UPGRADE - Want 240 fps in Apex Legends

Current Specs:

CPU = I9-9900K

GPU = 3070 (8GB)

RAM = 16gb DDR4 3200 Mhz

Im thinking on upgrading to a Ryzen 7800x3D and the gpu to the 4060Ti/4070. Im gonna have to do one at a time for money reasons so, whether I decide to pair current cpu with new gpu or new cpu with current gpu. Either one will cost around the same which seems to be 400-550.

Current concerns are bottlenecking etc. which will give me the most overall fps in quick time and what are some other things I should be aware of. Feel like current cpu with 4070 might be a bad idea as Im bottlenecking quite a bit now.

Using a 1080p but wish to upgrade to 1440p in future.

You're right, you should go with the CPU first. Trying to push as much FPS as possible at lower resolution will always be a CPU-bound task, even once you upgrade. Upgrading the GPU will most likely just let you make the game look nicer while pushing the same FPS.
