Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ON or OFF?

Hello,So I just upgraded my PC to ;
Asus tuf-B550 plus-wifiR7 5800x16GB ram 3600mhzWD Blue 500 GB SSDRTX 2060650w 80+ bronze psu
only my GPU and SSD are from my old build. When I was setting up my PC I sought help from my "tech buddy" and he told me to turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling On for better gaming experience and set app preference to performance( to the games that I will be playing). Today while messing with the RGB lights on Asus Armourycrate, I noticed I can check my GPU usage and temp too. So to double confirm the readings were accurate I went to match the readings with task manager and I noticed desktop window manager GPU usage was 85% - 100% constantly ( there was no other apps running in the background except for the windows apps). But according to Asus Armourycrate GPU usage was 5%-15%. I was worried that its putting too much pressure on my GPU so I turned it off. After applying the changes and restarting, my PC idle GPU usage was 3% - 5%.
I'm kind of noob when comes to tweaking this and that, experiment with stuff etc. and also I get worried when I see readings like this. I care about my pc and I plan to use my pc as long as I can.
So my questions are;
- Which reading of GPU usage is the accurate one? the armourycrate or the task manager one?
- Should I keep Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling OFF?
- If Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling On is recommended then, 85% - 100% GPU usage by Desktop window manager on idle is normal or somethings is wrong?
Any other advices please feel free to share
Apologies for bad English as its not my first language
Thanks in advance.<3
Edit: I'm on Windows 10

Sur Mafia The old country : HAGS / ON = framerate instable HAGS / OFF = framerate stable !
Conclusion, certains jeux tolèrent mal le HAGS.

The option must be enabled. You will have the best performance.

so much miss information here its funny. most gaming laptops and prebuilts have it enabled by default. FOR A REASON.
it doesnt cause screen tearing. it doesnt cause artifacts. it doesnt drop ur fps to 5.
all these ppl have other issues and have ZERO clue how hardware acceleration works. these are the same people who have some weird placebo effect where anytime a new update comes out for windows or their gpu they think the performace is worse. these are the same ppl that think windows 11 is still bad for gaming and they are the same ppl that tell you to install windows TEN on newest gen CPUS. U know the cpus that are built for windows ELEVEN. the CPUS that perform BETTER in windows ELEVEN. but hey if you have this weird placebo disease go ahead turn it off in 2024. lol if u want ur pc to run like crap turn it off....

Esto es mentira , muchos juegos requieren que desactives esa opción de Windows o el Game mode.

Thats not 100% accurate. There are tons of games that have stutters and issues with HAGS turned on. Its a well known fact.
If you want a few extra frames at the cost of possible issues in other games. Turn it on, if you want no issues but a little less performance, turn it off.

I believe hags does not make much difference with people who dont have a cpu bottleneck, hags is best for people who have cpu bottleneck as it relieves the cpu of scheduling what gpu does, enabling it makes the gpu schedule frames itself.

There's a bug right now with some Nvidia driver versions and HAGS, where having it enabled will show DWM using 100% GPU usage, even though it's actually not. It's just a display bug, but I've also never found any game that gained any performance by having HAGS enabled, so I just generally disable it, especially in Windows 11 since it is known to also cause some games to crash under W11 when enabled. Windows 10 doesn't have the crashing issues, but I still haven't found anything that actually benefits from it, so disabling it will be fine.

are you using windows 11 currently?

I have systems with both. Why? This issue has been resolved for about 3 driver releases now.

just curious how Win 11 is with gaming, it seems to receive so many mixed responses.

Gaming seems to be a bit better frames, but only marginally so and not worth the installing time for frame rate in particular. Had to mess with many windows settings to get whole system mote like windows 10 experience while gaming (seemed like windows 11 extracts all the gpu usage for gaming and leaves other tasks with huge latency unless gpu scheduling is turned off)

For me, the acceleration did well in gaming, but second monitor video playback (such as a 480p youtube video) while gaming would put intense latency and dramatically lower the youtube video quality.
I have turned off the setting for this reason and my friend experiences tbe same issue I have with the video playback while gaming.
