Hello!

A couple of married gals (mid 30s) relocating from the United States to Croatia. She is from Western Europe and I’m American, and we’re really excited to be on this side of the pond.

However, we are a bit concerned about life in Eastern Europe as a lesbian couple due to what we have read about attitudes toward the LGBTQA+ community in this area (looking at you Hungary…)

For more context, we rarely offend others with our gender roles or the way we look. We should blend in somewhat here in just appearance. We are cognisant, aware and happy to adhere to the customs of an area out of respect. Still, we wish to live a full and honest life and stay safe!

What is it like being gay in Croatia? Any places to avoid and any places we must go? How difficult is it to meet friends in the community and otherwise ? We would love to have an idea of what to expect when we arrive .
