North America soon, right? Yes, I know about the new tarriffs. but if they build the batteries and cars right here, they should be exempt from those. Or have the rules changed again?

There's more to cars than the batteries. It would have to be safely tested first as an example

NGL I found this hilarious with the tariff news

Well, that's the point of tariffs. It's not to completely shut people out, its to get them to build shit here Of course, the issue is that the US DOES want to completely shut the Chinese out, so there won't be a factory in North America\* anytime soon \*Besides Mexico for the Mexican market

They can import from Mexico to US if built there without tarrifs due to NAFTA.

Can't import. Don't forget about the "25 year" rule

Are you sure? I'm convinced STLA wanted to build Leapmotors in Belvedere or Brampton at some point, possibly flogging Chrysler badges on them in the process.

This only highlights the inefficiency of tariffs further.

It’s the 80s and 90s again. Sell same vehicle model under joint venture.

Honestly fuck stellantis, They are killing all their brands forcing them to make stupid generic cars. I'm looking at you Tonale/Hornet/Compass/Rampage/Commander or whatever else they try to name you next. Turning companies with great legacies like Alfa Romeo and Dodge into Fiat.

The volvo path.

A bit different. Volvo was a Swedish company that the Chinese acquired in order to gain access to their design and brand value. That actually took place before the huge EV transition happened. It just worked out really well once they realized that Swedish design/brand + Chinese EV tech is a great combination. Whereas Stellantis invested in LeapMotor to gain access to their EV technology and product offering to begin with.

Do you actually understand what money laundering is? Because it just seems like a buzzword you love to use.
