Do Currys handle the full uninstallation of gas cookers during delivery, or just remove an already disconnected machine?

Hey everyone, Random but quick query as I've seen varying replies for this.. When ordering a new oven from curry's there's an optional charge for them to take your old oven, and install the new one. During the removal, do they actually *fully* uninstall the existing oven (as in disconnect it from the gas outlet) prior to installing the new one? Luckily, I have a pre-existing "cooker" electrical inlet so it should be as simple as plugging & in going from there, but I'm more iffy about the removal as I believe you require a certified gas engineer for this? Thanks in advance :)

No. They expect it to be ready to take away. Same for most places that offer the option to uplift your old appliance. When you need someone uninstalled and not just removed , you need to find a place that specifically states that’s an option . And it’s not cheap . My pal had it done a while back and it was an extra £100 to have it uninstalled and removed and the new one installed

This is incorrect. Curry's installation includes disconnecting the old appliance. For the removal of a gas cooker and installation of the new appliance, it's £115.

AO.com want £105 for Complete installation, including removal of the old one

If they're installing a new gas cooker, the installer will be a qualified gas engineer who will disconnect the old one. If you've ordered an electric cooker, there's no guarantee the installer will be qualified to disconnect a gas appliance. In this case, your best bet is to give them a call to book the installation and make sure they send someone qualified.

It varies. When they sell you the cooker they tell you that their delivery guys are experts and will do everything. The truth is some of their guys are knowledgeable and helpful and some of them are just drivers who won't do anything other than than the most basic of installations. The same also goes for AO. Last time I paid them for installation of a dishwasher they just said nope you need a plumber and refunded me the fee. I installed it myself using the separate dishwasher outlet that I had pointed out to them.

Ask Currys. Not being flippant here but they're the people you need to check this with 100% beforehand. Any replies here will just add do your list of varying ones.
