I have slept 2-ish hours in the last 48 hours, what's the longest that you have stayed awake?

Yeah, I'm on holiday and staying in a hostel, one of my roommates is a horrendous snorer. I know, part of the risk of booking a hostel, he's a nice guy during the day and he's not doing it on purpose. I also strangely don't feel tired, it's bizarre. I've been to work before on six hours and felt fucked. I'm not sure why that is, maybe it'll hit me like a freight train at some point. Would you try and wait until tonight to sleep, I'm going to ask reception if I can move room, or try and sleep during the day? I'm worried that'll mess up my body clock completely. Edit: 2ish because I got maybe 1ish on the flight and maybe 1ish Monday night

95 hours- teenage speed bender. No food, no sleep, just water and amphetamines. Curiously, the fact that I was hyper functional and charming rather than a chattering mess was prescient of my undiagnosed ADHD and effective amphetamine based treatment in my adult years.

I was going to comment more or less the same but I don't have to cos this tale is so familiar. Speed was a weekly playmate for a couple of years until 19 or so. Nothing quite like that trip though weed was my bag and I did mix with that and others. Eventually quit the speed cos the comedowns, especially with extended sessions, were getting increasingly worse and mindless. Also turns out more recently I have ADHD and sit a bit more on the autistic spectrum than most... which explains and answers so damn much. But the biggest thing was my having a potentially extremely painful and debilitating autoimmune condition (ankylosing spondylitis) starting when I was 18 but only getting properly diagnosed until 21 years later. Doctors gave me the run around or didn't care, despite diagnosis requiring little (one blood test to confirm, one MRI to assess) I dunno... but being told nothing was wrong when it was had me believing I was the wrong un and getting relief from that and a life already going wrong (due to the ADHD being horrifically mistreated) any way I could.

Much sympathy my ND homie, Ive also got the double whammy ASD/ADHD, diagnosed in my late 20s and early 30s despite pleeeeenty of opportunities to identify the issues sooner. 90s schools and docs, eh? Makes you feel like its all on you. Its not. I bet youre a great person and wish you all the peace and love you deserve in this life.

Nearly 3 1/2 days after I underestimated how much work I had left to finish my final year's project at uni. Woke late Tuesday morning then worked almost continuously (stopping only to make food and to shower and change clothes each sunrise) from midday Tuesday until midday Friday where I called it quits and slept for about 18hrs.

Straight? A little over 40 hours, i think. But the worst prolonged period of insomnia i had (which started out with the 40 hour thing) was about 8 hours over ~82 hours/three nights and four days. Absolutely brutal, and about half of those ‘8 hours’ were in twenty-thirty minute periods when i dosed off when i sat down for more than a few minutes. It happened because i had a bit of a depressive spiral on the first day and couldnt lie down/try and sleep without my brain going to some very dark places that I couldn’t handle at the time. My solution was effectively to just keep going/distract myself until i was so tired i’d just go straight to sleep the second i lay down and skip the thinking stage, but I was also solely looking after my dog at the time while my parents were out of town and therefore had to be up at a reasonable time and awake and functional throughout the day. Honestly, I’m just glad I had those days off work, because I’m not sure how the drive wouldve gone otherwise.

71 hours when I was about 19. Was working a day job and writing a MUD with a mate at nights. (MUDs were text-based multiplayer games, before MMORPGs were a thing) Mild auditory hallucinations around 50 hours - I definitely "heard" the door open behind me, even though there was no-one else in the office (it was like 3am). I distinctly remember trying not to look around, knowing my mind was playing tricks on me. Basically something very minor went wrong in my brain and it replayed a memory as though it were an experience. Never ever done anything as stupid as staying up more than about 40 hours since.

I’m a lifelong insomniac, even had sleep studies done as a child because I drove my mum mental with my sleep refusal. I average about 4/5 hours on a good day and that’s broken sleep. My worst stint was no sleep for around 3 and a bit days during my final year at uni. I was so tired and I wanted to sleep. Every time I tried, I just couldn’t.

76hrs. I was a trawlerman. We smashed our net and it needs mended before anything else could be done. Once it was almost finished, the skipper asked who's watch it was next. It was mine. I got 2hrs sleep, then was up for another 8hrs gutting fish before getting back to bed for another 4hrs. I was absolutely done by the end of that trip.

I had bought my first house 3 years previously at 22. It was much easier to get on the housing market before the 2007 credit crunch. That and I had a 50% deposit. I'm not a trawlerman anymore and I don't earn near as much money, but I get to spend much more time with my family and my mental health and general happiness is far, far better nowadays. It isn't all about the money in life.

About two hours sleep between 6am Tuesday and 8pm Thursday - toddler was rushed to hospital on Tuesday evening, stayed awake with him until I went home to get some rest around 10am Wednesday, he woke up when I got back around noon but he was scared and upset to sleep again until we were discharged on Thursday evening. Slept on the floor in his room for about 12 solid hours after that. Generally I get very tired after about 18-20 hours awake but if I make it past that it’s like a second wind. On that occasion the adrenaline and worry kept me awake so I’d have easily stayed awake about 12 hours if I’d needed to.

I semi regularly (and am currently) go a "night" without sleep. I work nights and keep that pattern on my days off. Right now would usually be bed time and I'd get up around 1 or 2. When I reset I just stay up till 8/9 pm and job done. If you want some tips.......drink lots of water and move around a lot. Avoid driving!

Stayed up for three nights on the bounce one. So what's that? Woke up around midday on a Friday, stayed awake Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night. Crashed around 6am Monday morning, so about 65hrs no sleep. That was one hell of a bender. Took me til the evening of the wednesday after to recover. I basically wrote off 5 days. Another seperate occasion my partner and I went to Amsterdam for three days. We only booked a room for the middle night as we were in our mid 20s, skint, and wanted to party. Arrived in Amsterdam at about 2pm having woke up at about 9am. Stayed up for 36 hrs. Crashed for about 12hrs. Then stayed up the night after, straight to the airport for a 5am flight. I have to say, I won't ever be going through customs on a serious hallucinogenic come down ever again. That paranoia was strong.

Mate, both my girlfriend and I were in the same state. Sleep deprived, and trippy balls. We couldn't even reassure each other, never mind ourselves, we were both just in it for the ride. I swear I truly believed at one point I was getting arrested and the only thing that reassured me was my equally fucked up GF saying "why would they arrest us, we've already eaten all the stash?". Then there was the moment I could swear the plane was gonna go down. Like, for real, I was sure it was going to crash, I could see it happening. I was sure I was going to survive the crash though. 4 nights of no sleep was my longest. I was very mentally unwell at the time and was actually in a psych ward. I was already on medications with sedative side effects and I think melatonin too but I still couldn't sleep. Each of those 4 nights I had extra medication given to me to try and knock me out (promethazine and lorazepam, both have sedative effects) but I still could not sleep. It wasn't even just that I couldn't sleep, I was also absolutely wired. I spent all of those nights doing stuff. I made posters for my walls, drew tattoo ideas, wrote multiple page long letters for my therapy homework, played snake on my little Nokia 105, etc. In the daytimes I was still attending groups on the ward and education so I wasn't even having little naps throughout the day. Eventually on the 5th day or night, can't remember which, I crashed out and slept. To this day 5 years later I still have no idea what it was. Whether it was something similar to mania that kept me up or just my insomnia, no idea at all but luckily I've not gone as long as that without sleep since.

Seems like my experience is pretty tame compared to some of the responses here. Me and a mate at uni did an all nighter to try and finish an assignment before a deadline so we could go on a trip we wanted to do. I was pretty exhausted from that a vowed never to stay up all night ever again if I could help it. My sister and my mum went to Portugal a couple of years ago. They encountered all sorts of delays coming back and issues that caused them to be up for about 30+ hours. Driving home my sister had to pull in a layby and get a few hours sleep after she hallucinated a bunch of horses crossing the road. Do not drive tired people!

I almost used to pride myself on how little sleep I had. I would often do 10 days at a time with 2 or less per night. I’d eventually crash and my body would force me to shut down for 12-14 hours. No drugs or anything just the stress of juggling too many things, working full time at uni and living an hour away from where I was working/studying. Plus I was also gigging regularly with a band that was in 3 different cities. I was the only one who had transport and would often drive 6-8hours to pick everyone up/drop everyone off, do the actual gig in the middle, grab a power nap and then do the journey in reverse - often finishing work at 1am and arriving back for my next shift 36 hours later with just a 20 min Power Nap and working through till 1 or 2am again. Longest I’ve gone uninterrupted with is 40 hours. 30 of those was a journey back from France. Long story, but it involved a broken down ferry and an additional 600 road miles to get home without stopping.

7 days. The second longest was 5 days. I'm much better now, but as a kid, I had horrendous insomnia amd regularly would get very little sleep or not sleep for 2-3 days in a row. I think it was mostly tied to anxiety cause it was worse before big state exams. I had the weird feeling too of feeling oddly awake despite not sleeping. I just remember laying in bed wide awake for hours and hours, checking the clock until I could hear the birds outside. On day 4-5 I wanted to cry cause I knew I needed sleep, but just couldn't. For the 7 days, it was a 6 day set of no sleep cause I had a stressful exam, day 7 was more forced though since we had an all night fundraiser we did at my school (really freaking fun) where it's essentially a big sleepover where we all have to stay up for the night. By then, my friends were concerned cause I looked like death warmed over, I remember finishing the fundraiser and passing out at home for ages.

74 hours, I was travelling back from Canada and wanted to be able to get back to UK time easily. But I didn't sleep a wink the night before due to my uncle snoring so loud the whole house was shaking. Then I didn't sleep on the plane, then I went to the pub instead of sleeping and we had a lock in lol. My whole body kept jerking randomly and I felt extremely on edge. I think I didn't do too badly because I had extremely bad insomnia for most of my life and would regularly go without any sleep for a night or two. If you can manage sleeping with ear plugs in or even earphones then I would try that to see if you can sleep a bit better tonight. I would also talk to the snorer, they might be able to change positions to help their snoring.

My work involves running experiments in foreign labs a lot. The one in the US we use is set up for 24 hour shifts, but only for 3 days (day gap in the middle). Im currently based in Aus and we have neither the staff or the money to send enough qualified people to properly and safely split this time up, so I end up just doing the full thing. It requires continuous action and planning so not like you can grab an hour here and there. I absolutely hate it. Last month I chained one of these 24 hour shifts with a flight to Italy in prep for a 12 hour day shift the following day. Ended up awake continuously for 58 hours. Got 6 hours and started the new shift. I won't do that again. The pay isn't even good

As a child I was never a great sleeper. When I was about 17 I completely stopped being able to sleep. After 4 days I was beginning to hallucinate, so being an idiot, I got my mate to take me out and get me blind drunk. I slept for 36 hours, getting up only twice to pee and drink water. I once got a notification that someone had sold a feature to a customer. I stayed at work all night working on it. Then all the next day. Then all the next night. Then all the next day. Got home at around 11pm, vomited. The next day, the person who made the sale got a bonus. I struggled to get up, stumbled in at 9.15, and got written up for being late. I did not get overtime for the extra hours. That was apparently on me for not being a good enough dev to do faster. I didn't stay there much longer. I've got a former buddy who would regularly stay up for weeks at a time, using modafinil to stay awake. On the bright side, he had what he calls a secular spiritual awakening, doing what Buddhist monks have been trying and failing at for millenia in July a few months. On the downside, he also went from a 6 figure income to homeless in the same time period and now spends his days rotating between hospital, prison, and random fields, so I don't really recommend.

Headed up a project about 30 years ago that had a critical phase of 36 hours at the end. It was my idea to do it - if it worked it would save a million in operating costs; if it fucked up, I’d be sacked. I worked 7am to 7pm the next day. It worked. About 72 hours when moving house. There were times when I was working nights that I would get by on one or two hours, sometimes less just because I couldn't sleep in the day. I was so tired I wanted to cry, but I couldn't because I didn't have the energy. It was a weird time and I was like a zombie by the end of it. It was hellish. I don't know how people do it. I suppose if you're a night owl it might suit, but I am a definite day bird. I get the occasional sleepless night now and I blame the night work I did, never had problems before that.

I work 2 nights every 8 days so sometimes regularly go 48 hrs + on a few hrs .. i really struggle to sleep in the day in between as well which doesnt help. the plus side is i can sleep at work if we are not busy between midnight and 6.30am, usually pretty busy though. Once as a kid i helped my stepdad move his soster from one side of ireland to the other and we did 3-4 trips, we were awake for a good 48hrs + , we got back on a tuesday morning and i woke up thursday morning totally confused where a whole day had gone..

I worked on the UK release of Unreal Tournament 3 and Mines of Moria back in the day. For both, a large LAN gaming centre was set up for press and early access types to play, review and mingle. The UT3 launch had me awake for around 30 hours, Mines of Moria had me awake and working none stop for 36 hours. They both exhausted me for weeks after, but I wouldn't change it as it was so much fun.

Writing my masters thesis full draft (very luckily not the final deadline) - I woke up at 10am on the Wednesday and didn’t sleep until 1am on the Friday morning (~39 hours continuously awake). Genuinely wrote about 10000 words and made all my results figures in those 2 days. It was 15000 total and I had already written some of it but unfortunately left the bulk of it to the last minute. About 73-76 hours I did once. I was in a patch where I naturally fell asleep around 5-6 am in my early 20s, and agreed to go to amsterdam centreparks with a load of friends. Was awake from thursday 5pm(ish) till sunday midnight(ish) Basically every was waking up just as i was able to nod off all weekend. It actually fixed my sleep problems for a solid year... (do not recommend it though, by 2/3 through i was so motion sick even a travelator made me want to hurl. and i dont really get motion sick normally)

These days I’m a lot better. But I went through a long period of having trouble sleeping, I can’t remember how long I’ve gone without ANY sleep whatsoever…maybe around 3 days. But, I’d go weeks with 0-4 hours sleep a night. I’d have sleep paralysis almost every time I tried to sleep, and soon enough started having hallucinations when wide awake as well. Couldn’t trust my memory, or what I thought was real, but I thought I functioned fine otherwise (in hindsight, I did not)…it was a weird time 😅

Patches of what I can only assume was micro sleep over 4 days. I had tonsillitis and every single time I dropped off I'd wake up immediately feeling like I was choking. It was god awful, I felt like shite. Back when I was 15,it was last day of winter holiday, next day I had school. So Sunday I woke up around 8-9am. Had whole day, then I went to sleep as next morning I had school. I couldn't fall asleep. 12am. 1am. 2am. I'm just blankly staring in ceiling. 4am,i just dressed in school clothes. 6am without sleep I went to school. Usually in dark winter mornings, I fell asleep in bus (lived little far away from school), not that day. I was wide awake. Had school. Thought, that I'll be tired after school. Nope. Fully awake. All evening and I was fine. Went to bed on Monday in usual time. Fell asleep just after midnight. Next morning I woke up as normal. So around 40hrs without sleep. And I didn't felt any bad side effects of that. Still weirds me out. Another one, in 2017. Me and my now wife live abroad. For our wedding we went back to our home country. My old classmates decided to do tiny non-official reunion. It was happening on same day I should fly in my country. Day before going home, I was working late shift. So all happened something like this. Day before, I woke up around 9. Went to work at 2pm. Finished work at 10pm. Went home. Had 1-2hr sleep before leaving for airport. 2am we left our house. 6am we had our flight. I slept for 1hr total, in and out of sleep once we landed we went to my parents house for few hours. I took my brothers old car, which I was using when I was home. Then we went to wifes parents house 1hr away (I was driving). After few hrs I had 1.5hr drive to reunion. We hanged out at our teachers country home until 2am. I went to sleep, woke up at 6am. Said goodbye to teacher and drove back to wifes parents house. I was tired. Then all day was driving here and there, prepping for our wedding, so by then, I was just dead. At that point I had only 2hrs+1hr+4hrs sleep in past 3 days.

By Day 3 it felt like I couldn't breathe very well and I was seeing things out the corners of my eyes. Day 4 I was seeing things (Shadows mostly) everywhere, I had little blind spots in my vision and felt like I was going crazy. That's happened a few times over the years. Doesn't happen much but I can tell when it's starting.

About 3 hours over 3 days. Worst time of my life, couldn’t go into work on the 3rd day and was hallucinating and ended up ringing 111 trying to figure out what to do. Got me a same day GP appointment just for the GP to belittle me and say that it was normal and I should stay off my phone, have no caffeine and read a book (which of course I did). Ended up having a breakdown in my car after that, drove home, cried for hours and called my GP up saying I hadn’t slept in 3 days and I was gonna KMS. They prescribed me anti depressants which I took alongside multitude of sleeping tablets and ended up finally sleeping for about 15 hours. But my sleep was fucked yo for a while and I came off the anti depressants 6 months later. Put me off for a very long time calling 111 for mental issues, just felt like I wasn’t taken seriously when I was really hallucinating and couldn’t talk properly due to lack of sleep.

Keep an eye on your blood sugar levels as repeated awakenings during the night, insufficient sleep, excessive sleep, and irregular sleep all promote glucose intolerance and if a person has prediabetes or diabetes, poor sleep will worsen the condition. 4 days. By the end I was hearing cars engines first as basslines, then the drums and some of the rhythm, by the time they were \~30m away I could clearly hear the lyrics and the effects on the lead. Then at \~5m it was obviously just the engine. I'm still not sure if I was hearing them from further away than usual or if my perception of time was just immensely screwed up, and realising what was happening didn't stop or change it. I knew no one was going to be blasting music at 6am on a Tuesday but I could still hear it, and I was hearing some songs I thought I barely knew. Then when I finally did get to bed I kept having full body spasms complete with surge of adrenaline every time I started to drift off.

I once stayed awake for 36 hours straight, due to work. I used to do on call for supervising female dogs giving birth. I went to work as normal early in the morning, worked all day, got home. Was just getting into bed later that night, when I got called in. It was a false alarm. Instead of letting me go back home, management made me stay there until the dog started giving birth. The dog did not start giving birth until mid morning the next day. The dog gave birth to eleven pups in total, with an average 1.5 hours between each one. I saw the day shift people arrive in the morning, and leave in the evening. I was still going (management were strict back then the same person had to stay no matter what - it changed after this and now someone will take over a certain amount of time). My job was to revive the pups, weigh them, and apply ID markings to them and then write records of times etc. I finished with the whelping, got her and the pups all cleaned up, fresh bedding, scrubbed and hosed the area (yes, they made the same person do this as well), scanned her to ensure no more babies, then I left her with the overnight observation staff. I shouldn't have driven, but at that point I'd gone beyond risk of falling asleep. It was a strange, almost hyperactive feeling of intense focus I had. I couldn't fall asleep straight away when I got home, but eventually did. They wouldn't even give me a day off to recuperate properly. Needless to say, I came down hard with a flu-like illness not long after as my immune system was shot to pieces.

I think i did nearly 2 days on 2 hours too. I had a flight from Finland to Sweden to Manchester then a drive to the central belt up north. It was really close to Christmas and snow ruined it. Delay at Finland, flight cancelled to Manchester. I just booked a ticket on another airline and flew home, sod my bag. We spent ages circling. We went to Newcastle where they let some folk off it was so bad. Eventually back to Manchester. Sat on the tarmac for hours as all the staff had gone home. Eventually get in the car, drove as far as I could but even the motorways were being closed for snow in sections. I stopped for about an hour nap as I was worried I would crash in both the physical and vehicular way. I think the pure rage powered me home. Then I went to bed. Eventually got off. No bag of course but no one to even speak to about my bag which was AWOL.

Had a few instances of 2-3 days when I was in my early 20s and when I did get sleep it was about 3hrs or so then back to being awake for days again. I worked as a mobile technician (where every day was a total unknown, I could need to be up at 5am or 7am and need to drive for hours and be under a lot of pressure to perform and I would have no idea what time I'd be getting home which sometimes could be late evening) and it was caused by severe anxiety to a point that I felt I had forgotten how to fall asleep if that makes any sense? In the process I became heavily depressed and would self harm trying to knock myself out to get some sleep. Had to go to my brother's wedding having been awake for 2 days straight was very difficult. Lived in that cycle for about 3 years until I finally got a diagnosis of being on the autism spectrum and was prescribed anti depressants as a sleeping aid.

When my daughter was born. She had terrible reflux and colic. Feeding her would take 1hr to get the bottle in then 45mins to soothe her and burp her, then another 30 mins to settle her. She needed to be fed every 3 hrs. That left maybe 30mins for my wife and I to sleep every cycle. It took the GP 3 months to prescribe baby gaviscon and after that it was amazing. I have never experienced anything like those 3 months. I couldnt focus, I couldn't eat, I'd sweat constantly and I felt terrible. Work was hard as well. I can see why sleep deprivation is torture. The first night she slept through was amazing. It helped when I took a week's leave as it didn't matter - I could just chill. So maybe that why you are OK at the moment - you don't have to do much that isn't fun. Also you are young! I was 34 when our first was born.

On my last holiday I had a similar situation to yours that left me basically having short naps throughout the nights rather than real quality sleep. I felt alright for the first few days probably from the excitement of being on holiday, but the tiredness caught up to me on the fourth day and I cried like a tired and grumpy toddler at the mildest inconvenience.

Four days just to see if it was possible when I was about 19. Completely straight, just found that at about 5am there would be a pull to sleep and once got past that it was easy. I would have a cup of tea then and tell myself no sleep for you. I cringe to look back as I was still driving on day four and my brain had deteriorated to the point that I could see myself doing things like my hands moving on the steering wheel but it seemed like it was someone else and i was just watching it happen from somewhere else. My hearing went as well and everything was weirdly echoing. I could have stayed awake longer but started to get worried. I only slept for 6 hours and then was back to be normal. Oh to be young.

Me and a friend many years ago had a competition... He lasted 9 days, I lasted 11.... Took weeks to recover. By the end I was micro napping uncontrollably do not recommend....

When I was at uni I had a severe bout of insomnia. I got about 4 hours sleep over the course of a week. I was hearing colours and seeing sounds by the end of it. Was not fun at all

I think for me it was at a festival (Leeds Fest). I went from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon without sleep. Mainly through monster, excitement to see rage against the machine, and procured substances. They were simpler times. I get the kids to bed and then go to bed myself at 9 now, read a book in bed and I'm dead by 10pm latest.

I was 18, halo reach just released Went to the midnight release having got up about 7am, didn't sleep that night, went out to college, came back and didn't get any sleep again, went into college the next day and fell asleep in physics in the early afternoon. So probably about 55 hours? If a power nap in physics doesn't count then it's closer to 63 hours.

5 days only getting at most 4 or 5 hours of sleep each night. We hit a massive issue with a number of storage arrays (it was a software bug) that meant hundreds of servers needed storage rebuilt. I was exhausted working my normal 8-4 shift then getting a bit of sleep in the evening then starting work again to work on intrusive stuff overnight. After a couple of days I stopped going into the office which meant I got more sleep as could KO as soon as finishing but mainly cause it was just way to dangerous!

Probably about 36 hours, I used to sometimes do all nighters if I couldn't sleep by about 4am as I used to live in a hot and noisy flat, but then I could never make it through the second day without crashing, usually getting home from lectures around 12 and sleeping until 10pm or something

About 4 days in the Army during "BattleCamp", the final combat exercise in basic training. The first night I had about two hours after we had spent 24 hours digging, a trench collapsed and a colleague was killed, no respite or cancellation of the exercise then we were attacked, then I was up either tabbing or attacking etc etc until endex. There is nothing in the world like 6 hours on the bus back to camp at the end. It felt like a ten min nap.

Did a good few 48 hour benders whilst i was younger especially if on holiday Ive always had a love hate relationship with sleep i love it but hate trying to do it As ive gotten older i've tried to be more disciplined with it i feel like i can feel my hairline moving back mm by mm if i stay up silly hours

Probably close to the same. I went through a period (about 9 months) of insomnia. I simply wouldn't fall asleep and ended up awake throughout the night. Worst I've ever felt. Only times I slept was for like 2 hours and would wake up at insane hours. What helped, I think, was getting out of bed as soon as I was awake. Would find myself up at 3am and going for a walk outside.

I had a bout of insomnia that meant I could only doze for a few minutes for 4 consecutive nights. When I finally did manage to sleep it was for a whole two hours and then after that everything went back to normal. Extremely odd because I don't normally have any issues getting to sleep, and my life in general is pretty stress free. It was pretty lousy, though I guess not as bad as it could have been. I wasn't quite The Walking Dead but I did have brain fog. I later learned that dozing counts as rest, which is probably why I was still able to function. I didn't dare drive, though. I recently had another bout where I was unable to sleep for one night - same deal. Very strange.

I had horrific insomnia as a teenager, stayed up 3 days at 3 separate parties (a little booze but no drugs) When I got home I slept 19 hours straight, it was the summer and I didn't understand how it was dark when I went to sleep and still dark when I woke up, I didn't understand why nobody was around, it was very confusing.

Used to regularly go 7am Friday to early hours of Sunday morning on benders when I was in the last couple years of high school. Stopped when I started getting my brother up to help me get rid of hallucinations I was seeing, out of my bedroom. Try to get at least 6 hours a time now. Even when I do night shifts.

About 36ish hours after going to an all night music event. It was from about 10pm one Saturday night through to around 6am Sunday morning. I’d got up about 7/8am on the Saturday morning, and we didn’t see the point in getting a hotel to struggle to sleep during the day, so got the train down to London for the event on the Saturday evening, grabbed a bite to eat, went to the event and then got the train home first thing Sunday morning. I just felt there was no point sleeping during the day to ruin my sleeping pattern for the next day so I just fought the tiredness and crashed about 7/8pm Sunday night

A little over 2 days & i was depressed as fuck about a month ago and could only sleep for about 2 hours a day before the pain of my thoughts would wake me up and I couldnt get back to sleep; i did this for 2-3 weeks until i was genuinely falling asleep standing up and couldn’t string a sentence together properly, life can be real tough

When I just finished uni and worked in a gym I could sleepy for 90mins, bounce out of bed at 5, work from 6am-10pm and still go on a night out, then wake up at 5 the following day. Now, I can't function on anything less than 7. I slept for 3 hours last night because terminal insomnia and I can feel another migraine coming on again. Later on, people around the house are going to wake up and start slamming doors and shouting because they're Neanderthals and don't know how to be considerate of talk at a normal volume.

I was like that, until I found out about sleep debt(Google it). It scared the shit out of me. Changed my diet, cut right down on booze, no phone 30-60 mins b4 bed, reading helps too. I now get about 6-7 hours a night. On the off chance I have a bad night's kip, Due to a sporadical few beers. I feel like utter crap the next day. Must have been like that all the time before. No wonder I was so grumpy and sluggish.

5 days when I was 14 and traveled Manchester to Singapore and then 4 days later to New Zealand. I slept when I was in New Zealand. 5 days a few years ago when I lived in Sweden and had mice in the house (terrible fear). Cracked and went to a hotel on day 6. 4 days the year after, same reason, cracked and went to the hotel a day earlier. 6 days last year, had too much on my mind, couldn’t relax and sleep.

I slept a few hours over 6 days a month or so ago and I 1) started hallucinating a chimney sweep victorian boy to the left of me 2) he did disappear after I got sleep haha but a lingering headache hasn't Full body shakes, mind keeps skipping over things etc ...yeah. Sleep is so important
