How do you feel about freight tracking apps?
I personally hate it. They use MY data, MY phone, no compensation, and how do I know they are safe? They could easily be tracking other personal stuff on my phone that they have no business tracking.

I have to say as a buyer, Project44's notifications are consistently awful, the absolute worst. Notifications arrive consistently hours if not days late and often contain straight up wrong information (like when exceptions occur, Project44's system seems to have no clue an exception has even occurred and keeps pushing out ETAs based on outdated information). Once an item is delivered, as usual Project44 is either hours late in sending a notification, or fails to send one at all.

That's going to be a big no from me. There's no guarantee they're safe and niche app developers are notorious for having security issues and data breaches. If one is absolutely positively needed it has to go on a company device and not your personal device. There are legal protections and precedent for that being a breach of privacy for non office fields. Though protections are being chipped away. Court did just rule that it's perfectly legal for an employer to put a GPS tracker on your personal vehicle without your knowledge if at any point it is used for work-related business. Supposedly going to appeals so presumed legal for now, I guess.

As long as it means they don't call me a bunch, I do not care.

If your company wants you to use your phone, tell them to reimburse you. Otherwise they can give you a company phone to use. The apps have very narrow permissions and you can set it to only track when you are using the app. Look up Project44 in the app store. * Personal info>Phone number - This is to prevent a scammer from using a fake phone to spoof the location. * Location>Approximate and Precise - Obvious reasons for a tracking app. * Photos and Videos>Photos Optional - They can request and receive pics of the load, seal, and BOL. Your device should ask before you select the pic to share.

As a trucker, I never would have tolerated it. As someone who now receives things off of trucks, I understand why it may be warranted.

Yeah I understand the need for using them but we should be reimbursed for using our personal phones or even better given a work phone for this purpose.

Hate it. Macro point and Amazon relay are the only two I've had to use but they both suck. They make my phone hot to the touch. I'm convinced that's what killed my last phone.

My company uses brokered freight sometimes and they try to do this I tell them to fuck off, also block their number when they try to call me. Not my job to deal with brokers.
