Yup- I’m one of the people who just found out Adam and Jamie were never friends. But I remember this series like the back of my hand. No- You’re not crazy, they definitely had high points in their relationship.

The way they celebrated after the RC city Bus turn and after the compact-compact experiment shows that they were at some point at least close to friends. And there were definitely times where they demonstrated great respect for eachother’s brains.

I mean.. you can work well together and such and NOT be friends. I always got the sense that Adam just kind of tires Jamie out. *lol*

I think it was a more conflict in personality styles than anything else. Jamie seems like a profound introvert, while Adam is most definitely an extrovert. It was obvious from their interactions they professionally trusted each other. They had to do that in order to do some of these stunts safely but occasionally you'd hear a comment from one of them where you knew they didn't like each other. You can work with someone successfully without actually liking the person. Extroverts and introverts approach the world and get energy in very different ways. An introvert draws energy from within, while an extrovert draws their energy from the world around them. Nothing wrong with that. You don't have to 'like' everyone.

Jamie is also 11 years older.

You can respect someone and work exceptionally well beside them, without being friends. Adam says they've never had dinner together lol. Outside of Mythbusters work, they weren't in each other's social circles. And thats ok.

They must have a lot of work lunches.

Jamie was just grumpy that the producers wouldnt let him wear any othe outfit beside the beret and white shirt.

But I mean could you imagine him wearing anything else?

People put too much into the "not being friends". They work well together, they have overlapping interest. Their personalities dont mach up for friendship but that dont mean their relationship was adversarial or combative.
Much of the early series headbutting was creative cutting and manipulation by the then producer that wanted a show more in line with the drama of OCC. Something he of course denies with vigour and start throwing around threaths of suing whenever he is around.

Yes, not being "friends" doesn't make you enemies! They were coworkers!
CJO9876@reddit
They have mutual respect towards each other and their work.
