Is the Dassault Rafale a bad fighter?

Here is the problem. Some belgian friend hate the Rafale for a reason that i dont understand, he keeps telling thats its an useless piece of garbage and you cant even talk mention it without him starting arguing about that (and its even worse for the eurofighter typhoon ). He is often comparing the stats of the Rafale with 5th gen fighters and saying that it doenst stand even a small chance against them.

I need to know what do you guys thinks about that. Is the Rafale good for the actual times ? Is it as bad at he is telling? Is this guy a dumbass or a genius?

This post has aged well. Until recently, the Rafale had never been in a real combat situation. Pakistan, using their latest-generation Chinese fighter jets, shot down three Rafales not long ago. While the Rafale has been in service for decades, most of its operations have taken place in Africa, where the defense capabilities and air fleets are relatively limited. As a result, many operations there have been more about retaliation rather than actual combat scenarios.

The Rafale is arguably the best 4,5 jet on the market right now. It's also the only TRUE Omnirole fighter in the world (as in, the Rafale doesn't need to land to switch from one role to another unlike the others). It can carry 14 tons of ordnance, 1,5 it's dry weight. Can super cruise. Has one of the best radar on the market. It's also highly manoeuvrable...

Every single one of my instructors who have flown on it are absolutely in love with the jet and its systems. Hope I get to fly it during my career.

Also it's subjective but I think it's one of the best looking jets out there.
