What’s the best pub, in terms of sheer excellent pubness, in the country?

I've been to an embarrassing number of pubs all over the country and would probably say the best in terms of ambiance and vibes were: * The Eagle Ale House in Battersea - really old school pub just off the Northcote Road, gets a very mixed crowd and always has a good buzz. A lot of Battersea has gentrified massively in recent decades but this feels like a vestige of the "old" Battersea - with prices to match! * The Half Moon in Oxford - it's dingy, it's chaotic, but it's wonderful. Probably the only pub in the city where students and townies really mix and rub along well. Excellent Guinness too if that's something you like. * Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem in Nottingham - it's a bit of a clichéd pick but the history in this place is just so evident, it's like having a pint in a cave! * Ye Olde White Harte in Hull - another really historic pub, allegedly this was where the English Civil War began. There's also a skull behind the bar. Very cosy and just a really proper pub. * Crown Posada in Newcastle - this one is tiny but rightly treasured by those who are in the know; they always have good ales on tap and it's rightly a Newcastle icon. * The Guildford Arms in Edinburgh has already been mentioned, and rightly so - brilliant pub and very handy for Waverley station. * The Pot Still in Glasgow is excellent - if you like your whisky you won't find many places better than this. The beer isn't bad either!
