Are there any town centres out there now which are actually nice?

Seems to me that every time someone mentions a nice place, they’ll suggest the surrounding areas but always say “avoid the centre, it’s a bit shit”. Whilst the reasons for this have been talked to death, are there any town centres which are actually quite nice?
Only one which really pops into my mind was Worcester, which seemed fairly nice on a quick visit (literally cafe detour and hour walk around on a long journey). Although I will say most are just decidedly average rather than crap of the ones I’ve been to.
