Buying a ryzen cpu from AliExpress. Would like some advice please

I found a Ryzen 7800X3D CPU deal on AliExpress, It's $330, which is insanely cheaper by about $150 than the price on my local Amazon (Middle East) at $480 .
I don't think linking is allowed here, but I want to provide info for you guys to weigh in on whether this sounds like a good choice or not:
- Over 1.2k units sold
- It has 170 reviews with people including pictures of the CPU received.
- 4 Year old store with a 99.2% positive reviews.
- It does not come in a box which feels sketchy tbh. The seller description says its new.
- AliExpress says it offers two protections:
Quality Assurance: There's a promise of a 100% refund upon return if any suspected counterfeit items are received.
Free Returns: If not satisfied with the order, it can be sent back within 90 days for free.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, I never bought any PC related stuff from AliExpress. If its risky I won't buy it and rather pay the extra $150 on Amazon and play it safe. I've read some here say CPUs on AliExpress might be used or they change the naming of the CPU in the software and give you a worse CPU but I don't know if this common or happens nowadays.

Are you really asking if buying something expensive from Ali Express is a good idea? There are literally multiple YouTubers that make careers out of being scammed on Ali Express.
rey_russo@reddit
And there're also "literally multiple YouTubers that make careers" out of good value pc components from AliExpress, so what's your point with a vague-ass reply like that?
M4urice@reddit
Your answer says it. CHEAP. If they wanna buy an old xeon to use it as gaming CPU be my guest with aliexpress. Modern hardware? Probs gets sent an old athlon.
RexorGamerYt@reddit
That's just bullshit you're speaking. Friend bought a 7700x and got sent a 7700x. Bought 3080 ti you'll get a 3080 ti. Now, if you're dumb enough to buy something for 30% of the MSRP AND choose a seller with no reviews, that started his account on the beginning of this year, you're begging to get scammed. Otherwise, it's fine.
Techno-Diktator@reddit
The thing is you can flash this hardware and it's gonna show up as the correct thing in the system, even though it's a much older piece of junk.
Did the friend perform the correct benchmarks or did he just look at the name in the system?

Brother, we are in a tech sub... You don't have to act like people are incapable of understanding how to verify the validity of pc parts.
I've bought my 6600xt, rx 580, R3 3100 and antec zen gold 550w all from aliexpress with no issues... Aliexpress is as reliable as amazon. This isn't wish.
Sebach-balkanoid@reddit
Are they providing a warranty for CPU?
SargantLex@reddit
No you don't usually get a warranty. The items will be new in box but the part where you save money on is the warranty usually.
swiftscout31@reddit
Hi mate, building new pc soon, how do i check components are valid? Seems we should check bought from anywhere nowadays!
Techno-Diktator@reddit
If it's from a reputable store, usually should be no issues. Easiest way is to download some benchmarking software and compare the results with the ones others had on the internet, that's the first step.
i_need_gpu@reddit
Have you ever bought anything from AliExpress? It’s a legit site. It’s a marketplace. If you buy from legit stores you get legit products.
Humboldteffect@reddit
Lmao no its not, its the first wish and temu, they are all the same.
weaveR--@reddit
Why are you lying?
thatonesnookie@reddit
Yeah bro. I think you need to be really careful which vendor you're buying from. Scammers are everywhere these days.
Mrdaffyplayz@reddit
clearly you've never ordered from aliexpress...
DontKnowHowToEnglish@reddit
Yes, it's absolutely fine
Wanna buy a 4tb ssd for $20? You're getting scammed
Wanna buy a 5700x for 109$? Believe it or not you can actually do it, right now, and it will arrive in a couple of weeks
I get where the reputation is coming from, but believe it or not buying CPUs specifically is legit, just stick to the major stores.
Bought my 3600 and 5600 that way, the catch is that they come without the stock cooler, but you can buy a better one and still save money.
There's a particular store, SZCPU, that is MASSIVE. They really do move a lot of PC parts.

JoeyRaymond85@reddit
Often the time that 4tb for $20 isn't because they pressed the wrong option. The ad will show a pic of a 4tb and $20 next to it, but then you click on the link and it will have options. The first option for $20 might be a 256gb ssd, then you choose 4tb and it will be $300 or whatever they're worth

I've bought plenty of things off AliExpress without issue. You have 90 days from confirmed receipt of goods to lodge a dispute about the item received.
For reference, I've bought about $3k of things over the past four or five years with the most recent being a $250 motherboard (Erying 11600h motherboard for anyone curious) and previous purchases being anywhere from $30 through to $350 including 3x $200+ laptop motherboards and everything has been just fine. You would have to really be trying to get ripped off on Ali Express. The real risk is using AliBaba where they don't give buyer protection as it is more targeted towards business to business transactions.
Just recently I was looking at getting a Ryzen 9 3900X from AliExpress and the only reason I didn't go through with buying it from there was for effectively the same price I could get it a week faster from a different seller that was also in China via eBay.
KangaMagic@reddit
I've never bought off of AliExpress before. Right now there is one seller (who appears reputable, as his store has the 1000+ sales designation and a high 4s rating) who is selling a top of the line ice cream maker for $800 that usually costs $1200-$1300 in the US. Do you think I'll be in the clear buying from this guy?
smoike@reddit
Chances are that it will go fine. AliExpress withhold the money until either you confirm delivery and satisfaction, or a period of 30 days since confirmed delivery has lapsed.
ronco365@reddit
okay but what is the cpu lifespan? Like brand new?
smoike@reddit
It works like any other processor. I'm not trying to run it at the bleeding edge so it's perfectly normal.
trsskater63@reddit
You are so right about that. The only problem is I've never seen them buy CPUs which should be good content. And alot of them scam themselves from buying over price stuff that they know should be cheaper and got what they expected. But also AliExpress will refund you your money without you having to return it if you show proof that it is a scam. I got back $5 because the item wasn't as advertised. It was still a screw driver, just not the one in their pictures. I still use it since it's not bad, it's just not what I wanted.
danny12beje@reddit
I mean it kinda depends.
If you go for legitimate products for legitimate sellers, it's fine.

Did you brought it finally? I am asking couse I want to buy the same cpu and I don't know that is it legit.
ReservePlus6914@reddit
Just bought one. Did not work. About to find out if the customer service has mercy.
Shot-Bank-550@reddit
i bought my r7 7700, its legit, it costs less because it comes directly from the manufacturer and you loose customer service but if you’re part of those 90% 5 stars reviews you should have no problem and be just fine
Active-Quarter-4197@reddit
I have only had good experiences with Ali express buying cpus(7500f), ptm7950 and thermal putty. Always came working and faster than the expected shipping
kantaxo@reddit
can you tell me even on pm seller? im wondering wo buy from there exact cpu

If u don't mind me asking, what shop did u buy the 7500f from?

I have over 400 purchases on AliExpress since 2013. Don't listen to these folks saying its a scam web site. I bet they didn't even use AliExpress or expect arrive/refund times like amazon but they forget AliExpress isn't a local to them.
That stuff takes time!
Just check for reputable stores with badges (silver, gold etc. ), preferably high rating and sold items, reviews on the item. You can use AliHelper plugin, it says if the seller is sketchy. Shows the price history etc.
Stuff bought from AliExpress can take time! Back in the days when I started they took around 1 to 2 months, nowadays I get my items at 2 weeks max.
Refund proccess takes time too. You have to wait until item gets to you. Video while you open package, video when you first test CPU. Not talking for CPU but normally if you get something and IF part of it doesn't work but you want to keep it (i.e. you asked 5 different size fish hooks 10 each total 50, but 1 size completely missing so you get like 40) you can even ask for half refund or whatever amount you decide between seller. AliExpress has a really good customer protection service.
Yes CPU without package is normal, they are called Trays. Mine came in a 3D printed box (and perfect condition) lol.
Don't be afraid if it makes you save noticable amount so you can use that money on other parts. Get alihelper, find a good seller and buy it!

Co z gwarancją na taki procesosor np?
Reotte@reddit
Depends on your country I guess. Usually, if its AMD or Intel just ask to them.
Remote_Manager3333@reddit
True, and just because a seller translated into broken English or Chinese language doesn't mean it a scam. AliExpress is from China, so it make sense that one would see Mandarin language.
derpymurpy@reddit
I’ve got same question today, but instead of $330 I’ve found listings for around $30/$40.
90% sure it’s a scam, but one of the buyers said it wasn’t. There’s always that 10% chance. Should I take it?
Signal-Emergency-525@reddit
How did it work out?
Nice_Sand1838@reddit
bruh I just got scammed. I bought a cpu from ali express a ryzen 7 5700x3d. The tracking info says it went to some place in fontana, ca. Went back to the store page and it says seller is on vacation. I'm going to file a dispute with paypal in a week if I don't receive the product. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that the seller put the wrong tracking info.
ushan510@reddit
Lol, me who ordered 2000$ phone from AliExpress 😂
SnooPears797@reddit
I have to say I have bought a wide variety of computer and other equipment from AliExpress including GPUs and RAM. I am writing this on a smartphone I got from there. Doesn't mean you won't have issues, but for me everything I have ordered has arrived or in a couple of instances where it never did I got a full refund.
da999@reddit
Which smartphone model did you get from AliExpress? Any recommendations on AliExpress smartphone sellers?

I purchased Ryzen 5 5600 from ali express, was as advertised. Make sure the store is legit, preferably more than 4k pieces sold.
L0EIL666@reddit
mind telling me which store you bough it from ? I want to get one and saw a store selling it for 85
_Drink_Bleach_@reddit
Not having a box is actually pretty common for CPUs. They’re called tray units. Warranty might be iffy with those but generally they work normally. Price is good but also not unbelievable since the chinese market is different from ours. I would say it’s risky but it’s not 100% a scam
Beneficial-Leg-5229@reddit
Yeah i heard they take the cpu out the boxes to avoid consignment fees. Hence, the cheap prices
kyralfie@reddit
A lot of fearmongering about aliexpress, lol. Most is probably from people who never bought anything there. If you buy from a reputable seller with reviews and a high rating on the product it'll be fine. What you need to check is your country's import fees for such packages. No box is fine too. CPUs come in trays in bulk and that's how the seller gets them and saves money compared to retail boxes.
Ashton773@reddit
Yeah, got the same risks if not less when buying the same stuff used. Often cheaper too with better return/refund policy.
PM_me_opossum_pics@reddit
I feel like people are forgetting that AliExpress has basically become a normal online store for regions where stores like Amazon and Ebay don't ship or have limited availability. Plenty of PC components there are legit and just aimed at east-Asia market. Lately I've had better customer experience on Ali than on Amazon tbh.
