were his tics in what sounded like mandarin (we don’t speak mandarin). I also have a long history of electronics malfunctioning around me. It’s so common everyone I work with says I have an “electronic ghost.” When I worked in the ICU there was a tv that would turn on and off by itself. The monitor alarm values would also change by themselves. I had a tv with a video cassette player in college—it would turn on and off by itself, spit the cassettes out mid film. I work outpatient now and the automatic paper towel dispenser is constantly spitting out paper, even when I’m across the room.

My wife and I had to put our 15 year old yellow lab to sleep a few years ago because of a large mass in her stomach.
We had two dachshunds at the time also. The youngest wiener dog was the labs best friend. Shortly after, she would randomly just stair at the top of the stairwell near the ceiling with her head tilted slightly like she could see something we couldn't. It happened for a couple months then nothing.
So weird, but I like to think it was our lab looking over us.

I remember having this bunk bed when i was like 7-13 with a desk underneath. I slept on the top with my cat. I woke at 3am one night to this terrifying growl that went on for what seemed like minutes under me. i started screaming and my parents came to me and did not believe me at all. But, hey I was a kid. My cat reacted too; he was not cool with it.
When I was about 16, this otherworldly thing appeared in my full length mirror, all hooded and surrounded by purple fog while I was in bed nearby it. I was watching Conan O' Brien laying in my bed. I had to like force it away with my mind, insist it wasn't there. I don't know how else to explain it. Bedroom set up was weird, Sorta like a P on its side, where the vertical part is a hallway, and the semi circular part of the letter was where the bed and the TV were. On the hallway, facing the side of the bed, there was a hanging full length mirror.
(Circumstantial, my sister who shared a wall with me told me same night she saw a bunch of threads hanging from the ceiling on the opposite side of where the mirror was)
Had some bad shit happen to me at 23 and then saw a whole lotta shit. Became hyper aware to things around me. Initially felt like I was being watched. Then started seeing things in the corner of my eye in the dark move. Then saw black on shadow things with eyes i could only see if i thought about it. (red/yellow). Then i saw some manifestations. I ended up doing some magick and getting through it.
I used to work a job where I supervised a team who watched cameras that were all over the United States. The corporation I worked for is mammoth and critical to the functioning of a country, it's not some creep shit. but it kinda is no matter what ya do. Here's some of the stuff I saw:
The night before my father died I was up late working on a circuit board. I'm at this desk, behind me is a furnace room with a latched door. There is no entrance into that area. No one was in that area. It's like 3am. My cat is sleeping on my couch. I'm holding a soldering iron and looking through a magnifying glass helping hands, when there are three super loud KNOCKS on that furnace door, within the room, like a Cop is about to announce a warrant. Cat and I spring up, both of us with our hair up, I grab an electric battery powered chainsaw, throw open the door, nobody there! frazzled and disturbed, i tear down my work for the night, and go to bed.
I wake to a call of my mother screaming my father has died the next morning.
Most recently,
went to a reservoir with a friend in Baltimore. While there, a teenager came out of the wood at us and pulled a knife. Then he explained that he had no hope, was in and out of foster homes, was sexually assaulted, and we talked for a while. then he put his knife away. then he started talking about his birth parents being addicts. then some woman came out of the woods, stared at him, he bowed his head, and marched towards her and they both walked away.

When I was a little girl, maybe four years old or so, I had a good friend. A neighbor girl, who was a little older than me, named Gail. She was maybe 7 or 8, and she lived in the house behind ours on the next block over. She had blond, shoulder-length curly hair. She’d come over and play all the time, or we’d play in the back yard. She’d call for me by knocking on the kitchen door, or more often, coming to the breakfast room windows and waving at me during lunch or breakfast. We’d play outside, play with my dolls together, or play pretend, or read (I was a precocious reader, she liked the Cat in the Hat), or play chess. She was way better than me.
The thing is, those windows were at least 8 feet off the ground. To get to the kitchen door from the yard, you had to take two small steps up, then four more inside steps up to get into the kitchen from the back foyer. There is absolutely no way that a 7 year old girl could reach that window to look in.
I used to talk about her frequently enough, so my parents were aware of her. But when I brought her up a few years ago, they told me they thought she was my imaginary friend. They had thought that I had made her up - because they never saw her. In fact, they insist that she didn’t exist, that there was no child who came to the window, and in fact that no child lived in the house behind ours - and han’t for 60 years.

A few years ago, my mom was driving through our neighborhood, and my dad and I were in the car. We passed this empty house that was for sale. In the big front window, these weird stick figure type creatures were dancing! They looked like people, but eerily skinny. It was frenetic, crazy, disco type dancing. There was also a purple haze in the room, with flashing lights, and the window looked kind of obscured, like it maybe had a tinted film over it.
As soon as we rode by it, my dad and I locked eyes and both exclaimed, “WHAT WAS THAT??!!” We both excitedly started relaying what we had seen, and it was clear he had witnessed the exact same thing! My mom was flabbergasted, and immediately turned the car around. We had just gotten out of sight of the house when she did, so it only took us a few seconds to get back there.
I have never forgotten the shock I felt when we rode back by and the house was…empty. The big window was perfectly clear, no tint, and you could easily see into the room. There was NOTHING there. We could clearly see the bright early evening sunlight coming in through the side window and tumbling across the dark wooden floor. There. Was. Nobody. There. It’s impossible that people could have cleaned all that up and gotten out of there so quickly!
To this day, my dad and I talk about that from time to time, because we KNOW we saw it. I just can’t think of a reasonable explanation!
Bandando@reddit
Them spirits like to party!
cml678701@reddit
Yes! And the weird thing is, these reclusive people moved into that house, and have let weeds grow up where you can barely see the window anymore! We joke that the spirits have driven them crazy.

Maybe the spirits deliberately invited them in! Birds of a feather…

I was on a balcony in my dorm building with a friend. We both saw faeries. Not fireflies, they were dull brown (but still 'glowing') small floating things phasing in and out of existence. We were not high or drunk, for once.

I just did a really wonderful, small tour of Ireland this past September. We were taken to Kenmare Stone Circle where there are a few Hawthorn trees. Our tour guide proceeded to give us a historical/ mythological talk of the area. He went on to say “I believe in science, and I believe in faeries. You never cut down a Hawthorn tree in Ireland because the faeries live there.” It’s cool you saw them.

I don’t know that faeries and science are incompatible, or even that religion and science are incompatible. There’s so much shit we don’t know, and I bet if ever we could know all of it, we’d find these mystical things are pretty common and kind of mundane!

That is interesting they were dull brown. I see flashers and floaters at times, but the eye doctor just checks my eyes. I used to think it was an LSD flashback or something. I used to see visual snow at times, it was mild but it completely stopped when I stopped taking acid, shrooms, and smoking pot or hashish.

When I was a young teen, I got in an elevator in a public building. There was also a pregnant lady in the elevator. We happen to be riding up to our floor when we got stuck. The elevator had stopped and we were waiting for the fireman to come get us out -- and wouldn't you know! The woman began going into labor! I freaked out but ultimately, I had to deliver the baby. The whole episode lasted about thirty minutes. From what I hear, it happened a lot back then.

Alright, I was working on a movie at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. It was late at night half the cast and crew had been dismissed. It was me and a few other guys hanging out in a wing of the mansion where there were tables and chairs set up, waiting to be called to set. It was very dark and someone said “do you guys hear water running?” Everyone just brushed it off, I got up to explore. I entered a bathroom and there was water pouring out of a faucet flooding on to the floor, the floors were covered in cardboard to keep people from scuffing it, and the cardboard was soaked through. I tried to turn the faucet off but it was rusted tight and I gave up. It continued to flow, as we were called to set, and we wrapped up the final shot of the night. I went back the next morning and the water was off and all the cardboard on the floor was dry. It was a super creepy place to be especially at night.

I used to cater weddings there all the time! I wasn’t inside the mansion a lot, mostly in the stone courtyard.
Bandando@reddit
Ok, not gonna burst your bubble because for all I know, that’s some legit spooky shit happening, but we literally just had a faucet randomly leak in our basement under the sink, dry up, and then not leak again for days till a gush of water came out. We hadn’t even been using the sink, but apparently weird things like that can happen with a corroded/rusted faucet and water pressure issues.

Had a ghost cat at the house I lived in middle school. We had cats, none of them were white. Was in the living room and I saw it enter my room, was very confused since we didn't have any white cats, went to go check it out and couldn't find it anywhere, there was no where for it to hide or go since I didn't have much in my room and all my furniture was against the walls. Saw it about a half dozen times, always walked from behind the couch to enter my room and by the time I got to my room it was nowhere to be seen.

We have a ghost cat in our current house. Husband and I both turned and looked at the same spot at the same time, and we both saw the same cat in the same place. Then it just wasn't there. We had both seen what we thought was a cat before this, but this time was different because we both saw it.
We still see it around, and from time to time, one of us will just say, "ghost cat." We now have living cats inside, but this one is a markedly different color. Maybe we're hallucinating, but I'm delighted to have a ghost kitty living with us.

Not entirely unexplainable, but perhaps the oddest thing in my life is when I was about 7 or 8. I was walking down the hall and then I was holding the globe that was supposed to be covering the light bulb in the hall. It had fallen down, into my hands.
No one was working on it, so it just - must have fallen. I don’t remember it hitting my head, nor was my head sore. I don’t remember seeing it fall, or making an effort to catch it. I had no idea it WAS falling.
And I was a klutzy kid. Terrible at baseball/teeball.

When I was 12 years old, my mother, sister, and I lived in an apartment complex. The complex had four units mirroring four other units. Unfortunately, in the unit across from us, the mother of two boys overdosed in the home. After the boys moved out (I don’t remember if there was a father present) the landlord had a cleaning service come and clean the apartment. I started to chat with the lady that was cleaning the home at she was taking a break. I remember she had a lazy eye. As we were talking, she asked if someone died in the apartment and I said yes the mom did. She asked if it was specifically in the living room. I said I didn’t know. She said she saw her walking around there as if she was lost. After a little bit more of idol conversation, she did something that I’ll never forget. She looked directly at me with both eyes and call me by my first name (I never told her my name), “You need to stop playing the Ouija board. I can see spirits around you and they’re not the kind ones.” She said there’s one specific one that is very bad. At this time in my life I was playing it quite often with a friend of mine. So my 12-year-old self went and got the board, broke it in half and threw it over the fence and never played again. Never saw her before or after that conversation but I thank her for her warning.

I played Ouija board a few times in my parent's basement and it was never the same after. I got rid of the board and vowed to never play it again. Weird things continued, but at least I didn't make them worse.
Fast forward 10 years, I moved to across the country and whenever I go back to my parent's house, the basement feels peaceful. Like it's been restored. I wonder if the spirits dissapated overtime.
Question OP, I heard somewhere that it was bad to break Ouija boards. Did anything happen to you after you did that?
ThrowawayANarcissist@reddit
What happened after you used it that was weird?
M27fiscojr@reddit
Some unexplainable things like a knock at the door and no one was there. Chairs dragging across the woodfloor and no one was there. The feeling of someone was watching you. It's funny, but I when I go back home to my parent's house, I don't feel it anymore.

All we got was the spirit telling us (accurately) how many miles from the earth to the sun. It counted out all the zeros, too.
My friends and I were 12-year-old dorks.
photosynthesis4life@reddit
I never heard that it was bad to break them. Nothing bad spiritually happened as in hauntings. And I doubt I can contribute it to the bad events in my life… but who knows. I just knew in that moment I needed to break whatever bond was there and that’s what made sense at the time. But there probably was a better way to do it.
Otie1983@reddit
So from what I understand (and I have zero personal experience with ouija boards, just done research for friends, my Grandfather made me swear to him when I was a tween that I would never even be in the same room as one being used… he had such a terrifying experience when he was young… refused to say what it was so bad) the danger of breaking the board or not disposing of it safely, is more if the session wasn’t closed properly. That if the gateway was open, and the board is destroyed, that it can’t be closed again.
So I’d guess if you never had issues, it’s because you closed it before destroying it.
photosynthesis4life@reddit
Ah, that makes sense. Good to know. Wow that experience must have been traumatic for him. I need to tell the same to my kids now that you mention passing down good advice. I’ve heard of people telling stories of horrible things happening. It’s probably best that you never messed with it. It makes me uneasy just bringing all that up.
David_High_Pan@reddit
How trippy is it that a toy that you could buy at K-Mart is capable of opening a door to another realm.
Otie1983@reddit
Yeah, I avoided them at all cost. Unfortunately my friends didn’t heed my advice. One in particular decided to proceed with using one in spite of me telling her over and over it was a terrible idea and not to (which was why I did research on how to properly close and destroy the boards, figured if she was so adamant about using one, I’d at least do what I could to help her be safe)… and she ended up decided to do the exact OPPOSITE of everything I told her. Ended up with something attaching to her. I tried recommending ways to detach it… but again… complete opposite. In the end she tried to claim and tried to gaslight me into thinking I had pushed her to use the ouija board, but no, I didn’t… so that was the end of THAT friendship.
ThrowawayANarcissist@reddit
What do you mean by a recurring visitor? My friend and I used an Ouija board once when we were 9 and he made it say his older sister is a B-I-T-C-H.
diningroomjesus@reddit
I love that you threw it over the fence.
My mom and her two sisters had 2 ouija boards, one they found in the trash (totally not suspicious at all). The trash board they referred to as the 'evil board' because it liked to swear and it said nasty things. They only used it at the family summer place which was basically a cabin with no working plumbing. They kept it in the closet and sometimes broke it out when they got drunk.
My brother and I hated that place and particularly that closet when we were young. It never occured to me to blame it on the evil board, we just thought the entire place was spooky af. I still have nightmares about that closet.
ThrowawayANarcissist@reddit
😳How did she know you were using a yes yes ouija board?
photosynthesis4life@reddit
I have not idea. We were living in Louisiana and it’s not overreaching to say a lot of people down there are very sensitive to non-living. I could tell she knew and felt more than most. Can you imagine that just being a part of your life?
ThrowawayANarcissist@reddit
Sort of but I have friends who have seen or experienced ghosts. The one is a scientist and only told me when he was drunk.
drjenavieve@reddit

Preparation-Logical@reddit
lol that was my first guess. That's some shit my mom would have pulled
photosynthesis4life@reddit
I vaguely remember her buying it for me. She didn’t care much for what I did. Single mom and all. And I thought that might be what happened, like that lady knew us somehow, but it seriously doubt it. She was definitely the cleaning service and my mom honestly didn’t have the time for setting up stuff like that. She spent her time at work or getting lit. My mom would have thought it was cool that I was talking to spirits.
drjenavieve@reddit
I was just being sarcastic. What about your sister though, would she mess with you?
But for real, it’s really freaky story. Thanks for sharing.

Jawz40k@reddit
This reminds me of my own Ouija experience. In college I bought an old, used board at a one of those spiritual oddity stores. A couple friends and I played around with it one night. Afterwards, I always felt a strange presence in my dorm room.
One night I was folding laundry when I heard rustling in my closet. I ignored it at first but it kept occuring. I finally opened the door to see the board sitting there. I picked it up and felt what can only be described as a dark vortex circling the board. I decided at that moment, I had to get ride of it. I took it outside, and tossed it over a fence that bordered an empty field. I still remember that moment vividly. As I tossed it, the board lite up in the snowy moonlight. The paper cover detached from the cardboard while in midair and split perfectly in two; each half flying in opposite directions. The board and the paper disappeared into the darkness.

We were camping and my friend was cutting a hole in a used plastic coke bottle, with the objective of making a hole that would fit a small length of garden hose. He was using a very sharp kitchen knife and was pushing into the bottle with the palm of his hand directly opposite the point and directly in the line of his push. I said “dude, ya gotzta cut away from yourself. You’ll stab your hand!” He said “nah, I do this all the time” He gave one good push and it went through the front and the back of the coke bottle, and into his palm by a small length (maybe 5mm).
So yeah, I can’t explain this casual attitude to knife use.

When I was very young, I would have this recurring dream of going to the same house. At the time, I had been having this dream since before I could remember. It had been happening for at least several years. It was a pleasant dream and I looked forward to it.
I would walk through the front door, it was a split level so I would go up a short flight of stairs that lead into the living room. Then I would walk straight across and into the kitchen.
There were always adults in the kitchen but they were blurry. They were always making spaghetti and meatballs, but they would tell me to go play.
Next, I would walk out of the kitchen doorway and go right, down a hallway with bedrooms. I never went into any of these bedrooms, but at the end of the hall was a small table with a Rainbow Brite doll on it that I would play with.
Then I would walk back down the hallway, turn right, walk through the living room and then down the stairs to the lower level, turning right and this brought me to a tv room. The tv was the kind that looked like a piece of furniture and there was a couch directly in front of it.
On the back wall that ran along the stairs there were 2 doors. I knew one was a bedroom and the other was a laundry room. Sometimes I would poke around in each of these rooms, but the details of them were usually blurry.
What I looked forward to was the door that was to the right of the television. It was a small room, but when I opened the door it was filled practically to the ceiling with toys! It was kid heaven. And the dream always ended with my playing in that room.
Fast forward to the summer after second grade. My parents had just divorced and I wasn’t handling it well. They decided I should stay with my rich aunt and cousin that I was close in age to for the summer (my father’s sister). They lived in one of those big McMansions in a neighborhood where every road ended with a cul-de-sac. She had soo many great toys. My aunt signed us up for roller skating lessons (the highlight of my summer).
One day, we went to my cousin’s other grandparents. The grandparents we do not share. When I walked through the front door, I knew immediately it was the house in my dream!
We walked into the kitchen where all of the adults had gathered, and they were making spaghetti and meatballs. They said it would be a bit before dinner was ready, so we should go play downstairs. As my cousin and I walked back towards the staircase, I looked down the upstairs hallway and lo and behold, there was a Rainbow Brite doll on a table at the end of the hallway.
Once we were downstairs in the tv room, I excitedly told my cousin about my dream and that this was the house. Of course, she didn’t believe me…I mean, it’s crazy! The door to my favorite room was closed…so I said, “I’ll prove it to you. I know what is in that room.” She was incredulous, there was no way I could know. I told her the room was filled with toys, and she was shocked! We opened the door and sure enough, it was toys upon toys.
I asked her, I never knew why the house had a room filled with toys….she told me her grandmother used to babysit. My cousin seemed to believe me more after this, but she was still skeptical. It doesn’t matter, I know.
I never had the dream again after that day. I don’t know why it even happened. I have had have numerous strange occurrences throughout my life. One of my mother’s cousins is a professional psychic-she even works with psychic kids at a summer camp. She says it runs in our family. 🤷♀️

I was on top of my girlfriend's apartment building in uptown Chicago looking at the night skyline and drinking a glass of wine when I saw two bright orbs/lights descend from high up in the sky over the city. They rotated around each other before splitting apart at high speed. One went north along the lake behind the buildings and the other went south. Mesmerized, I walked along the roof to follow the one that went south since it was less obscured by trees when I kicked something and momentarily lost my balance. It was the 12" sidewall of the roof. I caught myself in time, but could have very easily fallen 3 floors onto the rot iron cemetery fence below her building. I remember how quickly I went from being entranced to being terrified that I almost fell off a roof onto iron spikes. I backed up and slowly walked over to her access vent in her roof and shouted down to her what I experienced. She was cooking dinner and listening to her soul music and she didn't seem to give my story much weight. She said "oh weird" or something then she told me to not fall off her roof because she would be pissed and we're not supposed to be up there anyway.
I couldn't stop thinking about those orbs for weeks

Were the orbs green? A friend and I were driving around the suburbs at night smoking bowls and saw what we thought was a fucking alien invasion. That funny tension thing? Is it like the ringing in your ears type of thing?
Way, way long ago, my husband and I were getting ready to go out for like a date night or something, and I was at the mirror putting on mascara, and he was sitting on the throne lacing up his boots, when we each turned to look at each other. There was a strange sort of tension in the air, and we could feel something building up. There was a ringing sound in my ears that was escalating and he said, "Do you hear that?"
And then our glass shower doors shattered. It was tempered glass, so neither of us was hurt, but it was the damndest thing.
moeru_gumi@reddit
People can sometimes feel subsonic waves (such as the P waves in an earthquake), or very very low frequencies from geological activity, explosions, etc that are too low to hear with your ears— but animals and people can sometimes sense them in another way. Like the pressure of an oncoming tornado. A very low frequency wave could shatter glass like that.

I took my loneliness and depression and vanished into books. In middle school, at the height of me getting bullied, I became interested in the paranormal. Ghosts, ESP, aliens, etc. I consumed every book on the subjects I could find both at my school library and the public library. I watched tons of those kinds of shows.
I realized pretty early that it was all bullshit. People will always jump to magic whenever something happens they don't understand or can't immediately explain. It's how magicians work. Logically you understand that it's a trick, that there was some device or slight of hand, but at some level you want it to be real magic.

I sat down and leaned against the side of my car while I looked up at the sky and smoked a cigarette. It was really nice if a bit creepy (being a girl by herself in an empty lot in the middle of the night). While I was looking at the stars, a cat walked across the lot towards me. It didn’t come up for pets or try to greet me. It just walked up, caught my eye, and took a seat. We watched the stars together for a while like that. When I got up to get back in my car I thanked the cat and it looked me in the eye again before slowly walking back across the parking lot. Not creepy - just a completely unexpected and wonderful moment of connection with another living being.

Not as amazing as your story, but one time while I was walking early in the morning, I saw a really large turtle sitting at the edge of a pond, and I looked at him and he looked back at me. I smiled and waved my arm and said “mornin’ turtle!” Then he nodded his head and raised his little flipper arm. I had a big smile on my face the rest of my walk, it was just so special. Lol ◡̈

So very many things, like the time my daughter and I heard thumps on the side of the house and on the roof, accompanied by what sounded like a pterodactyl from a movie and all the lights in the house flickering off and on.
Perhaps you'd enjoy the Xennial-hosted podcast, "Monsters Among Us". It's a paranormal call-in show with all sorts of peculiar stories.

If it was a pterodactyl that would be rad as shit. Did you see anything?
Supposedly, multiple people in Sedona Arizona have seen dinosaurs and pterosaurs. I wanna ride one.
nerdkraftnomad@reddit
I heard on "Monsters Among Us" that a pterodactyl creature has been seen by multiple people in my county but we didn't see anything. My daughter is convinced it was something demonic, because it started while we were saying her bedtime prayers but I suspect it really was what it sounded like. Wing flaps would explain the thumps and if it was bumping against the electrical equipment outside the house, which happened to be in exactly that corner, it would explain the flickering lights.

Growing up I lived across the street from a two-story middle school, with a small park at the end of my block, just outside the city of Chicago. It was summer 1994 and I had eaten dinner at my friend's house then went to the dollar store with him and his parents. They dropped me off at home and it was already dark out. I ran inside to let my mom know I was going to the park to play with this fucking toy I bought; it was one of those plastic contraptions where you pull the rip cord and the top spins right off the base and goes flying in the air.
I get to the empty park and let her rip. As I watch the top disc spin in to the night sky I see it. A long black ship with red lights hovering what must have been just a few feet above the school. It didn't make any noise and was just slowly moving in one direction. I took my eyes off it when I heard a car run over and break the plastic top disc, as apparently it had landed in the street. I ran over to pick up the pieces and looked up again, and it was still there just slowly moving just above the buildings.
I was pretty sure it was man made, but I'd never seen anything like it before or since, and can't fathom why an experimental aircraft was fucking around a quiet suburban neighborhood.

Whilst I was in resting on the bed a strange ball of light flash appeared suddenly infront of the mirror which lasted for about half a second.
Only way I can describe what I think I saw was something like a science fiction movie and seeing some portal attempting to open up before your very eyes only to close again with a second.

I woke up on a Sunday morning frozen in a crucifix position with my blankets off of me. My head/neck was frozen looking left, and while looking towards the foot of my bed(I could only move my eyes) I saw what looked like a shadow of something wearing a hood standing there. I would describe it as how death looks in paintings but without the scythe.
I only this I could do was go back to sleep… woke up in the same position but could move again

This happened to me last year. It's small but I also have no explanation for what happened. It was about 4:00am and I got up to go to the bathroom. On the wall across from the toilet there was a drop of blood and near that it looked like someone had smeared blood with two fingers. I looked to see if my cat had killed a mouse and there was nothing. I've lived in my current apartment since 2011, so I know it's definitely not haunted. I have no idea where the blood, or whatever it was, came from and I haven't seen anything like it since.
szechuan_steve@reddit
I've heard linseed oil can do this. The caveat being that it hasn't been used since the early 1900s. If your apartment is that old, linseed oil can seep through and make it look an awful lot like the walls are bleeding.
But I would assume the pattern would be different than what you saw, too.

My maternal grandfather volunteered at Cahokia Mounds, and always warned us, “Don’t ever be on the Mounds at sunrise or sunset. And if you do, and you hear something behind you, do NOT turn around.” I always took his seriously. One of my last visits to the mounds before his death, we were there late, and I noticed the sun was going down, so I started heading back, when all of a sudden, I heard what sounded like a city of people behind me, like how I figured Cahokia sounded like when it was “alive.” I did not turn around, and carefully hurried down the stairs made into the mounds. No one else mentioned seeing or hearing anything else, but when I talked to my grandfather, he just nodded and we never spoke of it again. Still terrified to be there near sunrise or sunset.

I write horror fiction (check out my profile if you want more info) but I have had a few real experiences that I could not explain. I'm just going to recount 2 of them - one a ghost encounter and the other just insanely creepy.
When I was about 19, I was hanging out at a friend's house party where we watched a movie and used the occasion as a chance to socialize. As the night was coming to a close, I decided to call it for the night and walk back to my car in the dark. The street was packed with vehicles and I had to walk a good 7-8 houses down to get to my car.
As I'm walking I notice out of the corner of my eye a small girl standing across the street, facing me with an angry expression. I made full eye contact, and chills just hit me. There are moments in life when your fight or flight kicks in and you just know something is bad / danger is near—and this moment of eyes connecting was very much that. It was so uncomfortable almost instantly.
Now I'm not afraid of children. She looked dressed for a different time period, angry, and never said a word but kept her gaze on me from across the street.
I very quickly walked to my car while keeping my eyes on her. As I walked she turned her head and kept gazing at me in a stern fashion.
A van was parked in front of my vehicle, and so it blocked my line of sight for just a moment. I got in my car freaked out a bit and drove down the street toward the spot where she had been.
She was gone, and in her place was a decorative white mailbox. There was no way she could have been standing in the spot, physically there was another object there.
It scared the crap out of me, because not only was the child unnerving, but the prolonged viewing meant I was not imagining this. I was very much awake.
Later that week I told my friend whose party I had been at and a few of the friends that had been at the party, if they had seen such a small girl. None had, but one of my friends asked where I had seen her, and upon showing the mailbox, told me that the house was in fact their grandparents house they currently lived in, and that they had no children, but had noted odd things happening in the home from time to time.
So whatever I saw, my friends thought must be connected to the hauntings the grandparents were experiencing. I just happened to walk by and actually see the ghost.
Not a ghost story, but oh boy hold onto your hats.
I love kayaking, the wife and I go to a local lake often to get out on the water. Most times we bring snacks and a packed lunch onboard, the. find a quiet cove and eat on the water.
This trip was a perfect day. We get to the boat ramp and there is a set of life jackets hung for free and the typical warnings about water safety nearby. We slip out kayaks in, and away we go!
Beautiful sunny day on the water. We paddle out into the lake a bit, pass a sandy beach looking area, cut into one of the offshoots on the lake, then paddle back for some time until we find a quiet, calm and secluded spot to enjoy our lunch under some shade.
This spot was interesting—lots of lily pads and tree coverage at kind of a dead end for the water, but no shoreline worth pulling off on. Just before that area was a small rock formation where kids would jump off and into the water. Overall a beautiful spot for a picnic from the boats.
We enjoy our lunch, the paddle back up the waterway toward the open lake / beach area, then onward toward the boat launch. We get to the boat launch and the police are there refueling their patrol boat. The cops ask how our day went and we made short talk about how lovely the day was.
We pack up our kayaks and gear—then drive home.
The perfect day.
The next day as I'm working I see news break about the lake we had been on the day before. Apparently, a man had gone missing and was presumed drown right about the time we had been on the lake.
I checked the location where he had last been seen and it was near where we had turned off the lake and paddled downstream. I texted my wife, and as we discussed I wondered if, based on the currents from the previous day, his body could have drifted into that small cove we had our quiet lunch in. A morbid thought, but I said if I was leading the search, that is exactly where I would look.
My wife and I move on with our day, and the text conversation becomes a fleeting thought.
About two hours later, news breaks that the authorities found the man's body.
They found him exactly where we had been enjoying our lunch floating in our kayaks.
He could have even potentially been there when we were there.
That was a wild moment. My wife and I discussed what would have happened if we had found him—what would that moment have been like?
It definitely spooked us a bit.
This experience ultimately became the foundation for a story I wrote in my book, titled "Those Down Deep".
After the authorities found this man's body, I began researching the lake more, and found over 45 people have died in its waters over the last few years.
One true story stood out to me.
A family of 3 generations (grandma / grandpa, mom and dad, children) all went for a trip to that lake together on a beautiful sunny weekend. They anchored their boat off the very sandy beach my wife and I paddled past, and the family took various ice chests, chairs, towels and their little dog with them to the shore. They had a great day of enjoying the lake it seemed.
The next morning, the police patrol passed by and found the boat still anchored off the shore. The police found nobody on the shore, but did find all their stuff (beach chairs, towels, sand toys, coolers, beach balls) and their small dog running up and down the beach barking.
The family was just gone.
Authorities called in divers, and sure enough, about 20 feet off the shore they found all 3 generations: someone had gotten pulled by the tide and then stuck in the mud floor of the lake—the entire family drown and got stuck as well trying to save each other.
3 generations of a family found on the floor of the lake.
The county has such a pouring of outrage over the accident, the county began warning others with signage and provided the very free life vests my wife and I passed when launching our kayaks into the lake.
Ultimately this information and experience led me to write about a fictional haunted lake. I titled the tale "Those Down Deep" and you can find it in my profile links as part of my book "Running Chills".

I was a travel nurse for several years and worked/lived all over the country. I was working an assignment in Northern Maine, near the NB border, which is very rural and was living in a big old house which had been converted into two apartments. I had my two cats with me who, from the get-go, were obsessed with peeking under the front door of my apartment, which led to the landing and front stairwell. They would often watch and bat their paws under the door like they were playing with something, which they’d never done before anywhere else. After a few days living there, I’d start to hear the door rattling and just assumed it was a draft. Then one afternoon (I worked nights) I woke up and found that the door to my apartment, which I had locked (the knob was still locked) was wide open and my cats just chilling on the landing. Only people with a key were me and the landlord, and he lived 2 hours away. After that, the rattling of the door when the cats were looking under it became commonplace until I finally got annoyed one night and said, “Would you KNOCK IT OFF??” The noise stopped and then there was a SLAM! against the front door like someone had smacked their hand against it. I finally said, “Okay, this is your house and I’m a guest. You can play with my cats but please don’t come in.” After that, the rattling stopped but the cats would still play under the door. 🤷♀️

I’m sure there’s some sort of body/brain correlation reflex, but when I was around 11 or 12 years old I had a sleepover at my friends lake house and we shared a pull out sofa bed. I was dreaming I was perpetually falling down a pit/cliff type thing. In my dream I hit the ground, and in real life my body flung upwards like bouncing off the ground from impact. You’d think that was also part of my dream, but in doing so it immediately woke my friend up beside me wondering wtf was going on. My heart felt like it was going to tear though my chest!

A few years after college, I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I heard some popping, clicking sounds so I looked up to where they were coming from. They were tiny blue sparks flashing in and out in the lightbulbs above the vanity. It was very pretty and hypnotic. I just stood there mesmerized with how pretty the sparks were and how relaxed and good they made me feel.
This went out for maybe twenty or thirty seconds. Then I felt a warm breeze, and they were gone.
One of my best friends from high school and I saw a “UFO.” We were sitting out on my back porch one afternoon. I forgot which of saw it first, but one of us pointed up and said, “dude, look at that!”
It was a spinning cylindrical object. It was white, and it was fairly close, but totally silent. I don’t even know how to describe it other than it looked distinctly like a machine. I’ve never seen a bird or animal sense that looked anything like it. It traversed the sky in about fifteen or twenty seconds and it was gone. My friend got scared and called the airport and they were like, “okay kid, sure bro.”
NighthawkCP@reddit
I would love to catch a UFO/UAP. I've been photographing aircraft for over a decade and have a 600mm telephoto lens and can be frequently found out in the yard snapping aircraft photos as they fly over, or at a nearby airport of military base. Additionally I have a tracker up all day long so I can see what is in the vicinity that is broadcasting. I've caught all sorts of neat things, including some kinda wild stuff like a Google Loon balloon, which definitely looked like a flying saucer. So far I've never had something I couldn't explain though.
AL_12345@reddit
I’ve been a pretty big skeptic most of my life, but a lot of the UAP disclosure stuff has me now believing that it’s likely true. One possible explanation is that there really is some sort of cloaking technology. It could also be that the propulsion system warps space around the ship making it impossible to take high resolution photos.
Time will eventually reveal the truth.
OneLifeThatsIt@reddit
I kinda feel this way about all of these stories. There are likely non-supernatural explanations, we just don't know what they are.
NighthawkCP@reddit
Yea, I've been able to help explain some "UFO's" to people in the area when they ask about seeing a flying object or something in my area and give me the time and location. I'm also open to a paranormal experience, but I'm pretty skeptical and like to determine what could cause the experience outside of just, ghosts. But again, I've never had any sort of unexplained experience before that I couldn't explain, so not trying to shit on others, it has just never happened to me personally.
OneLifeThatsIt@reddit
I've had a weird experience like in this thread, but I chalk it up to imperfect memories, a dream, or something like that (brother and I both saw a girl in our rooms, not at the same time, and supposedly didn't tell each other, but I don't remember for sure - probably just convinced myself I saw it too). I'm a skeptic but don't rule it out completely, I just don't think it's really possible. Most things have an explanation of some sort.
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
No. Because our brains are very fuckin' flawed and of that I have plenty of repeatable, recorded, verifiable, peer-reviewed evidence.
We may not know it, we may not be able to figure it out, but there's always an explanation.

The Old Hag is older than Canada. Though, that's where it got the name "Old Hag". There are traditions of evil spirits tormenting people's sleep all over the world. Scandinavia has the Mara, which etymologically contributed to the word "nightmare".

Sleep paralysis is very often confused for hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations. They are different though.
If you can't move as you're waking up, that's sleep paralysis.
If you see and / or hear some shit as you're falling asleep - that's a hypnogogic hallucination.
If you see / hear shit as you're waking up, that's hypnopompic.
The two are commonly, but not always accompanied by sleep paralysis. Which is why they're confused for being the same. That, and tons of YouTubers and podcasters never learned the difference.

Sit me down with a blind person who never heard of, but just sat through Star Wars playing on mute while I was out of the room. Then ask us both about Star Wars.
Your premise is beyond absurd. Now, I'll grant you that fully cognizant people in a situation may have more observational data about a situation, but that doesn't mean their reasoning skills give them any capability to correctly comprehend what they think they just saw.
gnrlgumby@reddit
I mean, you may find it comforting, but it is kinda horrifying to think our memories and experiences are chemical reactions and not actual events.
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
Where does our brains working electro-chemically mean that the things we did and experienced weren't real? Certainly we can do similar with recording data onto hard-drives. Does the recorded data being stored magnetically or electrically mean that what was recorded wasn't real? Of course not.
Sure our brains are far from perfect, but we've also developed remarkable systems to support our brains and allow us to exert our intellect far beyond what we can teach ourselves to recall.

Nothing crazy like the ghost or supernatural stories. Just a wild adventure
There were 4 of us 19yo guys out boating in our friend’s older boat. While out on the lake wakeboarding we were talking about all the things we were going to modify to the boat. We decided we’d go home rather than camp out (2 hour drive).
We got the boat loaded and start driving back. Now this road was built over whoops and around valleys and big ravines in southern Nevada desert (Lake Mead). I was riding shotgun and about 5 minutes into the drive I reached down to get the CDs and the disc-man and hear the driver yell “THE BOAT!”
As he yells. I look in the mirror and see the boat and trailer next to the explorer. I turn to see what I saw and watch the boat hit a berm, go airborne and flip upside down, land & slide 30 yards and slide off into the ravine catapulting the trailer down
We get out while my friend is flipping out “my dad is going to kill me” (his dad was a prick). I’m just looking down at this boat that’s about 10 feet down and trying not to freak out about how that was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It was like an action sequence with the timing from my view
We climbed down and it looks like someone took a chainsaw to the boat and sliced it clean off. The trailer is in good shape despite being launched down a ravine. So we get back to the road. There is no way our Nokia has service out in the boonies of south east Nevada 40 miles or so from Vegas and 100+ from our house
I think it was close to the 4th and the tow truck was out and the marina said you can’t pull it out yourself for whatever reason, I wasn’t there
No way that is happening with 4 kids and two of us being hillbilly types. We found service, called his dad who flipped out and sped down
He shows up around 8 or so which is something which meant he was going to lay into him and he did. They pulled it out and we get home around 1am expecting my parents to be upset or worried
Both asleep. “Oh you are home and safe, that sounds crazy, go to bed”. Good ol 90s parents

Personally I absolutely believe in UFOs after I saw a flying saucer when I was young. I use that term deliberately because that is exactly what it looked like. Been following that community ever since.
I believe in ghost, whatever that means. I personally haven’t had an encounter, but I know people I completely trust that have. And there are just too many examples.
I’m on the fence about “Bigfoot “. I do accept that people have had encounters with something we don’t yet know about.

TL; DR: My aunt knew the exact time that my uncle (her husband) died. Nobody was there but me. I still haven't told her that she was right.
Context: He was on hospice and I was acting as his night nurse of sorts. My aunt had made me swear to get some sleep before leaving the night before, told me I was wearing myself thin by not sleeping every night to watch over him and then staying awake all day to be with family. She is not the kind of person you disobey, so I swore that I would... but I couldn't let him die alone and didn't sleep.
When it started happening, it happened so fast. The nurse had just left ~15 minutes previously and the change was unmistakable. I think it took ~2 minutes total, but it felt like an eternity while telling him how much we all loved him and who was waiting for him on the other side (I don't believe in an afterlife but he did). I still worked clinically at the time, so when it was done I felt compelled to call the time of death in my head.
When my aunt got the call the next morning (a few hours later when the nurses rounded again) I maintained that I had gone to sleep so I didn't know the time of death. My aunt said she knew what time he died and correctly restated his actual time of death even though she wasn't notified and he wasn't pronounced until hours later.

This was YEARS before drones were a thing, so we had NO idea what it was.

This happened in late 2009 or early 2010. I had just moved into this apartment and had been there less than a year. From the moment we had moved in (me and my then 5 yr old daughter), we would come home after work and school and you could just sense that someone was in there. Things were moved. I changed the locks and didn't tell the landlord because obv my first suspicion was the landlord or maintenance crew. Yet we were still coming home noticing things moved or feeling like someone had been in there.
One night, I'm laying in bed and getting ready to go to sleep. I'm curled on my side with my eyes closed. I feel something crawl across my legs and then grab my side. I open my eyes thinking it's my daughter. There is nothing there. It's just me in the room. She's sleeping soundly in her bedroom next door.
There were other moments after that, but that one sticks out the most.
I think it all stopped maybe our 3rd yr in the apartment. Never could explain it.

I worked in a mall built on an old slave cemetery (still convinced they pulled a poltergeist of moving the crosses, but not the bodies). Heard mall workers talk about the mall being haunted, but never believed them. I was closing the store I worked in (I opened, worked all day, and closed by myself), counting out the cash register when a candle flew off a shelf and across the room a solid 20 feet. Straight across. Zero explanation. If it had been plain gravity, it wouldn’t have fallen like that. I was who set the candles on the shelf, so it couldn’t have been a prank 🤷♀️

For two weeks after 9/11 I cried myself to sleep. On one of those nights I started to hyperventilate, which I had never done, only seen others do. I couldn't stop and realized I'd never make it to wake someone and was panicking, so I prayed for help. I am Catholic (no longer practicing, and with serious issues with their reproductive dogma) so I prayed to Mary. Instantly, I was calm and breathing normally. It was completely freaky, and if I hadn't been so calm I would have been spooked.
Maybe praying distracted my malfunctioning systems enough to break the cycle? I know praying acts on the body like meditating. But it sure was dramatic, just instant calm and peace.
If there is a divine, they might have saved my life that night.

I have many! Here is one of the stranger ones: Once while living in Portland OR, my wife and I were having a beautiful day walking hand in hand towards Powell's bookstore in downtown. Up ahead I could see a throng of folk waiting for the bus. Among them is a very tall lanky dude dressed in old thrift store attire, old v neck sweater, beige pants, fishing hat. As we get closer, I could see there was something wrong with his face. I have a hard time with extreme facial deformity ever since I was a child so I cannot bring myself to look at this man as we pass him, yet I see him in my perhiphery and it is bad. He starts walking up the street towards us. I soon feel my wife's grip slacken in my hand as she apparently stared directly at him. What I saw was a tall man with with no lower half to his face. He had no nose and no mouth. My wife looked directly at him and we both agreed that what we saw made no sense. It was as if his mouth and nose were ripped off in some sort of horrible accident, and the wound simply healed over the nose and mouth, leaving a large clump of scar tissue. It didn't make any sense! How could he breathe? How could he eat? There were no nostrils and no opening for a mouth; it was as if his oral and nasal cavities were simply covered by the healing of the wound. My wife said he was wearing goggles because there was no nose for glasses to rest upon. I just can't imagine the human body would heal like that. There have been a few things I witnessed in AZ, though many can be explained away one way or another.
2 stand out as difficult to provide an explanation for.
The first I remember is like a classic "Are you afraid of the dark?" story. Me and my mom were driving down a very twisty road through the desert at night towards Baghdad AZ where my uncle worked for the mine there. A horse burst out of the brush right in front of our car and I swear to this day we passed right through it's back legs. We should have hit it. The ghost story part is when we got to Baghdad and were talking with my uncle, before we ever mentioned the horse he told us how his childhood friend had died the previous evening when a horse ran in front of his car and both him and the horse died.
The second that stands out is potentially just the messed up memory of a little kid, as I was 10 at the time. I remember being home alone and seeing the lotto come on TV. I wrote down the numbers so my mom would have them but when she got home she said the lotto wasn't for another 2 days. She used all but 1 of the numbers I gave her on a ticket. The numbers I gave her were the winning numbers and she won 1000 or something but because she changed 1 of them we didn't win. She collaborated that story till she passed away earlier this year so I personally believe it happened.

My girlfriend and I were driving in Massachusetts one night in an area known as “The Bridgewater Triangle”. We turned onto a road in a dark forested area, and suddenly I saw what appeared to be an apparition of a woman in a long dress cross out in front of my car. I slammed on my breaks and gasped. I thought for sure my girlfriend would be like “wtf are you doing?”
She saw the same thing and asked “holy shit you saw that too?” She saw a woman wearing a dress straight out of the 1890s.
She is atheist and I am agnostic. We don’t believe in supernatural things, but THAT experience made us question the possibility of it.

when my mom was passing 12 years ago, we decided to do at home hospice with a team of nurses. when her time came, I was the only family member at home and a nurse came and told me it was time and left me alone with her. we kept the blackout shades down so she could sleep during the day... the room was pretty dark.
she was struggling to catch her breath for like 30 straight minutes while mostly unconscious, which was quite upsetting to see so I was doing my best to tell her to just let it take her and pass on.
she had brain cancer so she hadn't really been cognizant of the whole situation in her final days but she then looked towards me, looked at me warmly, closed her eyes as tears streamed down the sides, and then started literally glowing like a glow worm.
the whole room lit up with a warm light and I could suddenly see the blankets on the chair and picture frames on the dresser. then it faded slowly back to darkness and she had expired.
turns out, this is a known phenomenon that is unexplained for the most part. but, wtf how is that real

About 10 years ago, my hubs and I stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Co , The Shining Hotel. We stayed on the 4th floor which is supposedly the most haunted floor. About 2 am, the jiggling of the bathroom door handle woke me up. I continued to lay there thinking I made the entire thing up, and then all the sudden I had my leg grabbed. I felt the covers move and I felt the hand on my leg. Hubs was asleep on the other side of me. No one else was there. I cannot wait to go back!!

Years ago, I stepped out of the house I was renting in a relatively quiet town late at night. I could hear what I thought was metal music coming down the road. But it was a lone guy was walking down the road repeating “kill them all, I’ll kill them all” over and over again. The freaky part was he was speaking with multiple voices, like typical exorcism movie stuff. Main one was deep and gutteral, but there was 2 or 3 more underneath at different pitches. I was ready to jump back in the house but I watched him pass by without seeming to notice me.
Maybe not unexplainable. I get some people can do crazy things with their vocal cords, but this made the hair on the back of my neck stand up like nothing else.

When i was rooming with my sister i had borrowed her truck to drive around sometimes, i didt have my own at the time. before I saw the Phoenix lights being broadcasted on the news. I had taken her truck on one of these random trips, I remember driving under one of the lights and looking up through the front windshield at it like what the he'll is that street light doing out of place. After that, even now, I have nothing after that memory or image in my mind. No drive back to the apartment no waking up later follows that image in my mind. Just the memory of driving up under it ,the light, the trying to figure out the weirdness of the lights placement. And that's the end of that memory.

Many, however, the most recent was I saw the apparition of my great grandmother, sitting next to my grandma who is nearly a centarian. It happened a few weeks before my grandma's sister died. My grandma is now the only surviving member of her family of origin. When I saw the apparition I thought my grandma would be leaving soon. I was with my grandma when she spoke to her sister for the last time--and I didn't see but felt the same presence.

Holy shit, this is reminding me that I dreamt of a spinster great aunt just last night…I didn’t know her well, but there was a similar “last of the line” vibe while we were talking. Except my other great aunt—her sister—is still living.
Humphalumpy@reddit

Bandando@reddit
Yeah, I don’t remember getting the sense my living aunt is on her way out, though, for whatever that’s worth. It was almost more like, “hey, it’s nice to have this chance to get to know you!” She was kind of curmudgeonly and a bit of a loner, but she seemed really happy and put together in the dream. For all I know, she was really happy with her life, too, but just didn’t want much to do with her family (probably with good reason, unfortunately).

I used to be so into paranormal things. My favorite show was the x- files, I have tons of books on the subjects, I even used to say I wanted to be a parapsychologist lol. Now however, I still want to believe...and I do with UAPs...but everything else I'm a skeptic on. Actually not even a skeptic I've fully lost my faith.

I wonder if some people are naturally mediums or something, so they experience things when others don't.
I worked in a hospital 11 years, many of those were night shifts, and never experienced anything when other staff members said they did.
I lived in an apartment building for 12 years built on land where a funeral home used to sit. I never heard anything but all the neighbors, although those walls/ceilings/floors so noise was constant and loud.
There's a client where I work now who is a medium. Last time she came in I asked if there was anyone or anything surrounding me, she said nope there isn't.
kittensbabette@reddit
I think if you look for things it's easy to hype yourself up. Especially coincidences can start to be signs, etc The moment I found out my grandpa died his name was said on the TV movie I just happened to be watching. It wasn't a super common name but not rare either. I took that as a sign at the time but realized it was just a coincidence now. I have a friend who gets all sorts of "messages" from coincidences like this, like the number in the guy she likes licence plate is the same as her address or something like that and they become so abstract it starts to sound so crazy to me. Also the older I get the more bullshit artists I meet who will just say something as fact and you know it's not true or just really embellished, it starts to make me doubt anyone who claims anything fantastical... Although I will say with hospital workers and first responders, I do think they experience things that we can't explain with the science available to us. The veil is thinner when people are between worlds and...ope! Listen to me, I guess I might not be the cynical skeptic I just claimed to be 😅
Bandando@reddit
I’m with you in the sense that I think we just don’t have explanations yet for this weird stuff. Not that it isn’t happening, or that there aren’t some people bullshitting themselves or others, but just that we only have so many ways to process the information around us.

WhatTheCluck802@reddit
Yes. I love these stories and I WANT to believe - but I think there are logical explanations for things. What they are, I don’t know.
My unexplained experience was the UFO I saw back in 2003… not saying it was a craft piloted by little gray creatures but it was a flying (actually hovering…) object that I cannot explain by any known earthly item back in those days. Drones were not a thing and there was nothing in that rural field that could have projected blinking colored lights silently hovering and zig zagging in the night sky. No aircraft I was aware of had that capability, certainly not in the middle of podunk rural Vermont. And I did not have a smartphone then of course so no video. Watched it for about 20 minutes. The strangest thing.

I did some ghost hunting once and the next morning I woke up to someone calling my name. I laid in bed processing what happened when I heard it again this time while fully awake.

I was in an airplane flying south to north I believe.
I looked out the window and there was a circle of light.
Well that’s weird, the sun shouldn’t leave a circle as it’s so diffused.
I keep watch and a small hole in the clouds opens, barely bigger than the light circle (which at my angle was maybe an inch or two in diameter), I see a wing and a blue light.
wtf? What is that?
So I keep watching, and there’s a big break coming up, now I will see what..it…is….
Where is it?!?!?!
I see a reflection of light where it should be, like light reflecting off glass type reflection.
Never figured out what it was. I didn’t ask anyone else, because I didn’t want to be that crazy loony on a place and it was only a few years since 9/11.
So I saw SOMETHING, but no idea what it was.

I swear I saw a serial killer or at least a murderer. On a Sunday in the summer of 1997, I was gassing up the old wagon. These were the days when you had to give the cashier cash at night before you could pump. As I was paying, this ancient GMC pickup truck pulls up to the pump next to where I parked. The driver wore only a pair of filthy overalls and had a wild grey beard. As I w as liked back to my car, the foulest odor I have ever smelled poured from the covered bed of that truck. The dude stared me down as I walked and continued to stare at me as I filled up. I immediately finished fueling and peeled out as fast as my old car allowed.

So I worked with a guy whose son was sort of a hippie drifter, hitchhiked and took odd jobs, that sort of thing. Well, supposedly the son was hired to dig a bunch of holes in some weirdo’s back yard. Big holes. Like, stupidly big holes, for trees or bushes the guy didn’t even have on hand to plant. Supposedly, one morning the kid shows up to dig some more holes and the cops and neighbors have the place surrounded. He just turned around and never went back—and never was questioned!

I was once down by a creek alone. I would spend time collecting rocks and finding golf balls (course wasn’t too far away). Weirdly, you could always find porn magazines in the woods. Perhaps why I was really there. 🤷♂️
One afternoon, I was doing my thing. I turned to my left and saw someone standing about 50 yards away. The being looked like a lizard. About 6 ft. It didn’t know I was there. As I started to step away, it quickly turned its head towards me. It didn’t move, only gazed at me. I got spooked and ran as fast as I could out of there. Road my bike right home.
The closest reference to what it looked like was the Creature from the Black Lagoon as it had kind of gill things on the side of its face.
I never told my parents. Only my sisters and cousins.
Never knew what it was but it freaked me out. I didn’t go down to that spot again nor would I travel alone anymore.
Intelligent-Invite79@reddit
Couple of things that come to mind. As a teenager, my buddies and I used to cruise around town looking at creepy spots. We came across a small cemetery and I kid you not, blue orbs. I thought they were lightning bugs, but they stayed lit for too long, about the size of a golf ball, blueish white light. As they got closer to headstones or a mausoleum they didn’t actually give off light that reflected on the actual stone. No fear, just awe, it still sounds crazy.
Two, the morning my dad died I was speeding my wife, my mama and I over to the hospital. My older brother was with him and he called and said he was about to pass. I was trying to get there in time, I looked over a few minutes into the drive and my gf was silently crying. At the same time I noticed, my mama simply said “he’s gone” and my wife let out a sob. I told my mom to hang on, that we’d get there and she said “ he’s gone, It’s okay”. When we got there we found out that sure enough, he’d passed while we were in route, I held my gf as she was still shaken and she was super close with my pops. She told me “ right before your mom said he’d passed, the entire truck filled with the scent of your dads aftershave”. He used to wear old spice, I like to think he was stopping in to say goodbye to us.

Same here. Unexplainable has happened while alone and with others who see the same thing, indoors, outdoors, with different people in varying locations.
Main thing I've found crucial to avoid unwanted interaction is to not be fearful, assert authority over your self and your domain, and ask for help from any spiritual figure or concept familiar to you, regardless of adherence to a belief system ("the light," angels, positive guides, Jesus, etc).
Idk what "it" is but "it" is real.

I will often do what you say if I start to get a creepy feeling. I tell myself that I'm a human, that we have conquered and murdered every creature on this planet, that other creatures fear us, and also say that I believe in God/higher power.
Not sure if it actually does anything but if makes me feel like it does.
Bandando@reddit
I’m starting to believe it’s less about asserting authority and more about showing compassion. But I haven’t had negative encounters to speak of; just positive ones. Those positive ones leave me with the impression that compassion is the way to go, though, if I start feeling scared or dicey.

In summer 2002 or 2003 outside my place in a midwest town of 90k at the time, I'm having a smoke and toke and looking in the sky through the ash trees I noticed the wind and every noise completely stopped for about 3-4 minutes as this vessel shaped like a triangle inched it's way passed over me. Could see the construction of steel looking material and a few lights at the corners but dim. This thing was quite large. It left me dumb for a few days. Talked with a few other folks the following weeks and others had seen it and described exactly as I witnessed it.

Around 2002 or so mu father called me up to ask for a ride to his office from white plains New York because the rental car he had broke down. Long story Short I drove over to give him the ride and then headed home (north on interstate). As I was approaching the bridge over the Hudson river the traffic built up as per usual and then stopped. Out of boredom I started looking around and noticed something high in the sky not moving around just hanging out. Round shape, not moving about just hanging in the same spot basically the whole time. I did a double take and it was still there. I looked to the cars around me and at least one other driver was plainly looking at it. I am a firm believer that there is definitely life in the universe besides us I just also never really thought that if life were advanced enough to get to earth that we'd be of any interest. While I see a lot of people have stories of seeing similar things I know this isn't that unique of an experience but what I did find strange was if you go looking for reports of unidentified objects for my area there is no report of anyone seeing anything or reporting it despite being in one of the most populated places in the United States even though I'm sure I'm not the only one to have seen this happen.

I was forced off of a road that was under construction. Someone was in the lane I was supposed to be in, but they were turning left. It was dark so it was difficult to tell where I was.
There was massive machinery in the road and the road essentially split. There was the side where traffic was supposed to go, and there was the side that was completely under construction.
Confused, I took the wrong path and basically launched my car down a 2-3' drop and got stuck next to one of the machines because I had nowhere to go.
My buddy and I got out of the car and some random person approached us. He managed to help us out of the situation and we were back on the road.
The dude disappeared and after we thought about it, neither of us could decide where he came from.
Our initial thoughts were maybe it was the person that cut us off that helped us back on the road but the whole situation was so odd and confusing.

In my 20’s I was working the night-shift at a church, basically just had to make sure everything had been done and the place was locked up for the night and that no-one had snuck in to stay for the night. Pretty spooky to begin with but I was used to it. I was checking the day-care area when one of the TV’s turned itself on. Startled and confused, my first thought was someone was in there with the remote and messing with me until I saw the remote sitting on top of the TV. Okay, thats… weird. I went to turn the TV off and half-way across the room, it turned itself off. Okay, I’m rattled now. I did a quick check of the rest of the rooms, nobody there. Having had enough, I got the fuck out of the building via the bridge that connected this very old building to the more recently built church. The Sanctuary was at the far end of the bridge and as I got near it I heard a cacophony of creaking wood as if the room was full of people dancing on the pews. The sound continued when I peeked in but nobody was in there. I’m now pants-shittingly terrified, running out of the building. I never clocked out and never went back to that job. Called and quit the next day with a BS excuse that “it just wasn’t for me.”

My sibling and I grew up sharing a bedroom. On her side, one wall featured a large poster of River Phoenix as well as other smaller photos of him cut from magazines and newspapers, etc. Not exactly a shrine to the actor but his image definitely featured very prominently on that wall / that side of the room.
My memory of this is a little hazy — I don’t remember if my sib became infatuated with him before or after his passing. All I do know is that soon after his death a very heavy, sweet and sickly odour permeated our room one day — and lingered until the poster and magazine photos were taken off that wall. Before that, we cleaned everywhere and searched everything, trying to identify and locate the source of the smell, thinking it was maybe a dead rodent or an insect infestation. The odour vanished the day the posters and pictures were taken down. We never again smelled anything like it in that old bedroom of ours, which we continued to share until I moved out at 19.

Yes. During the lockdowns. A friend and I, both in our 40s, took an evening walk to a purportedly haunted graveyard in his neighborhood. As we were leaving he yelled “what the fuck is that!?”
A black shape, and I mean a thick mass about 4-5 feet in height moved across the cemetery. This was only about 15 feet away from us. I don’t mean a shadow. It was well defined as if someone wearing a cloak and so dark it cut through the moonlight, moving very quickly as if running hunched over until it shrank and disappeared before our eyes. It really freaked my buddy out, but I was fascinated.

My kids would play in the grave yard by my house during the pandemic. One day, there was a new grave where a woman had just been buried. My kids played around the fresh grave. Yes. I'm assuming cannabis induced, however I was a smoker for years prior and still am loving cannabis and haven't ever experienced this again.
So this was over a decade ago. I owned a nice cannabis business and we just learned how to make Moroccan Hash.. well we smoked that stuff to test it out and you know for funsies. Ended up going to sleep at like 5pm directly after dinner because we had smoked the best hash ever all day.
We woke up around 3am in our home and stumbled to the living room to chill. We ended up making a snack and arguing out of no where. I ended up saying something like dude why the fuck are you mad? Why am I mad? We laughed and said must have woken up in a bad mood said sorry for the attitude etc but then the light just turned off. I go to flip the breaker outside and as I am putting my hand on the door knob, it starts violently shaking. I call to my husband to call the cops because someone must be breaking in. I held onto the door tight as I can and locked it then ran over to the sliding glass door to make sure it was locked. I'm going to lock it and that starts shaking like crazy too. It's a glass door and at this point I realized nobody was there.
I yell at my husband to get over here because i don't believe in ghosts so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. He sees nothing too.
I let my guard dog out of the bedroom where I sleep and he sleeps and he's barking at nothing, but to him it was something..he was locking eyes with something about 7 feet tall and practically foaming with anger. I try to calm him by using the code word saying nothing is there. I'm scared so I don't touch him but I notice the kitchen fan is shaking too above where the dogs barking.
My husband is checking all the outside at this point, and there is no sign of anyone here. This all happened in five minutes and I thought it must be an earth quake but my husband yelling that this is some paranormal stuff and told me to look stuff up.
So I'm just scared on my phone looking on forums of ghost things. And I did what it said. At the last window/door I am rubbing my damn spit on the top and sides and saying this is my house you can't be here like some bat shit crazy person but as I said the last word with the last door it stopped right away.
Oh and get this...One other time, we were smoking and I blew out my toke.....my smoke stopped like it hit a person. I could see the head and top of shoulders, I got scared because of what happened before and I ran into my bedroom, but as I was running a large solid wood didgeridoo leaning against a wall got chucked at my head...missed me as I ran into the bedroom but left a dent on the wall as well as causing a paint scar on the didge. At this house I also heard my name being called in my husband voice, telling me to come outside. I went outside and the door would lock. I would call my husband and ask when he got home and where he was other times and he would just be worried. So I of course went to a psychiatrist to make sense of this.
We moved from that house, and I have never heard of seen anything out of the ordinary ever since.
Maybe it was cannabis induced psychosis? That's my only explanation but it's a poor excuse as I never stopped ingesting or smoking cannabis, and still never experienced anything like at that house.
My rational mind and educational background tells me this was drug induced psychosis, but there is a very small part of me that wonders if that house was haunted.

Was in Duluth, MN for trade fair several years back and the tv and bathroom light in the hotel I stayed at would turn on in the middle of the night. The first night while strange, I didn’t think much of it and thought perhaps I didn’t turn them off even though I need a dark and quiet room to sleep in. The second night the same thing occurred when I knew everything was off before going to sleep and the tv remote was on the night stand. my cousin and I were celebrating our birthdays together one year and we were just standing out in the driveway talking that night after all of the birthday festivities had died down and we saw over the trees behind my house what looked to be a small airplane on fire. Same size, moving over the trees and slowly descending
He got his cell phone out and was ready to call 911 when the "fire" slowly started to dim and the object went from being plane shaped to being a floating orange ball of light which moved to the front of our property out by the street, over the neighbors houses and then hung in the air for about 40 minutes before it slowly lost its color and vanished into darkness
Still weirds me out to think about it

When I still lived at home I had a vivid lucid dream early in the morning of my family and I walking out on the front porch looking up watching rain fall even though it was a clear blue sky. A short time later I was awoken by a loud bang, we all went outside to see what it was, the transformer on the power pole in front of our house exploded and caught fire. The fire brigade arrived, the spray from their fire hose was landing in front of our porch, we were all looking up at it "raining" despite the clear blue sky. Prob just a coincidence, but still a very bloody specific one that I never forgot.

No. Im not quite 40. But no. At the time sure, but the more I learned about the world, the mind. Etc. it’s explainable.
Used to think i saw ghosts. But an emotionally and mentally abusive home had my anxiety so damn high i saw shit and had waking nightmares from lack of sleep.
Thought i saw a UFO once and then learned that perspective is basically impossible to judge when you only have free floating objects and no idea what you’re actually looking at.
That’s about it really.

I used to live in a log cabin where the original owner who built it died. (I’m assuming by suicide from the giant stain on the wood above the shower) On Halloween, a big storm hit and when I got home the power went out. I was changing out of my costume when the Tupperware containers on the shelves in our closet started moving forward and falling on me, and when I left the closet, two heavy wooden cabinet doors that were propped up against the wall decided to tip over and fall on the back of my legs. These were hard to move and leaning the other way. It’s impossible for them just to have tipped over. So here am trying to get out of my costume and blood all over my legs and a house that’s trying to kill me. (I don’t think it was an earthquake, because the Tupperware containers falling on my head continued until I moved out.

The first house I owned gave my wife a creepy vibe. Neither of us are really paranormal believers. I mean I like the stories and all, but I see them just as that,.. stories.
Anyways,.. she said that she always felt like someone was lurking in the bathroom when she was in there. I thought that was odd. I never felt that.
One night several weeks later, I was coming up from our basement at night and out of nowhere I had a very strange feeling like someone was staring at me from the darkest corner of the split level staircase. It gave me a huge chill and I stared at it. Then I felt extremely silly about it and thought it was stupid, so I started up the stairs but then I stopped and turned again. The feeling felt stronger. Now instead of feeling stupid or silly, I was annoyed. I was almost angry. All I could think of was “what if” there was some kind of ghost or spirit in my house making my wife feel nervous and now it’s gonna start making me look over my shoulder? Fuck that noise. Without a second thought I sternly started talking out loud in the stairwell. “Listen up, this isn’t your house. This is my house. I bought it. I live here. If you want to stay here you better start conjuring up some rent money, otherwise you need to get the hell out.”
Maybe it was the tone of my voice or the complete absurdity of the situation, or a combo of the both, but I felt better. After that, I went to bed and didn’t think a thing of it. I also didn’t say anything about it to anyone because it was weird as fuck. 😆
Well fast forward a few weeks and in passing my wife tells me that she hasn’t felt weird in the bathroom for “a bit”. I asked her how long? She said “actually not for about two weeks”
I then told her everything that I typed here and we had an odd laugh about it. I too never felt like someone was watching me from the corner of the basement room.
I like to think that in the off-chance that ghosts and haunting’s are real, and that we had one, that I successfully evicted it.
WitchesDew@reddit
Is it possible that an actual person was hanging around? Like the people found living in attics and closets, etc.

Not that house. It was a small split level. Also a real fixer upper so I was all over every part of it, crawl spaces and everything.

Another detail of the story is that the original owners husband died suddenly of a heart attack in the bathroom. Happened on Halloween while his kids and wife were out trick or treating.
My theory is it was his soul still hanging on to the house.
(Given, of course, that it was a ghost.)

We were packing for a long anticipated trip to Mexico. My wife said "We shouldn't go, I feel my mothers's heart breaking". I asked her if she thought we were going to die in a plane crash. "No". Was her mother going to die? "No". We went anyway, got to the resort about 5:00PM, we were tired so got something to eat and went to bed early. Our phone rings at 6:00AM, with news that my (relatively healthy, we thought) father inlaw had passed away. My father was in the hospital, in bad condition with pneumonia, so not totally unexpected, but one night my wife bolted up in bed as if she couldn't breathe. She said "Your father just passed". The phone rang five minutes later. My father had just passed. When my mother was in the hospital near the end, we got called back to the hospital by a doctor who said the end was near. My wife said it wasn't the time yet. We went back to the hospital and stayed there all night. My mother didn't pass. A few weeks later, my wife, out of the blue said "Your mother just passed". The phone rang ten minutes later. Yep.

We were so spooked, I remember not stopping at a stop sign and me being scared to look behind us.
My dad called the police when we got home and reported it. We made sure to keep on the look out for it whenever driving in that area, but never saw it again. A couple times there was a drawing where they'd pull your name or number of a box or big bowl or whatever and once I just got his by this feeling and I knew I won and another time I just got hit by this feeling new I was about to be picked to go next and I started walking up each time before the hand was in to start picking a paper slip out. I was half way there each time by the time they read out my number/name. Those are the only two times I was ever hit by a feeling like that for any such drawing.
Once I was watching a baseball game and all of a sudden yelled out OMG he's going to hit a home run! And the next pitch it was out of the park and then a few innings later the same thing for a different hitter.
Back in college my mom hadn't seen my dad for months (and I think only a few times before ever) and then she was walking across campus and all of a sudden got hit by this feeling and knew he was about to call and she ran back to the dorm and 10 minutes later he called for the first time, out of the blue. No sort of mutual friend talk or anything, no hints, nothing ahead of time.
Etc.

I was probably around 8 years old when I came running into the house to go to the bathroom which was upstairs in our century home. As soon as I turned the corner onto the stairs and looked up I saw the figure of a woman in a white flowy dress holding a baby in a white christening gown and holding the hand of a little boy in a sailor suit standing at the top of the landing. I had this intense urge to pray as I looked in the little boys eyes. I’m now really religious but you bet I immediately got on my knees on those stairs and prayed. When I looked up again, they are gone and I felt at peace.
I never forgot what happened but was shocked when a year later my parents were renovating our kitchen and there was evidence of a fire in the corner of the room - right below the landing where I saw them.
I personally feel like I helped them all move on that day.

I saw a burning orb UFO. This was maybe 6 years ago.
Clear November night, event lasted maybe 1.5 minutes. I watched it travel in a straight line towards my location above my little town, then it stopped and hovered in place for about 15 seconds. I had binoculars handy on the back porch and watched it up close.
It started to quickly spiral upwards in a lazy loop getting smaller and smaller. About a minute later, 2 F18's from the local Navy base flew by low and fast.
Before it zipped upwards, the orb was maybe .5 miles away from me, maybe 600' up above a body of water. From what I could see through the binoculars, it looked like an 15' diamter orb wreathed in rippling digitized plasma flame.
Seeing one in real life was exhilarating, scary and awe inspiring all at once.

At 17 (90s) I was driving to a friends house at night. I had to stop at the families cabin to tell my Dad something.
I walked up on the little patio and the door was locked because he was at a cabin further up the lake. Got the key from the hiding spot, went inside and read his note. Came outside and saw a flash in the trees to my left. Like a film camera flash. It was dark, no lights, generator was off.
It was such a quick thing I figured it was lightening, which is kinda rare there, began to walk back out the trail, about a ten minute walk to the road. Quiet clear night, snow, stars.
Dunno why but I got maybe 50 feet from the steps and looked back. Some guy was standing on the steps. Figured it was Dad and started giving him the message. He didn't say a word. Dad? Dad? I said, no answer.
I got freaked out because I couldn't tell who it was so I said "If you're fucking with me give it up." Nothing back. I could tell anything, just a regular person shape. Not some skinny stupid movie deamon looking thing, just a person.
I bolted. I was a fast runner. I looked back 2 times as I ran and this guy was running behind me but never catching up. I made it down the hill to the car jumped in and I hit the gas so hard Rock flew and the car kind bounced and squealed tires while the rear shook. This guy just stood at the top of that little hill looking down.
It was not my Dad. He never admitted to it. I know it wasn't him because he would have lost his shit at how that cat was treated when I drove off and then about me swearing.
So, dunno, maybe a freak person, but, this was the tiniest community in Eastern Canada, nothing like that ever happened (murders, crazies, kidnapping etc.)
I've always thought about that night, especially since I just couldn't make him out, just a dark figure. All I know is it felt really bad/scary, for sure the most scared of something I ever felt and I'm glad he didn't catch up, I've always thought he could have though, if it wanted.

There seemed to be faces looking out of it. We both stopped, petrified, and all the hairs went up all over my body. It’s a main route but in Scotland. There were no trains at that time of night/morning. I saw the ghost of the former owner to my first car.
He had been sick for awhile and while he was alive the car was his baby (87 BMW) but after he passed after a years long battle with cancer his wife had no use for the vehicle and I needed a car for college. We bought it and I had only had it for maybe... 3 months, when one day I went outside to sit in the Alabama heat in 107 degree heat index weather in my car. I wasn't going to do anything besides rev the engine and sit in the driveway because at that point I only had my permit. Anyway, so I go out there and get in the car, I'm out there maybe 1#5-20 minutes and keep in mind I live by a cow pasture. I see someone out of the corner of my eye, wearing tan coveralls (think mechanic) and sporting a mullet, they walk up on the other side of the fence and I watch them, it looks like they're about to turn and put their arms on the fencepost and talk to me, so I turned to give them my full attention but when I fully look up, there's nobody there.
At first, I just think, "Okay I've been out in the heat too long my eyes are playing tricks on me." and if it had been just that one time, I could chalk it up to that, but nope. Not five minutes later the SAME DAMN THING HAPPENS, keep in mind I am not spiritually sensitive, like at all, so seeing something like this was jarring. After the second time, I turn off the car and BOOK IT inside the house and tell my Mom what happened and assure her that I don't just see things, like ever. She asks me to describe what the person looked like and I tell her it was a male, wearing coveralls and sporting a mullet and she was like, "That sounds like the former owner." And I'm like "Well fuck."
A week and a half later we end up taking the car to school and want to swing by the BMW dealership to get the radio re-coded (I want to say because it had to have a battery replaced.), upon inspection the BMW dealer said, "You got lucky with this card the fuel line has been crushed and is leaking onto a live electrical wire. You two could have gone up at any moment."
Talk about a warning from beyond. 😳

So the absolute humdinger I have is I'm a dialectic thinker which means I am almost always thinking in terms of dialogue, I do this so naturally that I modify my voice as I speak each part. One night I take a gummy and I have learned that this seems to make me a receiver and tonight I receive the message that had been sent from ages ago from a civilization that figured out technology before us, how long ago I don't know, they explain that our civilization is approaching a point where long dormant volcanism will transform the world and dissolve our civilization in so much acid that barely anything would be left at this same time a period of hyper-evolution and solar activity would occur. As this long ago project of the past was setup to do was identify candidates able to receive a signal and then educate them to understand the full complexity of the message, namely that our planet revels in mass extinction and that we are the most effective tool of mass extinction to ever come into existence. Our inflection point on this world is about to reach its zenith and then the planet will be returned to a more stable configuration so has it been, so will it be again.
I know when it's me talking with myself and when I'm talking to something else, being a medium isn't easy especially with the ghosts of long lost civilizations.

Yellowish orange light orb UFO , completely silent but very bright.
Noticed it while I was outside letting the dog do it's business around 11 in the evening before bed.
Saw it from a ways a way and at first thought it might be the cops doing a field search in helicopter for weed as they had done that a few nights prior.
As I lived outside town in a rural area farmers fields were popular places to grow weed without being discovered.
I had my headphones in so I didn't think much of it and turned my attention back to my dog.
A few minutes later I noticed it again and it had now gotten closer , I took out my ear bud to listen for some sort of aircraft noise and heard absolute silence.
Everything was still , no wind , no birds ,no summer crickets and other various noises just a still silence.
It started slowly moving in my direction that's when I repeatedly called my dog and her and I noped inside as fast as we could.
I have no idea what I saw but it's honestly one of the scariest moments I've ever had..

THE SAME FUCKING THING HAPPENED TO ME! 😱
When I was probably, like, 12 or 13, I lived in an apartment where a ton of weird shit happened. And one day, I was home alone (latchkey kid 🙃) and was walking through the living room when suddenly, the knob on the door that opened into the shared hallway started violently shaking, like they were “frantically trying to open it”. There’s literal no better way to describe it. And I just froze and stared unblinkingly at it for, like you said, probably about 10 seconds. Long enough to know damn well I’m not just seeing things. And as soon as it stopped, I stayed frozen for a moment, not even breathing, listening to hear any footsteps running away or doors closing… Nothing. So, I RAN to the door and threw it open, thinking there HAD to be someone on the other side and I wanted to catch them before they disappeared into one of the apartments. (I also had friends on the lower floors, so I thought it might be a prank.) But, the hallway was completely empty and silent. It was a 3 story building and I was on the 3rd floor. If it was someone from my floor, I definitely would’ve heard a door close. And if they were from the second or third floors, they definitely would’ve still been going down the stairs by the time I opened my door and I would’ve heard them. There really was just no one there. I’ve never been able to explain it, but it was the most tangible experience I’ve had.
I have a few runners up, though! All in the same apartment.
I woke up in the middle of the night once and had to go to the bathroom, which was off of the kitchen. In the kitchen, we had a few stacks of plastic cups sitting on a shelf. While I was in the bathroom, I heard what sounded like those cups falling and bouncing all over the floor. It’s a very distinctive sound, right? I then heard my mom yell from her room, which was also off of the kitchen on the other side, “Whoever’s out there, go to bed!” When I left the bathroom, I fully expected to see cups all over the place…but everything was untouched. But, my mom had heard it, too, so I knew it wasn’t just in my head.
I had brought home a little fiber optic lamp from school one day and showed my mom and brother. I remember being in the living room and we were sitting on the floor around it. We were sitting next to an arched floor lamp with a broken shade that my mom had jerry rigged to stay in place. It was pretty much stuck in that one position unless forced out of place. And at one point, while my mom and brother were busy looking at the fiber optic lamp, I happened to glance up and at that exact moment, the shade quickly jerked to the side and stuck in that position. I remember being exasperated that I had been the only one to see it and that no one else seemed to care.
I had a bunch of beaded necklaces that I hung on my wall. But, I halfass everything in life, so I actually just hung them on the switch plate of my light. Literally just balanced on the switch plate for some dumb reason. Just breathing on them the wrong way would make them fall off. Then, one night while I was in bed, I heard them violently shaking. I couldn’t actually see them, because my bookcase was blocking my view, but I heard them loud and clear and unmistakable. That also lasted around 10 seconds. I remember being confused in those 10 seconds, because there’s no way those necklaces could shake like that without ending up on the floor. And when it stopped, I went to check them and they were perfectly in place, balanced on the switch plate.

About 10 years ago I was at a conference at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, which is generally considered to be haunted. I was supposed to be hosting a coffee break discussion, but due to some miscommunication the hotel staff had set me up on a completely different floor from what was listed in the events calendar, far away from the rest of the goings on. For about 20 minutes I sat alone among the carts of coffee and bagels and such, waiting for the conference coordinator to return with instructions of where to relocate. Suddenly, a spreading knife that had been stuck into a mound of cream cheese fell onto the floor--except, it didn't slowly tip over and slide out, it popped up into the air and arced to the ground. I saw it happen directly in front of me.
Eventually the coordinator came back with an update on where to go. A food service staff member was with her, to wheel the coffee carts to the new location. He saw the cream cheese knife on the floor where it had fallen, and as he bent to pick it up I told him I had witnessed it shooting out of the cream cheese, with force, all by itself. His very matter-of-fact reply: "If I told you half the things I've seen in this hotel, you'd never believe me."

When I stayed on the 34th floor of the hard rock hotel in Chicago when it was around in 2017 my room was art deco and the night I arrived I took a shower and when I came out the room was freezing and I checked the thermostat and it was down to 40 even though it was set at 68, I distinctly felt as though my room was haunted for the next 4 nights.

When I was a teen I looked up in the sky and saw a very distant silver object that had no glare or shine from the sun. I looked like an upside down diamond 💎 with a flat blunted top. It moved from one end of the visible horizon in to the other in seconds and rapidly changed elevation before speeding off from view. My brother and three other guys in our group saw it too. This was at the end of the 90s, we were high schoolers.

I’ve never seen something but I’ve felt/experienced a lot and have been the thing people can’t explain.
I’ve had claircognizant experiences since I was 8. And over the years I’ve tried to tell myself it’s not real and I’m just more mentally ill than I realize or everything is just a coincidence etc. When I’m in a heavy doubt phase, big shit happens
A lot of people have offered to explain to me why none of it’s real. After a knowing me for a while, three of them told me that they’ve experienced enough weird shit with me that they can no longer say various things like being psychic or past lives aren’t real. One was such a hard core atheist/non-believer that he was part of the Skeptics Society and no longer is.
Another worked as the assistant to a medium for a while and hated this stuff so much that when we met he would freak out and cut me off if I as much as mentioned the word “tarot”. Then we started dreaming about each other on the same nights, and feeling when the other person was in trouble and discovering things that were too strange to be a coincidence. After a few years he admitted to me that I made him believe, and that he felt things he couldn’t explain within the first 5 minutes of us meeting. My connection with him was probably the most magical experience I’ve ever had.
All of my premonitions have come true so far except one but I guess it still might (though I’m highly, highly skeptical of that).

About 30 years ago, I was riding home with a coworker. We were sitting at a red light at the end of an off ramp, and we both saw a green orb in the sky, almost directly in front of us. We both looked at each other, verified that the other had seen it, and agreed to tell no one about it.
A couple of days later, I told my wife about it. She got all excited, and told me I had to tell her nephew - he had seen it as well (he was at the MIL’s house, a mile or so away) and told everyone there, but none of the adults believed him! When I took him aside and told him, I had to convince him I wasn’t just making fun of him. (Poor little guy.)

I also saw a green light in the sky while passing an intersection in the evening. I always assumed it was something to do with the green traffic lights on the opposite intersection and my eyes fucking with me, but I have to admit it was a pretty weird thing to see and didn't really explain what I saw. Very very fast moving green light.

I use to play pranks on my ex all the time. At the time only me, my ex and my dog were the ones living in this house. I no longer live there but my parents did eventually moved into this house so it is still in the family.
Anyways back to the story. So one day I was in the garage working on my car. I left the back kitchen door open and had the dog with me. My ex came home via the front entrance. She normally leaves the door open when she takes off her shoes. it’s a small entrance so the door hits the wall and I would typically hide in that triangle space behind the door and scare her when she comes home. As always she called out for me that she was home. She then walked to the living room / kitchen looking for the dog.
She then heard the voice of a young boy say “i see you…I know what you’re doing”. At this point she figured out I was doing a prank…but I don’t do voices or say anything I just go ‘boo’ or reach out to her… so it was kind of weird.
So she walks to the front entrance and closes the door expecting me to be there hiding. Obviously I am not since I’m with the dog in the garage. My ex freaks out and starts yelling my name so loud I could hear her.
So I come into the kitchen and say “hey stop freaking out I can here you from outside!” And at this point she is hesteical once she sees me and grabs me to go to the back yard. She quickly tells me what happens so I kind of laugh it off. I open the door and my dog run into the house. Normally he jumps on the couch. This time he sits right at the threshold between the kitchen and living room. He won’t budge even when I tell him the command to sit on the couch.
We end up leaving the house via the back kitchen entrance cuz I’m little freaked out to and we drive her car to get away from the house.

Living in San Diego, California (USA) (2001-2012) there would be these infrequent "wub-booooom" or "whuump" thump sounds. Heard clear across the county, and nobody ever has said anything about their origins. News didn't care, press didn't care, didn't even want to try asking a Pendleton/Miramar/32nd Street/Coronado PIO. And yes, these were outside of announced Camp Pendleton training, and I heard them on different occasions from Oceanside to Point Loma.

I work in memory care. Years ago, I was coming in to do an early am med pass for one of my residents. She had come to us on hospice a few years before and managed to graduate off hospice during her first year with us.
You wouldn't recognize her if you'd only seen her when she first came to us. She had put on weight and muscle tone, could walk with a walker, and was very chatty. She was everyone's favorite resident. Her health was probably the best it had been in years.
I happened to mention that I was leaving early that day so I could go on vacation, but would be back in a couple of weeks. She told me it was a shame she wouldn't see me again, since her parents were sending her tickets to go see them on the 9:20 train on Saturday.
I took her vitals, and they were pretty damn good for someone in her 90s. I let the unit manager 6 they could keep an eye on her just in case she was in the early stages of something. She was fine the rest of the week.
On Saturday morning, she took her early meds like normal, but said she needed to get a little more sleep before she left on the train. Someone tried to get her up around 9:15 but she refused. The nurse came back to check on her about 9:30, and she was gone. She just slipped away peacefully.
I've had other residents tell me they had train/bus/plane tickets to see long dead loved ones, but if they weren't already on hospice, they were on our radar. I've never had anyone else call their own time of death so perfectly either.

I was 28- newly married with a puppy. Halloween night my husband and I watched the exorcist and went to bed around midnight. At 330 AM our puppy starts shrieking and barking like crazy. We rush out to the front room and it’s cold and she’s barking at our the door to the deck.
We turn on every light, search the deck (we were on the 4th floor) and nothing. We notice how cold it is and the AC somehow was down to 66. It was October- not even in summer so we put it that cold.

Yes. I absolutely did and till this day I have no fucking idea what I saw. Mind you I’m an atheist and a skeptic, but I still haven’t found any way to explain this shit. I was camping with some friends and my dad when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I was laying in my sleeping bag talking to one of my friends when he fell asleep. Anyways I looked up and I saw six lights in a circular hex pattern equally spaced from one another and a seventh light jn the center. They were all equally as bright and brighter than the stars In the sky. They were all as solid white as you can get. They weren’t moving. They weren’t doing anything. It was like they were stuck there. Anyways my dad came over and asked me what I was doing still awake and said that everyone else was asleep. When I looked back up, they were gone. I drew it in my sketch book and that’s why I remember it to this day. I’m 43 now so this was like in 1994 or 1995.

When I was at secondary school, around 1997/1998, I looked up at the sky and saw an airliner casually making its way overhead.
A few seconds later, it was overtaken by an object, like really overtaken.
The object that overtook it didn't look like a plane and didn't have any con-trails either.
Then, a second object appeared and did the same.
Where it got even weirder was, a minute or so later, three or four Tornado Fighters screamed overhead, followed by several Chinooks.

In college I lived on the road which connected the revolutionary war battlefield to the courthouse. There was a lot of history. I would occasionally hear bumps and unexplainable sounds I just blamed on the old house.
One time I woke up in the middle of the night to something tickling my foot. I gently kicked it figuring it was my girlfriend. It continued so I sat up. Girlfriend was fast asleep.
I looked at my bedroom door and it was open. This was during the summer, my roommates had all went home. I got up, opened the door the rest of the way, looked at the front door, it was locked. Looked at the basement door and it was wide open. We always kept this door shut and locked because there was nothing down there.
I walked down the hallway to close and lock the door. I turned around and there was a girl floating outside my bedroom door. She was visible from the knees up. I can still remember the dress, her hair, her face. The luminescent color.
I walked past her and she followed me with her eyes by turning her head. I went into my room and closed the door. At no point did I feel scared. She was very calming and felt like someone I knew. I never saw her appear in that form again. At the time I thought I was dreaming so I didn’t say anything about it.
Continue weird events, noises and doors, for another two years until I moved into the small house in the backyard. That’s when it got strange. As soon as I got the keys and walked into the house I got that same feeling as the day I saw her. It never went away, she was there.
During my time there she made herself much more noticeable. Nothing destructive but you couldn’t deny her presence. She would throw books. Knock stuff off of my coffee table. Roll items across the floor. Knocked over a lamp and then picked it back up. Slammed two doors.
One day I heard crying coming from my closet. I went to open the door and couldn’t pull it open. The knob worked. I thought it was hung up from the inside so I yanked. Yanked. Yanked. The door opened slightly and it immediately snapped shut. Weird. I yanked again, it opened a little more and snapped shut. This continued a few times. Each yank the door opened slightly more before snapping shut.
My buddy heard the commotion and walked into my room. From where he was standing he could see into the closet when the door opened. I looked at him and he was as white as a sheet of paper. I said “What’s going on?!?!”
The next thing I know the door slams shut and I hear a bang and rolling noise. The door opens slightly on its own. I pulled it the rest of the way open and the knob from the inside of the door was on the floor and rolling around in circles.
I asked my friend what he saw and he said he didn’t want to talk about it. Now he says he doesn’t remember being there.
At no point did she scare me. She was just… there.
A few months later I brought it up to the girl I was now dating. Apparently when she stayed at my house by herself interior doors would open and shut and stuff would move. The weirdest one was when the books were taken off of a bookshelf and stacked in front of the bedroom door - all of the books on the 3rd shelf were removed except a Bible.
After hearing this I called the girl I was dating when I saw the ghost and asked some non-leading questions. Turns out when she was at the house by herself, interior doors would open/close and stuff would wind up stacked in front of the bedroom door.
I graduated that spring and I moved out of that house. Part of me wants to research it and see if I can find pictures of previous tenants because I could pick the girl out.

Anytime something like this comes up I tell people that I don’t believe in ghost, but with that being said our house is haunted. We continually hear walking around up stairs and sometimes doors opening and closing. We have our 3 kids bedrooms and our master upstairs. My wife and I will typically stay up late after getting the kids down as it’s about the only time we get just the 2 of us. Probably once a week, we’ll hear someone walking around up there or a door opening/closing. We’ll think, oh man, which one of the mosters are up, go up to check and nothing, all 3 asleep in their beds. We had a couple of cameras up there we used as monitors when the kids were younger and would never find any video evidence. We’ve been in the house for almost 6yrs now and usually don’t even go up to check anymore unless it sounds like something got knocked over or a door opened or shut, usually one of us just jokes about wondering what the ghosts are up to tonight and we go back to whatever we were doing.
We’ve had a couple of times with both our daughters, when they were around 3yrs old chatting with someone who we can’t see. They both play a lot of pretend, so when we’ll ask them who they are talking too it’s a friend from school or a teacher, but there have been several times when they’ve said I’m talking to him and pointed to a random spot in the room. We’ll ask is someone there and they’d say yeah and seem perplexed that we can’t see them. We’ve asked them to describe them and sometimes get a little detail. It’s been a guy with longer hair a couple of times.
My wife’s office is directly below our master, and she hears something walking around in our bedroom probably a couple of times a week during the day. This is when me and the kids are out and the only ones home are her and the dog. The dog usually sleeps in her office and will occasionally look up and cock his head at the noise, but he usually just ignores it too. It kinda freaked us out a first, but now is just normal.
Still don’t know if I believe in ghosts, but my house is definitely haunted.

When I was in college I lived in a row house apartment. I 100% believe it was haunted. Whenever I washed the dishes in my kitchen I sensed something standing behind me and even felt like someone was touching the top of my head. When I went to bed I could hear foot steps pacing back and forth in the hallway. Also heard what sounded like someone moving a pile of papers.
One night I entered my kitchen and saw a dark shadow almost black move up from the back of the stove. Up to the ceiling, moved to the right and down behind the cabinet.
For the next few minutes, I tried to debunk what I saw and I couldn’t . There were no windows to interfere and any object that I put on the ceiling light could not replicate that shadow. So guess I witnessed a ghost?

These both happened at night while I was asleep, so it's entirely possible they were dreams, but I've never had trouble separating dreams from reality, so I've never been sure -
Once, I woke up to what seemed like car headlights streaming into my bedroom, but they "searched" around my room like they were looking for something. They moved very unlike car headlights, more like how a helicopter spotlight would move, but very quickly and almost with an intelligence behind the movement. However, I could not hear aircraft in the air and my room faced a lake so no car headlights could have shown into my room. The spotlight never landed on me in my bed. I remember feeling grateful for that.
The second time I woke up to the TV in my room absolutely BLARING full volume with white static. To my knowledge I hadn't turned it on or fell asleep with it on. The TV just turned on to static by itself. I couldn't get the TV to turn off with my remote or with the buttons on the TV either. I eventually had to pull the plug to get it to shut off.

Well as soon as I thought that, a huge gust of wind whips through the trees, strong enough to almost break limbs. Then suddenly stops. And no wind again that night.
It always struck me that I was looking for "a sign" and something happened, but in the end I know it's all bullshit. I lived in a windy place, an actual gorge that is known for gusts. And I was in such a vulnerable place. Sometimes our brains need something and we will make something out of nothing.

I don’t think I was close to where anyone lived I saw a woman dressed all in white, like a wedding dress with a veil, walking alone up there. It freaked me out. I’m not claiming it was a ghost, but it was super freaking weird.

I work in movie production in Atlanta. Two years ago we were out in the sticks filming at an old plantation in rural GA. One of the guys brought his dog and the dog refused to go into the house. Like bearing teeth and barking at the steps to the porch refusing to go into the house. At one point we were shooting a scene at the front door and I was 2/3 up the stairs in the house keeping out of the shot and I heard a blood curling scream. Not long after it was “cut” then “moving on” (meaning move onto the next shot). I was all “that was good for sound?” Sound guys were like”yeah” I’m lighting so I shrugged like whatever not my department not my problem. I was telling some other crew about it while setting up the lighting for the following shot and a set dresser said “that’s Celia.” I thought he was fucking with me but the next morning coming down the elevator at the hotel we were staying at I was riding with one of the cleaning ladies and she asked me if I was working at “that old haunted plantation” and that she’s heard stories since she was a girl. There was another night there walking back to my car in crew parking through a wooded area in the pitch black of night (we were so far out we could see the Milky Way with our eyes when our lights went out that’s how dark). And there was this energy I can’t fully describe while walking through I kept feeling like I was being followed and they didn’t want me there even though I know I was alone. It’s an old plantation in rural GA and I’m white. Like I get why any entity there would be big pissed. I do. Before that week I really didn’t believe in that kind of shit. Now I’m willing to have an open conversation.

Two incidents, I also posted in r/paranormal about it (or maybe r/ghosts) anyway.
When I was 14, I woke up to feeling the presence of someone in my room. I turned on my side lamp to see into the far corner of my room where I felt the presence, and no one was in there. My cat, who slept on my bed, was growling and staring into the corner as well, her fluff starting to rise.
I slowly sit up to take a better look with my glasses on, when the landline phone rang, and I heard my mom pick up. The presence went away as my cat stopped growling and jumped off the bed to go investigate said corner. I then heard my mom rush out of the house, crying. Found out that morning my grandfather had passed away. I think he stopped by to tell me goodbye.
The second incident, I was a bit younger, 12/13 ish. I had woken up sometime after midnight, but before 3, feeling like my back was spasming, my stomach bubbling and my leg very sore. I just felt all kinds of wrong. I decided to go tell my mom because it just felt so off and weird, and I thought it could be serious. I wake her up, and tell her I'm not feeling well and hurting, and she could see my leg was swollen, and my lower back hot. She told me to turn on the light when I realized i needed to vomit, so I ran to her bathroom (thankfully four very large steps from her bed) and just spewed into the toilet for what felt like an hour. Mom got up to make sure I was ok while my siblings woke up because I was screaming out in pain from the heaving hurting my leg and back.
Once I was done, my mom got me to her bed, while my siblings climbed, in, and she was examining my leg (which was starting to feel less painful after the vomit spell) that was still swollen, when the phone rang. My special needs, but very independent, uncle was hit by a car right around the time I woke up. I remember because my mom had mentioned it several times in previous conversations that I woke up near the time he was hit. His leg was shattered (same leg on my body that was swollen), his liver took the direct hit, and his stomach took a lot of trauma from the momentum pushing him forward and hitting a curb there. The guy who had hit him came to his aid, while calling 911, my uncle vomited up blood from the trauma and promptly passed out from the pain.
My siblings and I now awake, could hear the whole conversation and sat in stunned silence. My mom starts crying, telling them that I"m sick and she couldn't leave us alone while I was sick (my dad was out of town, and I'm the oldest), but all three of us told her that she should go. I felt significantly better as the conversation continued, my siblings were willing to watch out for me and call the hospital where my uncle was taken and get ahold of one of our aunts if there was an emergency. We also had an aunt in town who could come check on us.
Mom left, and I remember all three of us fell asleep on her bed. We woke up the next morning, and I stayed in bed (still feeling ill from the vomiting), while my brother and sister made cereal and played video games till my mom got home. My uncle did survive and is still alive and kicking :)

Just west of Yakima Washington, we were in the car. It was walking along the edge of the tree line under some power lines. About 1/3 the height of the Poles. My sister saw it first, then my brother, mom, and I. I was 4 at the time. When we told my dad he thought we were making it up. A couple weeks later he was watching "in search of" and they were playing the Paterson Gimlin film. I walked into the room and when I saw it I said "I saw that"! After that dad believed us. I don't know if sasquatch is still out there, but it was in 1988.

My friend and I went to Montreal to see a concert last year. We’re from NY.
As we approached the border to get into Canada my friend took his drivers license out and held it in his hand. I saw him holding it.
When we got up to the border patrol guard he couldn’t find the ID.
We looked for almost an hour- tore the entire car (Honda Accord) apart- I’m talking we looked in the CD player, took the covers off the seats, went through all our clothes, even looked on the road leading up to the border.
We couldn’t find his ID.
Later on when we parked, we looked for a while again and still couldn’t find it. We Looked through all our bags and belongings- it wasn’t there.
He never found it- it just completely disappeared.

This is something I never thought was truly real, as it happened when I was a kid and like to think my eyes were just playing tricks on me.
Anyway; I had to get surgery when I was in the 5th grade after falling off my bike. Nothing too bad, but I had to stay a couple nights in the hospital. As I recovered, my mom (who worked at the hospital) came to my room one time on her lunch break to show me around the hospital in a wheelchair.
She took me to a medical wing that had lots of windows, where I could see into a bunch of conference and meeting rooms from the hallway. I remember they were all brightly lit and there were people, doctors, nurses talking in some of these rooms. We pass a few of these rooms and I’m bored to tears.
Then we rolled past a room where - to this day - I swear all could see through the window was a single, solitary red dress. Nothing else. It wasn’t hanging on a hanger. It wasn’t thrown over any furniture. It wasn’t on a mannequin. It was just a red dress - floating, standing - as if being worn by someone invisible. I’ll never forget seeing it plain as day, and seeing the contours of the dress as my mom wheeled me past, seemingly oblivious. I was mesmerized for a solid 10-20 seconds until we rounded a corner out of sight.
I’ve never told anyone this before.

Had a few strange incidents in a college apartment, which was half the second floor of three-story Victorian in an east coast mountain town. One of them was this: I was 21, maybe 22 and feeling extremely sad one night. Just moldering on the couch. Lights on, no tv, no music. Then all of the sudden, my stereo and CD player turned on. The CD player had a six-disc carousel (as we Xennials are well familiar with), and it spun randomly to a disc and began playing Bridge Over Troubled Water.
“When you're weary, feeling small When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough”
I melted. Tears of connection, relief, caring. Felt like someone was looking out for me.
Years later, I listened to recordings I made in the apartment and noticed a voice that sang with me, seemed to harmonize with me at times, and whispered chords before I played them. I’d sometimes describe the key I was about to play in, how I was about to fret a chord to remind myself and make transcription simpler.
Whatever it was, it felt like a good thing.

Just mostly sleep paralysis on 2 separate occasions. Once in college during the day, had a nap on the couch of my gf's apartment. Her and her friends were at the table across the room. I woke to a shadowy figure/presence over me, pressing me down. I tried to yell out, but nothing came out, as if it had control over my breathe. Freaked me tf out.
The other time wasn't as memorable, but while coming out of sleep, I remember "observing" a shadowy presence in the corner of the house in another room by the back door, just there. I was in another room, but felt partly awake and maybe projecting into the kitchen. Had a similar effect where I was trying to yell out "who/what are you?" "you are not welcome here" "LEAVE", but in my sleep I was just mumbling to myself until my gf shook me awake and said I was having a nightmare.
Coincidentally - stumbled upon this podcast from earlier today along the same subject - (link here). It's interesting, and agree that there should be more studies on sleep paralysis and DMT beings.

We’ve occasionally been in the habit of putting on rain sounds from YouTube.
It must have been a couple of weeks ago, I was awakened by an…electric sound. Think vacuum cleaner or a roomba (of which we have, so that would have made sense). I had to convince my brain that I’m awake, and to shed any lingering dreams phantoms that happen. So I laid there, making sure I was mentally awake, and I still heard the sound. It was very structured.
I turned off the YouTube and the sound went away.
I told my partner about it the next morning and resumed the YouTube looking for the sound, and I couldn’t find it.
I feel real confident that it was there. I just don’t think my conscious mind could pick it out.

Sophomore year of college, my grandpa, who lived several states away, turned 80, and the extended family had a big party. My mother didn't allow me to go because of school, but I did get to talk to my aunt on the phone for a bit while they were there. When my aunt and I were saying goodbye, about to hang up, I suddenly felt compelled to say "I love you," even though I'd never said it to her before. We weren't particularly close and didn't talk or see each other often, but I always liked and admired her. She was kind of a rebel and a free spirit, and supposedly I inherited some of the same traits.
A few weeks later, she died by suicide. We were devastated, but I felt okay knowing my last words to her were "I love you." Not the weirdest or freakiest thing ever, but it was definitely a bit strange in the moment.

Around 20 years ago I was the closing supervisor at the department store I worked at. Another sup and I were in the money room (small room with a safe and cash window) checking a screen to see if all the registers were closed and in my peripheral vision I see someone walk by.
I asked the other sup if they saw it and they did and said "it must have been someone in the hall walking by the cash window,". I felt like I wouldn't be able to see that from where I was standing and the cash window was tiny so it just didn't feel like the right answer.
The "person" I saw walking I saw before the cash window and after like they were in the room with us.
When the first person came to drop their money bags I asked them to do me a favor go to the end the hall and walk by the window. We went back to where we had been when we saw the "person" walk through the room

I've heard "La Llorona's" scream.
When I was a kid, I would spend summer vacations in Venezuela. My family owned a house in a tiny coastal town east of the capital.
One night, we were all woken by a high-pitched and shrill scream that moved along the road in front of our house. After the scream, dogs howled incessantly the rest of the night.
The next morning, everyone, including the neighbors, talked about La Sayona (Venezuel's version of La Llorona). Was it really a creature of folklore or someone tweaking on a bad trip? I don't know.
But I do know that it was gawd-fucking-awful. To this day, I can still hear the scream in my head. It's very distinct and hard to describe. All I know is that it was definitely not human.

I saw what I can only describe as a UFO / UAP back some time in the late ‘90s. It was a silvery metallic circular disc, with no markings of any sort, and all the corners rounded off. The weirdest part is that as it moved, it was kind of … tumbling, I guess?
Now, I know what you’re thinking “Duhh, it was a balloon.” I’d say that same thing myself but … it wasn’t a balloon. All of its movements were perfectly fluid as I watched it for 15-20 seconds as it flew above my parents’ house in broad daylight. Every time I see a balloon drifting around I watch it to see if, even for a minute, it will behave like whatever I saw did. Shit, I’ve looked up videos of balloons to try to find just one example so I can rationalize it away. To this day, nothing has come close. I don’t know what to think about it. I kind of rationalize it away as being some sort of experimental aircraft, but fuck if I know.
My other one is that one time I had a dream that predicted a future event to disturbing accuracy. Honestly I’m still kind of shaken by it. I don’t really believe in prophetic dreams, psychic predictions, etc. … but the alternative is such a wild series of coincides that I don’t know if I can really buy that either. I never remember my dreams, and if I do they’re all distorted and wonky, but this one was crystal clear and I remembered all of it when I woke up. I laughed it off because the whole thing was so random, but a month later not only does it play out, but I find out they the events that led to that point were playing out 150 miles away with a buddy of mine.

My ex fiancee was Vietnamese and lived with her deeply religious family. They were like watch live church services from back home at 1am and pray for two hours like you are in a trance type folks and the entire house was full of religious artifacts and I’m fine with whatever religious beliefs people have but the house had weird energy that made me uncomfortable. The entire family had dreams that would come true and my ex fiance predicted two heart attack deaths in really precise detail that ended up coming true down to the specifics. Her Dad didn’t approve of me being in the house with her for reasons that don’t matter, but the first time I walked into her house after he passed away all of the dogs started barking at something that wasn’t there and pictures in the living room fell off the wall at once. In February 2002, I had a vivid dream that I met Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional. In my dream I got to talk to him and he signed my t shirt.
Then in real life that summer, 2002, I saw Dashboard live when they opened for Weezer. After their set we went out to the common areas of the venue and there he was signing a few autographs. We went over to him and he was super nice. Chatted for a bit since there weren’t many people around. He signed my ticket stub and complimented my neon green hair.
I had never had anything like that happen before, never met a musician or gotten an autograph or anything like that. I had no idea he’d be there greeting folks, it was just a total fluke. I found out belatedly that my first apartment was built on land that was owned by an adult prison that had been downsized to a juvenile detention center. The part my building sat on was the old potter’s field/ prison graveyard. That apartment, no matter how many lights we turned on was always dim. You could hear the sound of pots shifting in the cabinets and once, a basket of colored pencils that sat on a shelf tipped over by itself and fell striking the wall- and made no sound whatsoever. The last straw was when I heard someone walk down the hall, open and shut our (locked) front door, walk past my room, through our kitchen to the back door and exit. We were on the second floor with all doors and windows locked. My roommate came home once and as she stepped into the living room the doorbell started going off. We broke our lease and left, but not before I started experiencing night terrors and my roommate saw shadows moving in the back bedroom. Everything was peachy once we moved.

I fell back asleep, over breakfast I was explaining to my cousin about the weird dream I had. He experienced the same thing.
SmallSaltyMermaid@reddit
A couple of unexplained things I’ve witnessed. Enjoy the long read.
The first was when I was home alone living on Camp Pendleton around 2005. We had vertical blinds hanging in our home. I was watching tv and my cat was laying on me. All of the sudden, it was as if someone took their hand and violently ran them through half the vertical blinds across the room. They vibrated out before swinging side to side. The windows were not open, training never affected the home, and there weren’t any vents near by. I was freaked out and walked over trying to rationalize what just happened. No explanation. I talked to a couple neighbors and they all have reported some odd things like that in their home too. My neighbor witnessed a soda can slide across her counter.
Later in my life, I had a roommate who was going through a very hard time. She told me that she could feel a cat jump on her bed at night and purr. She felt comfortable with this because she could tell it was her cat that passed away a couple years prior. She told me I have to experience this. So one night I laid in her bed. Sure enough about ten minutes in to us rolling over to sleep, I felt a jump onto the foot of the bed. I could feel this ghost cat walk up between us and around hip height circle around and lay down. I could feel the vibrations from this cat purring and my roommate asked “Are you feeling this?!” I couldn’t deny that one was unsettling but not scary cause I wasn’t alone.
My last one that will forever solidify life after death for me, was when my daughter was almost 2 and not into imaginary play yet. We were laying on the couch watching a movie, when she quietly gasped and sat up looking over at the other side of the room into the office. She then started waving and looked a little confused. She looked at me and I said “it’s okay. Mommy and grandma are here.” Then she looked back at the same spot, waved hello, said “hi. I see you!”, and giggled. She was unsure because I wasn’t seeing this person and she was reading me. Naturally, I was scared out of my mind trying to be super cool about what was happen and so glad my mom was there to see this too. My daughter started blinking like she was playing a copycat game, waving, and giggling more. Then I said “who do you see?” I then told her to take my hand and walk me over to who she sees. She walked me and my mom over to the corner of the office and looks up at the ceiling while she’s giggling still. She said “Yes. I see you.” and keeps waving and saying hello. She’s squealing in delight and my mom asked her “Does this person love you?” And my daughter said “YES!!” I don’t think I breathed in the five minutes of this interaction in my house. She wasn’t scared at all, while my mom was unsure, and I was freaking out on the inside. I have a friend who’s into mediumship and later told me it was my Grandmother, my mom’s mom who came for a visit.

Back in 2002 I saw something weird in the sky. It was around midnight and a friend and I were just chilling on a couch outside the flat. We saw what appeared to be a shooting star, but then the thing suddenly stopped and switched directions, going back almost the same way but not exactly. This all happened in the space of one or two seconds. It was so fast, like way faster than any airplane. It was exactly like a shooting star, except for the change in direction. I have never come across any plausible explanation for it.

At a great big sea concert in 2001 (tulip fest) me and my best friend saw three lights in the sky that formed the corners of a triangle dance around a bit in the nights sky in a way neither us could explain and never seen any anticipation equipment move in such a way.

I was laying in bed in my childhood bedroom one night when I woke up to the sound of something falling off the top shelf of my open closet. Over the next minute or two all of the contents of the top shelf fell to the floor one by one...like in an organized way as if each item was being separately thrown.
My friends and I also saw a UFO while we were the only ones on the beach in the middle of the night, but we were tripping so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I saw a geriatric man duke it out with a geriatric fellon; the victor was obstenibly to become leader of the free world.
I don't have the capacity to understand how this could be real.

Throughout life I have always had spectacularly hot girlfriends. And my wife is stunning. I still get frequent proportions.
And I hear you saying, “Hey there Mr. Randomredditguy, that happens all the time out there in life”. No false humility here, like at all, but I’m a solid 3. Maybe 2.5. It’s a crazy magnetism.

Never. Unfortunately. I always wanted to, to see something truly amazing or something unexplainable but it's all so goddamn banal and normal. Why the fuck don't I get to have cool ghost adventures and stuff?

A rotating green light that shot overhead and over the near hills. To this day, the only explanation I have is that some materials burn green flames, so a meteor full of copper maybe?
But, you know, it was rotating…

I saw two stars slowly and steadily rotating in a perfect circle on an invisible axis for about 10 minutes. They looked like medium sized stars, not very bright and they were in front of the clouds. They then slowly moved away from me and faded into the sky.

The stairs in my grand parents 200 year old farmhouse. It always felt eerie and malevolent, and gave a chill…to EVERYONE. I thought it was just me until I mentioned it to my dad a few years ago, who said the same thing.

As a child I saw the full apparition of a little girl standing next to me in an antique mall. I was standing outside one of the cubbies, blocking the entrance to it and she was standing just inside of it. You know that visceral hind feeling you get when someone real is standing next to you? That’s what she felt like. I turned my head briefly away and looked back expecting her to still be there. There was no where for this little girl to go.
But when I turned back, she was gone. My whole body jolted. Broad daylight, in the middle of a big store.
As a kid and teen I had a few small experiences here and there. Noises mostly, like the sound of the tv being on when it wasn’t. But never anything quite like that one.

A few months after my grandmother passed away, I was living in her house caretaking it until my family could fix it up for sale. It was just a few minutes before my alarm clock went off and I could distinctly hear grandma calling my name from downstairs. I jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to... Nothing.
I assumed it was just lucid dreaming and went about my day. A few days later I called my mom and I mentioned what had happened and she asked if I was joking. Apparently her and both of her brothers had a very similar experience, but we all live scattered from Colorado to Ontario. The coincidence is the four of us were at her bedside at the moment she passed away.
I don't really believe in ghosts and whatnot, but it's a big universe and I have zero explanation for that one.

Who knows what these were - house creaks, group hallucinations, sleep paralysis…but they’re fun stories to tell nonetheless.
Grew up in a house where it’d sound like a child walking in the house - through the kitchen and down the hall pretty much every night. This was experienced from my mom’s early childhood to her kids’ (grandparents raised me). We knew a toddler died in the house before we moved in and we just thought it was the baby “protecting us.” All of us except my gramps believed it was a ghost. He’d even get up sometimes to check who was up, and then question us the next day asking who it was. All of us were always asleep.
When I was in high school, I snuck my bf in and the steps of course the steps were heard as they typically were. I told him don’t worry, no one’s up—it’s just the ghost and nothing ever happens. He jumped up and booked it through my window with his clothes in hand. Sometime later, I ran away and was gone for a bit, and when I came home, I ended up sleeping on the couch. While I was gone, it was one of the few times my gramps cried in the house. Typically, the steps would start between 2-3am. When I turned off the TV, it sounded like someone stomping in the kitchen. Turned the tv on, they stopped. No one in the kitchen. I said out loud, “I’m sorry. I’ll never do it again and make my family sad.” All was well again.
Later on, when I was 21, my now husband and I moved into our first apartment. We hadn’t yet bought bedding and we were using camp bags unzippered. As we laid there, we both swear it felt like someone’s hands grabbed the bag at the foot of our bed and pulled it off us. It happened the second night we were there, and I freaked out. I smudged the house and spoke out loud that if it let us be, we’d be respectful and could both live there. Never had anything like that happen again, but me, our roommate and my sister all felt like we were never alone there. So freaking weird.

Saw what I can only say looked like the Phoenix lights, but several years later and in the Mojave desert between AZ and CA. Was right over my car at one point and, thought I thought seeing something like this would be so cool, I was actually scared for my family’s life.

Oh yeah... there might be one or two guys who will remember this if they read things on here so here we go. I had my little 80 model toyota silver bullet 4 door, and my buddies are drunk one night and we're cruising the back roads. Hey, lets go check out the big woods! Back then, the big woods was supposed to be a satanic hideout, yadda yadda, but hey, off we go at 3 in the morning to the road leading to Big Woods... as soon as my tires hit the different pavement of the county road, the car dies. I am driving, there's nothing out of the ordinary, but my car just died. When I get it cranked and put it into drive, that car went backwards. I have the cabin space of an animal cracker box in this car, and 4 very frightened and drunk teenage boys going off like a roomful of cats with a string of firecrackers. I think the ghosts were more scared than we were.

When I was a kid, my parents bedroom was on the second floor. It was an old house so you could hear footsteps pretty clearly if someone was walking to one side of the room to the other, opening and closing the closet and leaving the room; the door to the room closed with a loud click. My sister and I would hear someone doing that every night as kids while we waited for our parents to get home and what sounded like muffled talking even though no one was there. If I go over there and it’s quiet, I still hear the footsteps sometimes.

I'm sure there is an explanation for it, but in the very late 90s, I was driving my 1984 Firebird on the highway in southern Connecticut when, suddenly, three spinning balls of light in a V-formation shot down from the sky and hovered high above my vehicle. My best friend was in the passenger seat, and we both saw it and stared silently for a few seconds until they vanished as quickly as they had appeared. My best friend said, "Did we just see aliens?" and I said, "Who cares? It's not like anyone is going to believe us!" We both started laughing hysterically.
I still have no idea what we saw, but we always crack up when we talk about it.

When I was 16 or so, I was asleep and had trouble breathing, I remember feeling like I was being suffocated. I woke up and looked out at my window and saw a shining bright light with a face that smiled at me. It was like fire. I can still picture it now.
It drew a sword from its side and made a slicing movement. I immediately was able to breathe again. It disappeared, and black smoke started rolling out of my room.
My coughing woke my sister up, and she saw the smoke herself too.
Neither of us was able to sleep that night afterward.
Oh, I just remembered when I was probably 10 or so, I saw a black cloaked figure in my room by my bed.
I also remember asking my mom why dinosaurs were running around on the floor when I was trying to sleep.

My friend and I were walking down the street at night in 97. Lots of trees crowding out the sky, but through a narrow portion over the road a solid light source high in the sky was circling, then shot off out of view, fading to darkness. Took about 5 seconds to go from overhead to over the horizon

Saw two glowing orbs flying through the sky, silently, in broad daylight. Close enough to see that they weren't like anything I've seen made by a human. Who knows, though. REALLY made me wonder if something else is watching us be greedy, short-sighted, destructive monkeys, that's for sure.
