What are the differences between Linux Admins and Windows Admins?

All depends. As a Linux admin, many places I've worked at used Windows skills as part of my metrics for reviews, so I didn't just have to know what I was hired for, but also be able to take over the Windows side of the house, and function as a domain/enterprise admin fairly often. Nothing like teaching the senior domain admins what a PAW was and why they should never use their DA accounts unless on one, or a DC, and for machine admin stuff, use a domain user account granted admin privs to all but the DCs via GPOs. In fact, I've found that I wind up doing a mixed bag. The good thing is that it gives me an overall picture that someone just in a single camp couldn't get. For example, getting Linux machines to authenticate from AD was best handled in one environment by having FreeIPA trust AD and have all the boxes authenticate from FreeIPA LDAP. Another place, it was using Windows LDS and having the Linux machines auth from that. A third environment, realmd did the trick. I have worked with people "who don't do Windows" or "won't touch Linux". I have seen some co-workers hamstring themselves by self-siloing. That isn't good, especially now where even junior admin jobs, or onsite call center jobs have 200+ applicants per opening, and a SRE position has 500+ people vying for that job.
