Can someone explain holiday pay to me?

Hi, I’m about to leave my job and I’m not really understanding HR. I have 3 months notice period I have accrued 8 days holiday for the rest of the year. Currently my final employment date is the 10th July, but I will finish on the 28th June to use these holidays. so I not receive any money then for those 8 days by doing this? Is it better to amend my final date to the 28th June and get paid the accrued holiday? I’m taking two weeks between jobs so want to be covered for that as much as possible. Thanks!

In my job. I’ve been there for 12 months now. I’ve not taken any holidays. Besides the ones they’ve payed me for working on a bank holiday I was payed £30.50 an hour. I’ve got 18 currently but once starting a new job it will give me another 26 holidays extra. The company I work for I’m allowed to cash them in, I’m not sure if it’s the wages I get or it’s extra but I have to let them know by November 21st to cash them in or like everyone said you just lose them if not. Not every company pays for those holiday you did not take but mine do.

You'll still be paid them, but it won't be a lump sum on top of your normal salary. You can ask to cancel them and have them paid on top, but bare in mind that your employer can dictate when you take leave so they can instruct you to take them and not have to pay them on top.

You’ll be paid for any unused holiday, in this case 8 days of holiday that you haven’t used.

You'll be paid until 10th July, no additional holiday pay as you're using everything accrued.

You should get paid holiday, if you take the last two weeks off work from your notice period as holiday, it should be paid.

Agreed, assuming you get paid for holidays then the final holidays to cover your notice period would typically be paid
