How did the newspapers get hold of the drivers photos in the Wimbledon crash?

This person Claire Freemantle had sufficient money to hire the best lawyers in London, had a whole year to completely wipe her internet presence prior to the result being announced - yet somehow the daily mail still managed to get pics of her ?
Smooth_Simple1375@reddit
Claire Fremantle and her wealthy husband may be able to pay for top barristers, but the world knows what she did! We can only hope and prey that the investigation looks further into her trumped up ‘one off’ epileptic fit. This should then put her front and centre of the news headlines prior to being thrown in jail with a sentence that befits such a calculating liar!
lapetite_etoile@reddit
Everyone knows they've pulled strings.
It's when the threat of those strings becoming public knowledge happens, that she will then be charged properly.
Because they wont throw themselves under the bus, but they will eventually throw her.
Few_logs@reddit
“deepest sorrow’ ah that is ok then. an average joe would have been crucified
ozbert99@reddit
If you can pay doctors to say you had a seizure, you're in the clear. Was the diagnosis made by an independent, unpaid NHS doctor? We'll never know, but amazing how often rich people have access to a different kind of criminal justice system
Flimsy-Tomatillo5985@reddit
I can’t see how you can pay off a whole medical team, not to mention an independent team put forward by the police.
Big_Experience_5160@reddit
Epilepsy is hard to prove. Im epileptic based on symptoms alone they cannot confirm a epilepsy sezuire without seeing it or a abnormal eeg mri ect, a neurologist has to do loads of tests to confirm epilepsy & want to see for themselves the charteristics of the sezuire to help confirm what type of epilepsy or if its epilepsy at all could be a psychotic break or ptsd panic attack ect. A neurologist knows if someone is faking a sezuire or if it has a emotional cause more than a physical problem with the brain neurons. Saying her supposed symptoms during the crash & convenient lack of memory & awareness doesn't prove she had a sezuire. Just proves her supposed symptoms COULD be epilepsy but no medical professional would get on the stand and say she 100% had a sezuire in the way they could if the driver had a heart attack.
Economy_Raccoon709@reddit
Same here :) and my nhs trust do not diagnose until at least 2 seizures, I randomly had one age 31, my partner was there and called 999 etc. afterwards I don’t even remember going to hospital - I also slept 16 hours straight , it’s the equivalent of the body running a marathon- this makes me wonder too? I think she may be lying or is in fact epileptic and had license taken away and continued to drive ? I had to have short medica licenses once I did get it back then every 3 years full medical Checks with dvla, GP and my neurologist, even after 10 years controlled I am kept an eye on and back then I had a newborn baby and sleep deprivation maybe a reason but we will never know. One in 10 people have 1 seizure in their lives so definitely can happen to anyone x
donotcallmemike@reddit
Wrong! It can be diagnosed after a single seizure in certain circumstances.
Mersaul4@reddit
The problem is, it's not possible to prove whether someone had a seizure ,say, two days ago. All we know is she didn't have a history of seizures.
Complex-Ad1903@reddit
I thought she had diagnosed controlled epilepsy. A simple line of investigation would be doctors records followed by whether the DVLA were notified and cleared her to have a licence due to being seizure free or not previously suffering loss of consciousness seizures.
Maximum_Fishing2606@reddit
If she has controlled epilepsy, there will only be certain type of vehicles she can drive; taxis.... the easy one is lorries, the restriction(s) will be on her driving license.
Zharkgirl2024@reddit
Is she's epileptic she shouldn't be driving, and you have to declare that to DVLA - I have focal seizures and am not allowed to drive. If she wasn't diagnosed previously, then anything can trigger a seizure ( including brain tumors like mine) BUT the fact she's thrown so much money at this makes it very suspicious
throwaway345789642@reddit
No, this was her first seizure apparently. So DVLA would not have been involved prior.
Big_Experience_5160@reddit
I'm epileptic and 100% agree to that. I smell a rat & a expensive legal team. a neurologist wouldn't get on the stand under oath & say she had a sezuire. I want to know how she was immediately after the crash. I feel like I've been in the boxing ring with a heavyweight after a sezuire, totally exhausted sometimes very injured. I know there are thousands of different forms of epilepsy & sezuire disorders some can be due to ptsd. psychosomatic ect not caused by a neurological condition. I just find her lawyers have found a convenient hard to prove condition to get her off from her dangerous driving. look at where it happened my guess is she lost control of her suv she couldn't manage. money talks.
throwaway345789642@reddit
You do realise Claire didn’t choose her own doctor, right? The police run an independent investigation.
gooderz84@reddit
Soon as I saw the car I knew this would all go away for her.

The optics of a rich white lady trying to escape any kind of repercussion for mowing down two asian children, has not escaped a lot of people.

Complex-Ad1903@reddit
Why if she had a medical episode. Would you name and shame someone who had an heart attack behind the wheel. Get a grip.
Ok-Cicada1033@reddit
I know... This whole thread is insane.
Anyone can have a medical episode. But these tin-foil-hatters seem to think there is some grand conspiracy behind the whole thing. Add in a sprinkle of eco-lunatics, and we've got a toxic mix.
The driver has to live with killing 2 kids - I feel sorry for everyone involved. There but for the grace of God go any of us.
Ok-Scheme8145@reddit
This hasn't aged well. The investigation has been reopened and 11 police officers including the one in charge are also under investigation. But sure, according to you, rich posh woman with top lawyer has nothing to worry about.
DavejHale@reddit
a poor dude videoed having an epileptic fit as they drove into kids would face jail. They would find a way!
some rich dude claims... and walks away.
I'd bet millions she was distracted (likely phone) - panicked as left the road, unable to stop a car she was unused to, got out the car saying 'what have i done' then suddenly 'remembers' oh epilepsy after a chat with a lawyer or two.
Some oxford medical student stabs ex, walks away scot free - don't want to ruin her career. The actual reason given for no jail/record...
They love the 'plebs' shouting about two tier justice and pointing at immigrants while they, the '££ class', wrap themselves in lawyers
TheyCagedNon@reddit
"The driver has to live with killing 2 kids"
She has literally paid a Lawyer to remove all her data from the internet, a Lawyer that specialises in cover ups.
Ok-Cicada1033@reddit
So what? If I had the money, I'd probably try and get my photo removed. If there's no criminal intent, why is there a need for her details to be public?
nannyplump@reddit
That you, Claire?
Icy-Inside-6254@reddit
The photo in the removed article was the wrong Claire (with name spelt Clare). That would explain why it was removed, now wouldn't it?
The idea that lawyers are involved is pure conjecture - and if they were it was likely lawyers acting for the wrong Clare.
Facts matter.
Essar@reddit
Because she shouldn't be driving that kind of a car.
Low_Conversation7684@reddit
It's the 'if' that needs investigating as it wasn't properly undertaken. The police had advised the families months ago that they didn't have the specialist resources available to carry out the investigation so it was delayed. Key witnesses weren't interviewed and there were holes in the investigation. At the very least the families deserve a property investigation into what happened. She was driving a new car so who knows if a lack of knowledge of that car contributed. It's not easy to diagnose epilepsy either.
namemattT@reddit

I agree she should be in prison. Didn't know if there is any evidence of an Israel connection?
Born-Zucchini4212@reddit
It is amazing how someone with the right resources can delete any trace of her from the internet. Not even the media outlets have her picture in the articles they publish. Most likely she had a gag order against for that purpose. Do we know if the police collected any blood samples or performed an alcohol/drug test at the scene? Also, that car most likely had a fitted dashcam, including audio recording, have they analyzed that?

Strange that the original investigation seems (according to some) to have been botched. Such a serious case you’d imagine it would require a watertight investigation.
Syn-Fi@reddit
Strange my friend ? The police in this country are useless just look back over key cases to the m62 bombing or the Birmingham six, Peter Mallinson , axel rudakabana etc. police are only good at harassing people over thought crimes and giving themselves a clap - remmeber lockdown . Police like the NHS, are cult institutions in the public’s mind eye but otherwise utter rot of inadequacy and self promotion.
kash_if@reddit
You know, it may not have been botched but deliberately scuttled. Between police and CPS, someone decided that it was not worth putting it to trial. What has changed? I tried to look up change in leadership (with change in government) but could not find a direct link. Maybe the balance has shifted allowing some people from within to push for a review.

Initially it was reported she got out of the saying 'what have I done", you can't do that if you've had a seizure. The case would not have been reopened if there weren't doubts about the initial reason for the crash. If she had been driving a normal sized car instead of a ridiculous 'yummy mummy keeping up with the Jones' car she could not have done that much damage. The only people who drive these SUVs are yummy mummies taking their kids to school, around Wimbledon I have never seen a man driving these ridiculous kid killer cars. In fact I've asides in the countryside I've never seen a man drive them at all. Because of their height and weight even at a sensible speed they are still more likely to kill children than a normal sized car. They should be banned in urban areas. You can't tell me a Porsche SUV is bought for anything other than to show off.

Some reports are saying the 48 year old driver was in good health and had no previous history of epilepsy. That's not to say it didn't happen but two young girls died that day because of her. I wonder how soon it took to be given a clean bill of health and be back behind the wheel, assuming that's the case.
HappyLady19@reddit
Well I am delighted that the police have now reopened the case. Hopefully justice will be done.

Anyone who has a chance of getting seizures should be BANNED from driving for life. I don't care if you're fine 360 days of the year, it only takes a few seconds and yards to KILL 2 kids. God forbid this was my kid, she'd be having a permanent fit under the rubble.

I’m not a medical expert but I’m pretty sure the size of the vehicle you drive doesn’t influence the likelihood of you getting a seizure.

westartfromhere@reddit
That will be one line of enquiry, presumably. Another could be the relationship that the driver had with the school board of governors, if she was a former member of that board? Alcohol and drug levels in her blood system, which will have been recorded when she was treated in hospital for "shock". Interviews will be carried out with staff and parents of children at the school. All these steps should have been taken closer to the time.
All these investigations will be carried out and the same verdict as previously will be determined.

"One of the key issues highlighted was the diagnosis of epilepsy, which is notoriously difficult to detect without brain scans.
The review is understood to have been critical of missed opportunities by the investigation team in the Road Traffic Collisions Unit that failed to interview key witnesses about the behaviour of the driver in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
Earlier this year, Helen Lowe, who was the head of The Study Prep at the time of the incident, revealed she was yet to speak to police about the crash."
It sounds like there's more to it than that which the investigation didn't cover.
Keyspam102@reddit

An amazing excuse to remove yourself from dangerous driving (?substance abuse of the rich and privileged?) and in the very least why she wasn’t charged with involuntary manslaughter? Utterly shocking. She should experience a momentary break in her plush life to be without her family behind bars to understand what a day feels like for the families of the two little girls she killed and forever changed in addition to the lives of all of the other she has affected. No justice is not justice.
Significant-Text-880@reddit
Furthermore. I hope she really appreciates being able to close her eyes at night and know she will wake the next morning to see her children’s faces. Nothing her victims will ever experience, ever again. She has truly devastated the lives of many, forever.
Low_Conversation7684@reddit
She was driving a new car. A lack of knowledge of its workings could have contributed to losing control but who knows if that was explored as part of the investigation. It's also very difficult to determine if someone has epilepsy. I'm wondering what evidence was provided to prove she had a new, never before, seizure. Also, the police told the families of the little girls that they didn't have the resources to conduct the investigation, I remember this from the news a few months ago and was shocked at the time as the investigation was delayed as a result. Then they claim to have conducted a thorough investigation from the start? It's all suspect and deserves, at the very least, the most recent outcome that the case was reopened. They didn't interview key witnesses according to the Head teacher who was herself, on the scene and not interviewed. People seem to think it's just the grieving families wanting answers but I think the families just want a proper investigation as several factors remain unanswered.

For the first time ever, I am glad Daily Mail exists. This woman's face needs to be seen and known.
Chester-Ming@reddit
I used to work in the press and the Daily Mail was one of our customers.
The way we got photos (called “collects” or “collect photos”) of someone for a story was to find out who the persons friends and family are. Social media is key but we also used the electoral roll to find connections.
Then we would use social media to see if any of these friends/family had posted photos of them online. You can delete your own social media account, but if your friends have taken selfies or group photos and put them on social media, it’s tough to control where they go.
We’d need to get two confirms (knock on the doors of friends/family and ask them to confirm the photo is of them) to ensure an accurate ID.
Then the photo gets run.
