How can I stop my plastic ware tasting of the dishwasher tablet after I’ve washed it?

I’m using fairy platinum plus dishwasher tablets, which is what was recommended by the manufacturer. It’s a AEG small integrated dishwasher. If I put any plastic ware in there, any food or water stored in the containers then tastes of the dish washer tablets. Is it because these are too powerful for small dishwasher or is it the type of tablet or something else?

Use a sink and washing up liquid.

We used fairy platinum plus and everything came out with a funny taste, used another brand and it's fine.

I use the same tablets and find this with anything silicone. Haven't figured out a solution, though, I've been hand washing them.

Is yours a normal size or half size dishwasher like mine? Yes silicone was the first thing I noticed, then I realised it was all plastics. I’ve ‘solved’ this by buying glass storage containers but really I would just like to be able to put things in the dishwasher and not worry about it

It's a compact type, with a tray for cutlery at the top. I'm wondering if it's the type of detergent we're using, I think I'll try something different and see if it keeps happening.

You shouldn’t always put plastic in the dishwasher.

Can you add an extra rinse cycle to see if that makes a difference? Have you tried dialing the amount of rinse aid down? Have you tried a different brand of tablets?

Yeah I can try all of these things, just thought I’d ask on here to see if someone else has already solved the issue before I launch into a scientific investigation. Or just try all and hopefully fix the issue and not know the cause I guess.
